Terimus
I've had a few tau projects in the works for a while and would like to share them with you. Commander Farsight has always been a cool character to me, but I hated the old model, and while I like the new one, I never got around to buying it, so I decided I'd give a crack at him myself. He is a kitbash if I've ever seen one, and as you'll see, I've reached outside the bounds of gamesworkshop to build him. His torso, jet pack, hands, and a few other bits are from various gundam action figures. I wanted to try something new, while still remaining some aspects of the current Farsight. http://i.imgur.com/IEV7i9A.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/dtI0CS6.jpg?2 http://i.imgur.com/JYwG3SD.jpg?1 I have more of him on the way in a bit as well as my alterations of the XV22. Terimus
I really like the idea of the XV 22 battlesuit worn by Shadowsun and Shas'o Kais from DoW, but I've always wanted to rework it a little bit for the sake of uniqueness and because I'm not a huge fan of the classic helmet or the humongous guns on the arms. I pulled apart my old version and reworked it into this! http://i.imgur.com/arQPp4F.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/gTPWCXi.jpg?1 Before anyone goes off on me about the optics not being tau like, I know, but I really liked how it came out personally. As for the fusion blaster, I wanted to go for a much smaller forearm version that works better for tight areas. I was going to do another one, but didn't have any other matching pieces that were mirrored on the other side, so I figured we can run with the experimental weaponry idea. I did put a little computer thing on his left arm, which you can't see here. C+C welcome! I hope to have him painted up today, so I'll get more pictures up. I'll also be working on Farsight and see if I can finish building him today. Trevak Dal
Nice. I think they retconned her fusion blasters in a book where she was being transported in a manta-got shot down and Master Chiefs to the planet some how surviving. She walks over to a dead crisis pilot and takes up his fusion blasters...and que the Doom 2016 soundtrack. walter h 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338876-reimagining-of-some-heroes/#findComment-4873236 Share on other sites
Terimus
Nice. Oh thats cool, I didn't know that! as for this model, he is going to be my own personal commander, the "me" on the battlefield. His name is Shas'O Varren, Commander Fellwraith of the Tash'Var sept. http://i.imgur.com/Y6bYZ7T.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/ehDpg1v.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/d8yDyRU.jpg?1 I really like how he turned out. My original color scheme for my Tash'Var was a sky blue with gold, but I've since become dissilusioned, so wanted to change it. I've really liked the Sons of Horus teal colors, but don't have the funds or will to start a force, so I decided I'd steal it for my tau, and I really like how it looks! And an update on Farsight, I got his legs built, now I just need to construct an adequate base. For him I will paint him in his classic red and grey colors, he is just too iconic for me to change, not this time. http://i.imgur.com/JprB3Lq.jpg?1 C+C welcome! Trevak Dal
I really like the Gundam parts integration. The suits were my 2nd biggest draw to the Tau back when I started (they were not ignorant of technology and were like a secular Covenant, or more militaristic Federation) but the boxy suits are just incongruent with the flowing designs of the vehicles and infantry armor. They look like some Battletech stuff snuck in. But the Gundam bits you have integrated have broken up that basic shape a little or at least dispersed it so that it can be its own unique thing and I like that. The Shadowsun model is in my top 3 favorite 40k models (Shadowsun, Red Terror, and Greyknights). I get you on becoming disillusioned with a paintscheme. I've stripped and repainted my Tau and chaos so much I could have had multiple armies fully painted, but I'd always run into problems with a certain model or group of models (couldn't figure out how to translate the Red Corsairs theme to chaos Terminators, the awesome camo scheme for my fire Warriors and pathfinders looked busy and bad on the suits and tanks) Edited September 1, 2017 by Trevak Dal Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338876-reimagining-of-some-heroes/#findComment-4874064 Share on other sites
