Here's the Helbrute. I've had this model since it was released some time in the early 90s and I've been using it again now that it won't just explode if something heavier than a bolter is shot at it. It needs some final touches still but I'd like to see it painted.

@ IP: it is kind of strange to see you not doing IW! But those are fantastic! The highlight on the Nurgle Marine is subtle yet so striking! Also using blue as a complementary colour for the termies was a bold move and it sure paid off. Amazing models and amazing paint job! Always a pleasure to see your work IP!

Still Iron Warriors in the vow - 2 Predators, 2 Land Raider & Champion. Just not had the time to get them built right now, but hopeful have this Friday off & waiting for a replacement Land Raider after notice some holes on one of the side part of the model :(

++Call of Chaos++

Second update for Call of Chaos.

​I'm currently really busy right now trying to get a Black Templar army fully painted for a friend for the same gaming event this weekend. So all goes to plan, that should be finish tomorrow. It just mean, beside the weekend & Wed. All my time & focuse has been on trying get them complete. But if all goes to plan & I get them finish, I'm planning on taken Friday off to try get some my own models built like the Predator & Land Raider.

​But here what we have so far

​Exsalted Champion - This is just a quick conversion as I'm needing a Champion with Power Sword who will temporarily be part of the Iron Warrior squad I built last month for Throne of Skulls. I had a few points left, but not enough for the Power Fist Champion for this squad.

In the future the Power Sword Champion should have his own squad or maybe become part of my Shadow War kill team force.

I'm using a base I done a while back. So the plastic 25mm base will get remove & all that stuff will be rebase on a brand new 32mm base. Like I done two year ago when I ended up choseing to rebase my whole Iron Warriors force onto 32mm base as they just look cooler.

Nurgle Terminators

Nurgle Character - I was hoping to spend some time during last week getting him painted. But as said I've been really focuse on getting the Black Templar force for a friend painted first. Once that done I should have a bit more free time.

Plague Marine - Same as the Character. Painted a little bit during the week but I'm focuses on complete this Black Templar force.

Then got this lot during the weekend. I was only going to pick one or the other character, but they both look really cool & just ended up buying both.

Predator - One of the models I'm going to start building on Friday.

Land Raider - Aim build on Friday

Nurgle tank - Really nice model to build. I'm really like the whole new Nurgle range, want to try get that least one of everything that been release for it.

1. Iron Warrior Predator​ - As seen there, still on sprue. Aim to get the model built on Friday. All the plasticard armour done. Aim this one to be a Autocannon set up & heavy bolter side.
2. Iron Warrior Predator - Still to buy, aim for this one to be a Hellforge Predator. But unsure what I'm going to arm it with.
3. Iron Warrior Land Raider​ - As seen, still on sprue. Aim built on Friday.
4. Iron Warrior Land Raider - I said in last updated. After spray the model, I notice there was three hole. This has recently been dealt with & I should be getting a Land Raider arrive this week to replace it.
5. Iron Warrior Exalted Champion​ - Seen above with the Power Sword.
6. Plague Terminator​ - There pretty much there. Just as said I'm not keen on the Fly Terminator. So in a few week time I'm going check a few bitz site & try get part convert another Terminator to replace him or talk to few friends.
7. Plagueburst Crawler​ - That pretty much ready to go. So might get the model undercoated tomorrow along side the IW w/Melta & Power Sword champion & Terminator I need for the weekend.
8. Tallyman​ - Got, going to get him base ether tomorrow or most like Friday.
9. Plague Surgeon​ - Got, need base
10. Drone - Should be getting a week from Saturday
11. Foul Blightspawn​ - Currently been painted
12. Unit of Plague Marines​ - Currently been painted, need to add Champion & Icon bearer
13. Unit of Plague Maruies - A box has been order & should get them this week.
14. Putrifier - Should be getting a week on Saturday.

So one of the rare time where I've pretty much got everything that the start of Call of Chaos. Once everything built, painting not a issue for me.

First update.

 

After 5 years away from the hobby due to University, I have decided to return. The stars seemed to have aligned with 8th edition, the Death Guard codex, and the completion of my degree coinciding. Perhaps some influence from the changer of ways..

 

I have pledged to complete the following for the 10th call of chaos:

 

1 Daemon Prince

1 Helbrute

7 Plague Marines

Typhus

1 Rhino

7 Blightlords

3 Deathshroud

 

Only when I was typing that I accidentally put 1 helbrute instead of 2. I still plan on painting both as I am participating in a 1500 pt tournament in 3 weeks where I will need the Daemon Prince, both helbrutes and the 7 plague marines painted, in addition to rebasing and adding a few other details to the other models which I have already painted (Back when I started Death Guard in around 2011, I had about 1500 points already painted)

 

I have a huge amount of death guard to paint at the moment, in addition to the above I have 2 sets of dark imperium, 2 more squads of plague marines and mortarion sitting unassembled. I will try and keep you updated once a fortnight.

