Hi guys,

So the rules are out, for those that wish to know them and all i can say is holy hell. I'm saving up for a Tantalus!

Both of these models are amazing and have fantastic rules.

Reaper

£13 more expensive than a Ravager but comparable in terms of slot and points, but you get the mega-reaper cannon thingy.

The shtick with this gun? If you slay a model in a unit, that unit cannot advance next turn. Glorious. The gun itself fires a good volume of high strength shots, but you drop the reliability of the Dark Lance/Disintegrator hits for the usual all or nothing approach 2D6/D6 hits gets you.

Still, hella worth it imo.

Tantalus

Aka the Murderbus Extreme McStabby Slayface of Doooooooooooom.

I preface this with I'm counting you always take a Haemonculus because this vehicle has the Covens keyword. This allows you to buff your Tantalus (Oh and Reaper, lest I forgot :biggrin.:) to T8!

I've quickly worked it out, this thing allows:

30 inch move t8 18 wound 3+ save monster that can unleash 12 S8 hits (with decent AP values, nothing over 3 but...s8!) plus D3 mortal wounds (so luck based, but not the 12 S8 hits as none of the weapons are DX hits) combined with open topped and 16 transport capacity so you either fill if with murderous CC nasties or blasters so you can add even more S8 fun

Oh and if that wasn't enough? If your Warlord is embarked, all units with LOS (Excluding those in cover) can use their LD. Put an Archon, instant LD10 for your army almost, sort of.

It costs more than a pimped Land Raider, but this thing can theoretically (Dice gods willing) OHK a Land Raider on the charge or at least cripple it, so your embarked warriors can blap the contents.

Oh and a small note, the D3 mortal wounds is for any unit 1 inch away, so if you have a character in the unit, they also get D3 wounds which is a nice to have.

Solid effort FW!

I'm not sold on the reaper (yet) but was waiting for the Tantalus rules to make my list around it. Now that is out, and awesome, I need to get one!

Even crippled is awemazing, with one wound remaining still hits on 4+ and moves 12"! I need it as a centerpiece of my army for various reasons, including how cool the model is, that I'm a sucker for airships and flying boats, the fact that his name ties it to FF9 and that can transport a lot of models.

It wants to carry 7 incubii+Drazhar and 7 bloodbrides+succubus (it would be a Witch Cult Tantalus so it would hit on 3+ in melee) if the target survives to the shooting  phase (its killing 5,5 MEQ, 4,4 TEQ, or 6,6 GEQ on its own). It have a 72" threat range (36" advancing + 36" pulse-disintegrators) which is great. Not sure if its point efficient or not, but I'm getting one.

EDIT:

Reapers. Ok, I'm sold now. They are cheaper than tri-lance ravagers by a melta bomb, and while shooting is random, it averages on 3,5 dark lance shots with the beam mode and have the bonus of another profile for anthi horde (is not that great, avg of 7 shots, but is nice to have the option for - 5 points :laugh.: )

EDIT 2: It also have more attacks and wounds and an inproved shock prow.

Im sold on the Tantalus. Pure quality. Moves far and can advance and shoot thanks to the cannons being assault.

The Reaper is good but becuase it offers coverage rather than pure AT/Anti Elite its a little less potent in either direction. It can spike just as easily as it can fire one or two shots. I like the consistency the Ravager offers. But man is the Reaper pretty and still just good.

I honestly haven't seen the new stats for the two models however I've been toying with the idea of getting a Tantalus for a bit though I just wish I didn't have to spend so much on a book for 1 model.

Though with how you are all talking about it the ship will be money well spent.
