Ok so I have a fetish with White Scars.  I like their lore but something about their paint scheme rubs me the wrong way.  I had this idea to start a secondary force of White Scars once I was satisfied with my Raven Guard.  The timeline I had for this was maybe 18 months of building a WS list which was about the same time my RG army has taken to build up.  (yeah yeah Im slow)

I was messing around with battlescribe at work at home after work and came up with an elite Raven Guard list idea.  The main concept is to leverage as many multi wound models as possible without sacrificing Raven Guard's identity as a fast jump pack list.  This is what I came up with.

Outrider Detachment (+1 CP)

HQ -

Chaplain on a Bike, Twin Boltgun+combi flamer 108 points

Fast Attack -

Inceptor Squads x 2, 225 points

Scout Bikers - 2 astartes grenade launchers, 99 points

Vanguard Detachment (+1 CP)

HQ - Shrike 150

Elites -

Company Vets on Bikes x2, Power axes+meltaguns, sarge gets power axe + combi flamer 284 points each

Company Vets on Bikes, Storm Bolters + power axes, sarge gets power axe + combi flamer  224 points

Vanguard Vets x 10, Dual claws x 2, bolt pistol/power fist x 2, power axe + stormshield x 5. sarge has a relic blade, all have jump packs.  317 points.

Apothecary on a bike 82 points

Total Points,  1998.

Power Level, 90

5 command points.

So the real meat of this list is 15 biker vets that are strong in the shooting and charge/fight phase.  They hit hard and hit often and can really haul ass around the map.  The dakka bikes are especially ferocious in rapid fire range with 32 strength 4 bolter shots.  I think this list would really bring the pain for horde armies and have enough melta/durability to fight against vehicle spam lists.

From a hobby perspective I really want to paint up some elite black riders with raven guard icons/symbols.  I think that would be really cool.

Who thinks this list is cool or sucks and why?

Bikes in black = :tu:  I should finish mine btw ...

On paper this looks good.  If you want bikes, then why the VV and Shrike?  I mean, I get it I suppose, but they are not mandatory.  Why not an Attack Bike or two?

Also, why 2K points?  Is that from your group?

My group... 1500-2000, mostly 1500 atm.  That is in flux.

Shrike is mandatory for all RG lists imo.  Rerolling hits and he can deploy almost anywhere to grant that buff.  If you like jump packs.. it is rerolling hits in melee/shooting and charges.  Any other HQ gives A LOT less flexibility for comparable points. Example, librarian with a jump and force sword is 128 points.  He grants a reroll to charge IF you pass a psychic test without getting denied and gives no rerolls.  A chaplain with a jump pack is 90 points and grants rerolls only in the fight phase.  You might take this guy if you wanted something cheaper.  A captain with dual claws and a jump is 106 points and just straight up worse than shrike... only rerolling 1s.  Bleh!  A naked chaplain is next best imo if you are tight on points.  Besides.. what is more thematic than the bloody chapter master himself!

About the Vanguard vets... I want to combine two things I like... deepstrike shennanigans and bikers.  I also wanted a lot of multi wound models on the table and my single wound models off the table.  I also have this fantasy of deepstriking 2 inceptor squads infront of a 30 man ork blob and turning into a green pile of ground beef then having my storm bolter bikers do the same thing to another 30 man ork blob followed by a charge with power axes.  Sounds like pure glory to me.

This all came from listening to an old Fritz video on youtube where talks about building lists to dominant particular phases of the game.  I think vet bikers and inceptors can bring the pain in both assault and shooting so I thought that could be the core of a Raven Guard biker list with jump pack support.

The main drawback for me atm is $$$.  5 boxes of bikers plus any additional bits is gonna be like $250.  I wont be able help myself with extra bits either.  Black Riders cant just look like regular bikers with black paint.  They will need to look much cooler.  In fact, if they arent much cooler looking than white scars or ravenwing... i would consider the list a failure.

Makes sense.  In that case, I *think* the DW bike box is a deal with 5 bikers included.  There is (was?) a BA Scout Bike formation box that gave a LOT of Scout Bikes ...

But yeah ... money.  I hear that.  Don't see it a lot though :P

It won't be pretty, but maybe proxy the models for a game or two?

I like your style.

Haha.  What do you think some filthy ork players reaction would be when 5 badass bikers in black zoom up and bust out 40 dice of dakka on their stupid brainless horde? Oh, then charge it.  :D