Plague marines and rhino. The rhino has forge world doors. The 6 of the plague marines are from dark imperium, 2 of which have arm swaps to give them different weapons, the 7th is a plague brethren also with arm swaps.



2 Helbrutes, one is an OOP forge world dreadnought, the other is a slightly converted dark vengeance helbrute.











Last but not least is my Daemon prince. It's been heavily converted from the plastic kit with a defiler face plate, some plasticard and a lot of green stuff.

On another note, what is the fastest/best way to upload images/posts? It took me ~45 minutes to do this post and I would like to be able to do it quicker.

On another note, what is the fastest/best way to upload images/posts? It took me ~45 minutes to do this post and I would like to be able to do it quicker.

Progress has been made. 

 

Everything is shaded. Everything has the mud painted on the bases. Nothing exciting to look at, sure, but that's a long process to get done. 

 

But the Rhinos? They're just about finished.

And the Cataphractii? Ah, they look so good. Being the Elite of the Elite, I felt some gold accents were entirely necessary. Tried doing the power effect as a wash/glaze instead of just a flat orange. I think I like it better. May have to go back and repeat the process on older models.

Of course, I still need to do some touch-ups, add decals, and include basing shrubbery... but that'll all happen in one big batch once painting is done. But hey, look at them shiny Lernaeans!

Managed to get some highlighting done on 5 of the Bez squad. Next is to highlight the silver and gold, then finish the skulls (nearly there)

I also tore apart the wings of my heldrake and gave them a detol bath, managed to get most of the pain of with a scoure (didnt have a spare tooth brush lol)

I've also started on Mortarion. I got this as a birthday gift, quite unexpected, and am currently working on it for a painting course. Can I add this to my pledge Captain?!

Spent most of today relaxing, but as I haven't got anything better to do, I decided to sort out my units. However I noticed I have a lot of characters and decided it wouldn't feel right if I did ALL characters for mine... so once I sort out which ones I'm vowing I miht try to at least make the unit ratio 1:1 Big detailed units to small characters.

 

The only problem so far is deciding if I'm going to bet using Ahriman on a disk or a custom DP/GD conversion made from the Everqueen's model for Unit #6. Which I am leaning somewhat towards because the beetle is also being entered as a conversion into a Maulerfiend. It just means my Thousand Sons would be likely to be unrepresented at all unless I took out a Word Bearer.... which I could. Hmm.

The sprue of the Dark Imperium seem intimidating! :unsure: But that huge... eyeball(?) in the belly of the Helbrute? Genius! Btw your sculpting work is amazing man! Keep going!

That's high quality work! As regards basing, given the amazing work on the minis, I'd go for something neutral - like mud of grey concrete... Avoid Martian Orange and other bright colours... I guess GW basing paints would go a long way to do something effective and fast that will not distract from the minis. My 2c.

Then got this lot during the weekend.  I was only going to pick one or the other character, but they both look really cool & just ended up buying both.

Nurgle tank - Really nice model to build.  I'm really like the whole new Nurgle range, want to try get that least one of everything that been release for it.

 

 

​So from the my Call of Chaos list, here how everything doing

 

Orange - Bought

White - Still get

1. Iron Warrior Predator​ - As seen there, still on sprue.  Aim to get the model built on Friday.  All the plasticard armour done.  Aim this one to be a Autocannon set up & heavy bolter side.
2. Iron Warrior Predator - Still to buy, aim for this one to be a Hellforge Predator.  But unsure what I'm going to arm it with.
3. Iron Warrior Land Raider​ - As seen, still on sprue.  Aim built on Friday.
4. Iron Warrior Land Raider - I said in last updated.  After spray the model, I notice there was three hole.  This has recently been dealt with & I should be getting a Land Raider arrive this week to replace it.
5. Iron Warrior Exalted Champion​ - Seen above with the Power Sword.
6. Plague Terminator​ - There pretty much there.  Just as said I'm not keen on the Fly Terminator.  So in a few week time I'm going check a few bitz site & try get part convert another Terminator to replace him or talk to few friends.
7. Plagueburst Crawler​ - That pretty much ready to go.  So might get the model undercoated tomorrow along side the IW w/Melta & Power Sword champion & Terminator I need for the weekend.
8. Tallyman​ - Got, going to get him base ether tomorrow or most like Friday.
9. Plague Surgeon​ - Got, need base
10. Drone - Should be getting a week from Saturday
11. Foul Blightspawn​ - Currently been painted
12. Unit of Plague Marines​ - Currently been painted, need to add Champion & Icon bearer
13. Unit of Plague Maruies - A box has been order & should get them this week.
14. Putrifier - Should be getting a week on Saturday.

