Which primarch is next? Or will it be two?

Was looking through the Rumour mill thread when I had an epiphany. What if the eagle is a red herring designed to mislead us from the truth?

Codex:SM is released, so I think it’s unlikely that GW will go back (sorry Sons of Dorn). So that leaves the big three, BA, DA & SW being released later in the year. Sanguinus is dead, body interred at Baal, no coming back.

So people assume the Lion OR the Wolf, I was thinking why not both? I always thought (unless fluff I don’t know about) that Russ left the feast with his Bodyguards (except Bjorn) because he had heard word of the destruction of Caliban and went to find his brother ( I think after the events of the HH,they will be seen to have come closer, will see how Black Library play it out as they were said to have been in a joint fleet racing to Terra). Now not knowing what happened Russ wandered the galaxy, possibly getting lost in the EOT or the Webway.

Now it has been said in recent fluff that the the Lion’s resting place is empty, where’s he gone? How about he has awoken, seen what’s happened to Fenris and the galaxy at large and is seeking out Russ (maybe the watchers know where he’s caught up).

This could lead to a double realease of both Primarchs, two codii ( SW & Angels of death DA & BA)

Thoughts?

What about an unexpected primarch with the companion of the Legion of the Damned and some weird stuff?

It's a bit strange to have them out of the SM codex, and, due to the route GW is carrying with their previous releases in this ed. I think is unlikely to have a single unit codex.

Codex:SM is released, so I think it’s unlikely that GW will go back (sorry Sons of Dorn).

I don't disagree, but didn't GW specifically say they will continue to make new stuff, such as Primaris units, that weren't available in the codex, and we would just get the rules from the paper in the box? Then they'd release the new stuff in Chapter Approved or other supplement style books in the future? Or something like that.

I think most people have put their money down on the Lion. He is the perfect primarch to oppose Guilliman at this point. Remember Lion thought HE should take over after the Emperor. Guilliman is also wielding the Emperors sword, which is a big status symbol in knight culture. This may be enough to throw Lion into a rage; when he sees these primaris abominations and Guillimam mishandling that sword. Thus Lion will be blinded into confronting Guilliman.

This would also throw Russ into a predicament on who to choose if he came back. Guilliman whom he had opposed Imperium Secundus and the Codex, or the Lion whom he has a grudge match with. Russ's coming is also a big "well :curse is going down" prophecy in a few books.

As long as Ferrus and sanguinius don't return I'm not fussed

I would not mind Ferrus coming back as the ultimate Legion of the Damned primarch, like them forever silent, going along with their modus operandi, being the Imperial Wild Card. Similarly, Sanguinius coming back in the form of "Black Rage Sanguinor Ultimate", as a full-out Imperial Daemon. Would be amazing and both would not damage the setting or either of the First Foundings' identities.

Ferrus could easilly be leader of legion of the damned.

Sanguinor could also be the psychic/spiritual presence of Sangy.

As much as GW/BL is mocked for not following their own lore they have written loop holes (or alternative routes) for everything.

I 100% hate the idea of Ferrus Manus returning as the leader of the Legion of the Damned, especially since I don't think his "appearance" in Master of Mankind is as compatible with the notion as a lot of other people - that was an army of warriors made of psychic fire, not guys with flames painted on their armour - but also because goddamn, if you want to provide an inspiring leader for your Imperial Daemons, Sanguinius is away better choice. ;)

Legion of the Damned don't have flames painted on their armor. They're warp fire. And they're intangible ghosts too.

This.

Making them come back with complex lore reasons may not work.

Often sometimes the simplest approach would be the best

Manus already has the lore of coming back. In "Master of Mankind" he comes back as peoplr mentioned above.

The Horus vs Sangy fight is being rewritten and we dont know what to expect. I have heard rumors that Sangy soul is shattered. If so then in "Imperium of Darkness" Mortarion had been working for awhile collecting fragments of his adoptive fathers soul, so he could torture it. Sanguinor could be Sangy, sangy is slowly collecting pieces of his spirit. So when he finally collects himself together we could have sangy back.

This would also give them the "power bump" to bring them up to their Daemon brethrens level. Roboute Guilliman got a fancy suit (and maybe some xeno magic) making him Robot Guilliman. I just pray GW is kind to the lore in the near future. Also no wulfen Russ.

Horus is dead. Destroyed. Soul-shot. Mind-bullet. Erased. Finished. Over.

Plus his favoured “son” doesn’t like him either.

All other Primarchs can return.

Except for the headless one. He was a bit weird.

No ... no I didn’t like him at all.

If you havent noticed almost ALL the daemon primarchs favoured sons hate their fathers. Typhus, Ahriman, Abaddon, etc hated their fathers.

Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it can't happen. The "headless one" was Manus and he already came back after death once as we repeatedly said. While we are on topic of primarchs returning from death, horus was cloned and brought back. Fabius could do it again.
