HH Rulebook - rules updates discussion

Not so much conflicts as really potent interactions.  For example, Leviathan reduces the number of compulsory troops you must take and get an extra heavy slot, which is great for Rites that are saddled with 3+ troop requirements.  The drawback is you have to go last, but that's not an issue for Alpha Legion who are masters at seizing initiative (either 4+ with re-roll from Alpharius or 5+ with re-roll from Skorr).

Afraid not, this is just a reprint of the 7th ed rules, geared to HH with a few FAQ and update changes. No points changes to existing army lists etc.

There is one change to existing army lists.  Graviton Imploders went from a critical tool for Mechanicum armies to handle Custodes and primarchs to being utterly worthless.

Asked my friend about the RoW's and the FOC interactions. It doesn't say anything about rites of war in the core rules that he can see. So you'd still be going by your other red books, which the marine one is quite clear about.

Trust gamers to jump to the most extreme conclusion and try to mank the game before the book is even cold from the printers yet.

The core rulebook is not the place to discuss rites of war because only space marines get them.

Call me a little confused, but what exactly does it mean for my Death Guard on being able to run Imperial Knights (standard plastic kit variants crusader / errant etc) anywhere as LoW or Allied unit or any other way that I am not aware of please?

Could you not run a talon of 3 leviathans for one HS slot?

Now that’s positively evil...

I love it :biggrin.:

True, but you can't pod them at that point...

If you want to go full "DREADNOUGHTS DOWN YOUR THROAT" and points limit isnt a concern, consider:

Elites:

Contemptor in pod

Contemptor in pod

Contemptor in pod

Heavy Support:

Levi in pod

Levi in pod

Levi in pod

Levi in pod

7 pods so you can drop 4 on T1

BUUUUUT, does Onslaught let you use Pods is what I'm foggy on right now.

To be fair, we're talking about 5000 points in Leviathans alone, so a game at that level would be quite interesting.  I would have to bring a LOT of grav weapons though.

Nah, 12 Leviathans, all Claw + Drill + Phospex.

That``s the way it needs to be

That'd be my read, what's changed is that all armies have specific access to the alternate force orgs which are no longer restricted by consent.

The new books gives standard rules for Lords of War, largely a re-print of the most recent list with the exception that 'War-Machine Detachment' no longer mentions Questoris Knights like the AoD LA book does. Given that the rules for Lords of War have almost always been separated from the army lists themselves the 'most recent version' standard would indicate you can no longer take a single Knight as a LoW in an Astartes army -  you would need to take a Questoris Knight allied detachment or use the Leviathan force org with an Astartes allied detachment.

Personally I'd have no issue with a single knight though, a position I think most people would agree on given the lore of indentured and allied Knight houses.

Multi use Grenade launchers you sayyyyy...

*rubs mandibles menacingly*

Here come my dark angel Ironwing vet squads with sniper on stasis grenades. Say hello to rending blast weapons that always wound on a 3+ and reduce initiative by one.

Muwahahaha