So one of the rare time where I've pretty much got everything that the start of Call of Chaos.  Once everything built, painting not a issue for me.

 

 

Are you sure none of the above are finished? Like the Termies? They look more finished than any of my "finished" work. And as regards the Cypher, I may still vow him. ;)

First update.

 

After 5 years away from the hobby due to University, I have decided to return. The stars seemed to have aligned with 8th edition, the Death Guard codex, and the completion of my degree coinciding. Perhaps some influence from the changer of ways..

 

I have pledged to complete the following for the 10th call of chaos:

 

1 Daemon Prince

1 Helbrute

7 Plague Marines

Typhus

1 Rhino

7 Blightlords

3 Deathshroud

 

Only when I was typing that I accidentally put 1 helbrute instead of 2. I still plan on painting both as I am participating in a 1500 pt tournament in 3 weeks where I will need the Daemon Prince, both helbrutes and the 7 plague marines painted, in addition to rebasing and adding a few other details to the other models which I have already painted (Back when I started Death Guard in around 2011, I had about 1500 points already painted)

 

I have a huge amount of death guard to paint at the moment, in addition to the above I have 2 sets of dark imperium, 2 more squads of plague marines and mortarion sitting unassembled. I will try and keep you updated once a fortnight. 

 

 

On another note, what is the fastest/best way to upload images/posts? It took me ~45 minutes to do this post and I would like to be able to do it quicker.

 

Well, five years is a long time... Congratulations on completing your degree and congratulations for finding the drive to return to the hobby after such a long hiatus!

 

As regards posting pics, I guess the best way to do it is to make a gallery here in the B&C and upload the pics there straight from your computer. Then use their image address to edit them in your post by using the "image" button at the top of your editor (the blue-ish rectangle button). Alternatively, if you have uploaded them in photobucket or equivalent (maybe Fb - not sure), you can copy/paste the image address from there straight to here again using the "image" button. If you want to discuss more shoot me a PM.

And some Night Lords at last! I recall the time that everyone was going after the NLs but now you're the only one in the Call so far... Go for it man! Just edit the "before" pics in your original vow post when you get them. 

 

Progress has been made. 

 

Everything is shaded. Everything has the mud painted on the bases. Nothing exciting to look at, sure, but that's a long process to get done. 

 

But the Rhinos? They're just about finished.

 

And the Cataphractii? Ah, they look so good. Being the Elite of the Elite, I felt some gold accents were entirely necessary. Tried doing the power effect as a wash/glaze instead of just a flat orange. I think I like it better. May have to go back and repeat the process on older models.

 

Of course, I still need to do some touch-ups, add decals, and include basing shrubbery... but that'll all happen in one big batch once painting is done. But hey, look at them shiny Lernaeans!

 

Great, GREAT, work! I'm not entirely sure from the wording above though... Are you declaring the Rhinos complete? Please clarify so, if that's the case, I can record it in the participants list. Those termies look fantastic!

 

Managed to get some highlighting done on 5 of the Bez squad. Next is to highlight the silver and gold, then finish the skulls (nearly there) 

 

 

 

I also tore apart the wings of my heldrake and gave them a detol bath, managed to get most of the pain of with a scoure (didnt have a spare tooth brush lol) 

 

 

Amazing shade of red... I just feel sorry for the poor Heldrake! Very nice and crisp work - keep it up!

I've also started on Mortarion. I got this as a birthday gift, quite unexpected, and am currently working on it for a painting course. Can I add this to my pledge Captain?!

 

Great start there... So you're going for white rather than the sickly green? Good choice. Brave choice may I add! And Mortarion? What Mortarion? 

 

Spent most of today relaxing, but as I haven't got anything better to do, I decided to sort out my units. However I noticed I have a lot of characters and decided it wouldn't feel right if I did ALL characters for mine... so once I sort out which ones I'm vowing I miht try to at least make the unit ratio 1:1 Big detailed units to small characters.

 

The only problem so far is deciding if I'm going to bet using Ahriman on a disk or a custom DP/GD conversion made from the Everqueen's model for Unit #6. Which I am leaning somewhat towards because the beetle is also being entered as a conversion into a Maulerfiend. It just means my Thousand Sons would be likely to be unrepresented at all unless I took out a Word Bearer.... which I could. Hmm. 

 

Soooo convoluted! :D I say go for the custom conversion of the Everqueen... It's irony of it!
