Any ideas when the Siege of Terra novel(s) is published?

Recommended Posts

Apparently they were planning to just cover it via FW, the Titanicus game and short stories. The novel has only just been commissioned.

Seems like the perfect storm between Titanicus delays and demand for a proper novel and coverage of the events.

Makes sense, what with Promethean Sun and Scorched Earth being left out of other collections. Curious about whether it will include Sons of the Forge. Would be too short without I think, unless it has other (non-Salamander) stories in. Actually, given that Nick Kyme is listed as the sole author, that strongly suggests Sons of the Forge being included, unless there's new material.

Also, according to Weekender reports, the fall of the Death Guard book is confirmed and will be the pemultimate book before the Siege.

Wolfsbane should be out generally in April/May, and I'd been guessing on June for a Salamanders anthology. Given that, maybe August for Slaves to Darkness, another collection anthology in October, and the Death Guard book to wrap up the year? Which would just leave one more in early 2019 before it all kicks off.

And then in 12 months time we'll get the Guy Haley novel about Beta-Garmon

Alas, I think BL said they're not doing a novel on Beta-Garmon itself. Maybe leaving it to FW? Of course that might have changed, but I think that's the last I heard.

Shame that Slaves of Darkness is now being pushed back further with yet another anthology pushed in between. With the Salamanders reprints now out in June that means John French's novel moves to August, most likely.

BTW for those interested ( and if you're reading this thread you are the target audience), a report here on the seminar:

Angron will approach the wall and issue terms to Sanguinius.

Khan will fight Fulgrim.

How many books? Can’t say a definite number. They should be relatively punchy on the release schedule.

Keeler will have a role.

The Death Guard’s fall to Nurgle will be before the Siege of Terra mini series (the penultimate).

Capital news!

Curious about this bit from Garro's post:

"Practically every HH writer will be doing their own novel covering a section of the war."

There have been a grand total of 23 authors writing for the series at one time or another, so I'm assuming there's some leeway here.

So many things I want. But namely:

Wraight to cover the Khan, mainly his Fulgrim fight and retaking Lions Gate.

ADB and Abnett to cover Sanguinius last stand at the Eternity Gate(staredown with Angron too) and the final battle on the Vengeful Spirit. I’d be happier with either doing one half. Though it would be cool to see Abnett close the series as well.

Also French showing Dorn would be nice.

@ Angel of Blood

Lions Gate should be a Khan/Mortation re-match, no?

I would actually prefer a Fulgrim fight, but I believe there are two strikes against that

1. Fulgrim and his EC are off torturing civilians in Terran living quarters

2. By the Siege, Fulgrim is a massively powerful Daemon Primarch...this would probably go badly for the Khan

Do we have any confirmation on who will be writing the Death Guard's fall to Nurgle?

I don't believe so. A lot of folks (myself included) would love for Wraight to do it, but it seems unlikely. Another suggestion is James Swallow, since he has done some other Death Guard stories, but I don't think anything's been confirmed, just speculated on.

so is this realistic?

HH48 - The Burden Of Loyalty (out now)

HH49 - Wolfsbane - Guy Haley - (May 2018)

HH50 - Born Of Flame - Nick Kyme - (June 2018)

HH51 - Slaves To Darkness - John French - (Aug 2018 assuming we go back to 2 monthly releases)

Then we have another anthology or 2 to squeeze in?

HH## - Fall Of The Death Guard - author unknown

HH## - Beta-Garmon - Guy Haley (only just been commissioned but he's probably BL's fastest writer so early 2019?)

If every decent author (Abnett, McNeill, ADB, Wraight, Swallow, French, Haley and Thorpe) gets their own full novel at the siege as hinted at the weekender , we could arrive at around 65 novels once you factor in another few anthologies

That's much what I'm expecting too.

If we set aside The Honoured and The Unburdened, there are 33 shorts not yet collected (including the upcoming Blackshields: The Red Fief). I think 13 of those are under the "Primarchs" heading, so that makes me wonder if they'll eventually do a Primarchs shorts collection (which could be outside the numbered series, or at least might not come until after the Siege starts, since Primarchs is probably running until late 2020). So maybe the remaining 20 or so shorts would make a solid anthology, similar to War Without End? Just guesswork of course.

I think it'd be a damn shame if they didn't release the first Siege novel mid-February/March* one year.

Which, of course, will be titled: The Thirteenth of Secundus (subtitle: The Bombardment Begins).

Written by whoever, about whatever.

* There was some debate whether it meant '13th February' or '213012M31', e.g. the thirteenth section of the second** year-segment by Imperial reckoning. Or the thirteenth full-day in the second section of Imperial reckoning, which I vaguely remember as being late-March our calendar? Gods, this could give someone a headache. I expect them to devote a complete High Lords session to figuring it out though.

** Assuming something High Gothic exists covering the 000-099 section of the calendar before Primus - otherwise it'd move to the 10th of February, thereabouts.

we also have this to factor in that was in the journal this weekend

029.012.M31 - The Dark Angels destroy Chemos, the home world of the Emperor's Children

398.013.M31 - The Dark Angels destroy Barbarus, home world of the Death Guard

the lion will obviously get a taste for destroying traitor home worlds ....

I think that leaves Cthonia as the only one not in some way accounted for (aside from the Alpha Legion of course). Maybe that's where the Lion turned his gaze next? Or maybe it was dealt with post-Heresy.

There's something about this level of retribution that makes me want to see more of The Lion in action!

Yes, that sounds reasonable and likely.

Slaves of Darkness in August I think and hope. After that, yet another anthology or straight on to the Fall of the Death Guard novel ( has to be Swallow I think).

Haley's novel could indeed be the next one after that because he is so fast. He finished Wolfsbane in 2017 , has finished Dark Imperium II and is on to a new novel now which may, or may not be, the Beta Garmon novel.
