Looks like we have info and a cover for the Blackshields audio drama.

Renouncing fealty to all masters or driven mad by the rigours of war, the Blackshields are a stain upon any Legion they once served. Regarded as little better than pirates, their loyalty is only to themselves. Infamous among their mercenary ranks is Endryd Haar, a former World Eater, driven by hatred, his blade pledged to no banner but his own. But estranged from his Legion and surrounded by a battered warband of warriors, how long can Haar and his Blackshields hope to endure?

ENDRYD HAAR!!!!! So pumped for this... I can't wait to get some hints as to where his Blackshields end up in the 40k universe (as he is meant to survive the Battle of Terra).

That is indeed one mean and scary World Eater - I do prophesy a lot of blood being spilled :teehee:

Astartes A: "What's the first rule of being a Blackshield?"

Astartes B: "Don't let anyone know who you are or where you come from!"

Astartes C: "Hey guys, I'm Endryd Haar of the World Eaters!"

Astartes A

Astartes B:

Just having fun. This should be interesting. I do like learning about World Eaters that are anything other than psychotic Berzerkers (not that there's anything wrong with the latter).

Excellent! Black shields are something I really want to see developed. Although I won't be buying this as it will be hitting the shelves in the main numbered series before long.

True. And it's good they (BL) are doing them outside the main line of numbered stuff. Joshua in the last 2 years simply went Godlike with his writing.

Add to that interesting, mostly unknown character and we will have a good polygon to fill in ;)

Yeah, Endryd Haar's 2IC is a former Forge-Tyrant of the Death Guard named Erud Vahn. Would be good to get some info about him too.

I also wanna know more about the Marine Zombies they used on Xana! Did they turn the Keys of Hel as well, or was it some other Dark Age tech?

Haar's an interesting choice for the second BL appearance of blackshields. The 30k fanbase has embraced blackshields for their obvious coolness but largely in the form of forces whose "loyalty is only to themselves" as this blurb says, rather than specifically imperial- or traitor-allied forces. Haar though is ferociously loyal to the throne. The Xana incusion is hinted to have been organised with some knowledge or assistance of Malcador. I guess writing those characters fits the overall HH novels better than some random pirates.

But yeah, audio drama by Reynolds, comfortably sold. That's a cool-looking arc rifle.

A Blackshields compilation could be really cool. Traitor Wolves, the Death Eagles Millenial, Morturg's force, I'd like to see them featuring in stories whether as pro-or-antagonists.

Traitor Wolves?

You meant Luna or the ones who will come howling and call you a maleficarum and in their hypocrisy declare that Rune priests are not librarians or warlocks and their magic is pure :)

The ones that slaughtered millions at Neo-Cadiz.

The fact that I can list all the battles and forces involved from that paragraph may be a sign of bad life priorities...

You're welcome   I was surprised it was Neil too. Because before that I saw the 'Lolipop ship' of a 'Ruinstorm' cover :teehee:

  • 1 month later...

Nice to see he had a shave from his artwork

Genuinely been hyped for this since its announcement, I am curious though the artwork in the HH book and somewhat in this artwork has a distinct lack of butchers nails but scars of obvious cabling into his skull. It would be interesting to find out if he had been able to remove the nails (if he had them in the first place). It would be interesting to also find out any hints on what path he takes after the Heresy.

There's a fairly lengthy extract of this playable on the BL website. Looks like it's going to cover the Xana Incursion. Uncavar Noon, the Davinite priest, sounds like a proper geezer.

Indeed. Through in comparison to Forge World book it has different view on events and how blockade/negotiations went. So I think - maybe it is a little bit reworked events for the Main Xana incursion shown in the FW book #6.

Also - did you catched up the moment he described 'Glorianna class battleship flying the colour of Terra. Their target Xana production facilities' fighting with the orbital batteries?

Quite forgot - do Imperial side had a Gloriana class ship where? Is the excerpt take place after the attack has started? Or is it as I mentioned a precursor event -cause it kind of differs with the synopsis?

Uncavar Noon is such a cheerful fella
