Well it is official that Foregworld/Specialist Games are bringing back Necromunda.

As someone who no longer plays any game variant but stays around because I love the lore and IP then I hope it is possible to get hold of the background material as a separate release.

I wonder whether we will also get any new Necromunda novels or shorts? I would be surprised if the old books don't get a rerelease but new stuff would be cool (we got Bloodbowl after all).

I would *love* to get my hands on the Necromunda Omnibus 2. The first is glorious, and the Kal Jericho one is terrific too. Gutted I missed the second.

New stories would be tremendous too. I'd love to see what the newer authors would do with the setting!

Read good old Rennie stuff - tis brilliant. He was an amazing author for BL. His Gothic War serie was also brilliant (especially the first book)

Yep I have got the Kal Jericho books on my shelf right here. Also Junktion by Matthew Farrer. All good stuff. Also got the Gothic War omnibus which was excellent.

Just let A D-B do any/all Munda novels. :biggrin.:

Nope - with all my belief in A D-B (and though me being 'mean' to him I do give him a colossal level of belief in his ability as a talented writer) I do not think that he would do good stuff with Necromunda outside just one standalone and self-sufficient novel.

Why?

I agree that I wouldn't want one single author writing everything to do with Necromunda but why not ADB?

I was just thinking this very same thing yesterday. At the very least we should see a nice box set version of the old novels. But I would dearly love to see some new material. As long as Annandale doesn't write it, please no. Gav Thorpe, or I would really love an Abnett for this one. He can do Judge Dredd and anyone who can do megacity one can do a hive villain.

Perhaps he has a busy schedule?

Perhaps he doesn't like Necromunda enough to want to write a novel about it?

Perhaps all the love for the authors just on this board is tiresome?

Perhaps I don't know.

As his writing practice has shown he write amazing standalones about baddies or ganstas. But in a run of a series tis usually going sideways and always worse than it's predecusors

It would be awesome to see the books done by Abnett from the point of view of an investigating arbites officer.

No. Enough of Fishing for our lifetime

@ Heritor, do you mean Fischig? Come on he is great?? 40k has so few first person novels and we know from Eisenhorn Dan can do it well.

Other option I have is Andy Chambers. I love his dark eldar novels. The dark city and the underhive are both repressive and nasty places full of cruelty.

If I made a guess I think Abnett would enjoy writing a Necromunda based novel. He has made it clear he is not going to spend time chomping out books on marines.

Yeap. I ment Fischig. It was enough. Maybe in several years - do another, but not before.

'Other option I have is Andy Chambers.' - please tell him to stick to druchi and do not touch blue fish. We already have one Kelly.

Ooft, I'd love more Andy C. Similarly, Matt Farrer's Junktion is a tremendous novel, I'd love to see him tackle Enforcers (not Arbitrators - his "Legacy" is already my favourite novel!).

Anyway, I'd like to see what Dan would do with a fairly 'pedestrian' gang tale. His Pariah was excellent and touched a lot of Necromunda notes.

Similarly, Aaron D-B and John French would be quite the treat.

---

Actually, anyone and everyone. The more the merrier The Necromunda setting is so rich and yet open that even CS Goto turned in a great novel!

Sadly Matt said recently that he isn't doing anymore arbites novels in the foreseeable future.

Or maybe that's because he is too busy writing about scum in the underhives??

Who knows. Main thing will be that we get some glorious new books about a different corner of the galaxy to pour over.

I think there's a tie in for the Sabbat Worlds, Iron Snakes on Urdesh by Farrer which is ongoing (going on the comments, latest January 2017)

I may be making this up, but I'm not sure if he's a full time author?

What I'd love to see is more Pat Mills "The Redeemer"!

It does not have anything to do with Matthew Arbites. He is doing Urdesh still - it is not finished yet, partly edited but in massive rework after edit now. At least Matthew was doing that one week ago.

Current project status: two Space Marines in a belvedere finished. Edit #amwriting

Punishing Pete

As RFD said above and see my comment.

Mellow

Heresy indeed!

Because ADB has stated that he doesn't play what he writes about, out of a desire to avoid accusations of bias.

Therefore, if he plays the game he might be disinclined to write stories about it, and I think I recall him mentioning that Necromunda was one of his favorite games in the 40k universe.

So if he declines to write a Necromunda novel, I'll completely understand why he made that decision.
