8th Edition BT Quick Reference Sheet

Recommended Posts

Brothers and sisters, I'm going to be putting together a quick reference sheet for playing my BT in 8th. Although the one that came in the Dark Imperium box is nice, I want one that has all of our BT rules as well in one glance, and one that I can update as the rules get tweaked. So in the spirit of modifying and customizing anything and everything, why not make my own? I've finally got enough of my army painted with enough variety to field a couple different lists. Other than a couple games played last year with 2nd edition rules with old friends, I haven't had much table time at the FLGS. My proximity to some of the tournaments around here are leaving me with quite an itch to dive back in. Which is why I got back into all this in the first place, as I am analog gamer at heart.

I will be putting my design and photoshop skills to use and hope to develop a useful tool that I can share with this community in an "open source" manner. This will hopefully give us a great asset which will give us great efficiency in kicking galactic ass.

I want to make something that will be useful for anyone from a neophytes to curmudgeon dreadnought chaplains.

The sheet size will be A4 Legal (8.5 in x 14 in) and will be double sided. The "A" side being game rules and "B" side will be Templar statlines, points, special rules, etc. This way other players could adapt their own armies by keeping the A side and replacing the B side with their own army info. Of course I will make it very cool looking in either black & white or color with lots of BT iconography (and a generic version to play nice with others).

Thoughts? I'll probably have a mock up of the layout in a week or so.

I certainly like the idea of an evolving version of the quick reference guide, especially since GW has errata'd quite a few things already and has shown a great willingness to do it on the drop of a hat.  I, for one, will be making use of it!

2 things ...

1. including references for where things can be found from direct sources would be useful to help curb anyone doubting a rule.

2. I didn't know about your considerable photoshop and art skills ... every consider doing a decal sheet like the newer FW ones for the legions?  I have the older FW templar sheet and while its nice the newer ones are really cool.

1. Great idea, I'll be sure to keep those kind of footnotes handy for important rules.

2. I'd be very down for this as I've already made my own decal sheets for my own use. However, if you have an original FW sheet, I would love a good (300dpi or higher) scan of it for reference, since I haven't been able to find any online. Then I could go in and make renderings with the kind color grades and "photoreal" quality of the new FW sheets. The thing is being able to print white, which is the issue with any kind of quality decal. However, if I make the sheet different enough from the FW one to not qualify as copyright infringement, going to someplace like Fallout Hobbies or a local printer that has a good laser or screenpress that have the printing out method to do that kind of thing would make the cost worthwhile.

As cool and useful as this sounds, unfortunately if it's going to include points costs and rules then we cannot allow it here on the B&C. Rules and points costs that are in a GW publication that is not freely available on their website are copyrighted and sharing them on here is a violation of GW's IP and thus the B&C rules.

I've cut out and used some already but I'll scan it and send you over what I have
