i was wondering what is the benefit of using khan in the new edition.

His ability to add 1 S to units in the fight phase doesn't seem that great when compared to the smurf characters like calgar.

I am sad he lost his army wide ability to allow transport to scout in 7th edition, but that is the past.

Q. how would white scar players use khan in their list now in 8th edition?

Q. does his ability add +1S before a melee wargear? e.g. PF, TH, CF

1 - Kor'sarro benefits choppy units now, so load up on Company Vets armed with CC (especially swords IMO) and be in your opponent's face ASAP. Normal bikers have an extra attack too, thanks to the Chainsword rules. He can still be useful IMO.

2 - after modifiers

I'm thinking of retooling and painting my former IH bike vets into White Scars w/ Khan.  I've switched to spamming dreads w/ my IH's, but I want to use my bike models and some more of my JP's in the future.

Anyways,  it seems to me this squad would take advantage of his ability nicely:

Kor'sarro Khan [7 PL, 132pts]: On Moondrakkan
Company Veterans on Bikes [14 PL, 253pts]
. Space Marine Biker Veteran: Plasma gun, Power lance, Twin boltgun
. Space Marine Biker Veteran: Plasma gun, Power lance, Twin boltgun
. Space Marine Biker Veteran: Power lance, Storm shield, Twin boltgun
. Space Marine Biker Veteran: Power lance, Storm shield, Twin boltgun
. Veteran Biker Sergeant: Storm shield, Thunder hammer, Twin boltgun

Is this dumb? I haven't played w/ White Scars tactics in years.

regarding 2nd - its actually before, so TH becomes S10. (this was FAQed)

Tested him a bit in a Fate of Konor game, and I kinda liked him (please don't mind that I used a blood angel army, I never played White Scars and I wanted to play it). He is VERY killy, as he killed a Chaos Sorcerer on Terminator armor AND a Chaos Lord (the one in the following photo). His 6' bubble is also freaking excellent for Stormravens, as he is one of the few characters that can keep up with them and keep giving them the ability.

Never underestimate the power of fluff! I know what you mean, though- might be able to get away with a generic Captain on Bike.

Correct me if I am wrong, but there is not a current model for say, Chaplain on bike, but they still have the current rules for it, right? Or is it ba cause there has *never* been a Khan model on bike?

I know it is like 150th on the priority list, but sure would be nice to have an updated bike kit, too. They are really, really, REALLY old and boring.

It's the very first question in there, and it says that first you multiply or divide, then you add or subtract.

So a TH in the Khan's bubble would be strength 9, 4 x2 +1.

If you reread it, it says that the modification from weapons (ie, the 2x) happens last. If Khan was 2x and a model has a Power Axe (+1 S), then that model would attack with S4 x2 +1, for a total of 9; a Thunder Hammer with Khan as is, is S 4 +1 x2 for a total of 10.
