"In the name of the Emperor and Lord Commander , I  Tallarn Commander of the Tallarn 23rd Light Regiment, shall raise one (1) Platoon Commander and one (1) Platoon Command Squad by 31st March."

Grey Platoon Commander Lieutenant Grey seen here with her command squad. The squad was amalgamated into the Tallarn 23rd after Operation Market Garden's success. Sadly their parent regiment, the Praetorian 8th, was mostly destroyed while defending the IG southern flank during the operation.

This should be another fun B&C IG painting event! I've really enjoyed seeing everyone's hobbying develop during the last 2 events.

"In the name of the Emperor and Lord Commander , I Major Onslow of the Astolate 352nd, shall raise a  Primaris psyker by 31st March."

KIlD5bp.jpg

I know they are all assembled and undercoated, but hopefully the commissariat will let them be entered. I'm looking forward to the motivation to get them done.

Is it just me, or does that Psyker look like he has had a big night out and now can't find his car...

Good to see lots of eager commanders in the ranks!

Updated with vows in the OP.
There are still a few outstanding before pictures. So don't forget to take some snaps of your models before you get too far down the road with them!

Also there are a few vows that are just single units, which is fine! However, to be eligible for promotion most, FOC types require 2 units of that category to be painted.

Now I need to dig out the models I have laying around to see what I need to vow!

PS. If you don't see your name and vow in the OP, or there is an error with it please let me know!

Once my Pith helmets turn up from Anvil (YAY!) I'll add a WIP picture. I do have some Kasrkin models kicking about I could add to my vow - Scions are still troops choices right?

First I just want a quick verification on the rules.  We can do each FOC vow multiple times correct? Like if I did 4 HQ's it would count as 2 sets of 2 HQs?

I'd like to tentatively Vow a few things.  It's tentative just because I'm not sure if some of the things will qualify.  Most of what I have is primed some base coated and a couple are a little farther. I'll make my case for those when I post post the pictures (hopefully this weekend).

4 Commanders

2 Command squads

2 Leman Russ Conquerors

2 Basilisks

2 Heavy Weapons squads

2 Sentinels

The first piece of Lore has been transcribed, here is the lore for Victorak  tell me what you think (to long, to short) hope you all enjoy

Lore of character: Company commander Victorak "hero of Factorum 43"

Bio

Name: Victorak Monark

Age: 128

Regiments: Cadian 583rd (disbanded) Valion 1st

Rank: Field Commander

Weapon: Power fist, Laspistol, Lasrifle

Tactics: Urban entrenched warfare, open field Anti-tank

Warlord Trait: Superior Tactical Training

early years

Commander Victorak Monark started his military career as most do by simply being born onto Cadia as It Is instant recruitment into the Imperial guard Victorak spend his first 18 years training, being drafted as part of the 583rd Cadian 4th company 2nd platoon. His first deployment as a white shield took him to the far off world of Motak VI; he spent the good part of the next three years being shoved into trenches and being told to hold the line his promotion to full Cadian Guardsmen came after he cut the head off several Gretchin. Following on from the campaign Victorak was assigned to a mortar team running locations back and forth between the main command tent and the field Mortars to prevent triangulation via Voxfeeds this continued for several more years.

First command

with fresh Squads being brought in or other units being absorbed from faltering regiments Victorak was given command of his own Squad as part of the 4th company 2nd platoon his charge was an Infantry squad supported by a Missile launcher his squad would go on to down many both Xeno and Traitor guard most notably the captured Leman Russ of the [Redacted] Cult on the Hiveworld [Redacted] where he also obtained his now iconic Powerfist off the Fallen Platoon commander Ersha Ivanstead, he was then awarded Veteran status and chosen to be part of the 2nd platoons Command Squad as a Voxcaster unit.

Veteran years

As a member of the platoons own command squad Victorak found himself out of the front line and being held back alongside their platoon commander away from the main fight, while he did find himself relaying command orders out to many of the squads when it did come to engaging in combat most if not all the work was handled by the teams Heavy flamer. To say that his time in the Command squad was safe by Guardsmen standards is correct his promotion to Platoon commander did not come out of a grand act of battle but as the event of promotion due to the 4th company, 5th platoon officers death when his Chimera exploded during an engagement.

Hero of Factorum 43

During the 7th year of his service as 4th company 5th Platoons, Platoon officer he was deployed to the far off Forge world of Icarus VIII which had been beset by a large Ork WHAAAG!, the fighting has turned badly for the members of the  583rd as they began to lose ground across the planet, Victorak had been put into a bind his entire platoon has been caught escorting Civilians to the inner Factorum district for evacuation when they had been cut off in one of the sectors thinking as best he could he took the remaining three infantry squads, two grenadier teams, one heavy bolter squad, one Autocannon squad, Company command squad and the 370 Civilians and bunkered down inside Factorum XLIII, using the servators and factories machinery he was able to create a strong hold out insisting many of the Civilians as conscripts using any spare weaponry or equipment the squad had on hand. While not the full might of the Ork WHAAAG! The number of greenskins killed attempting to take the building would be considered for any other measure to be shockingly high for the number of guardsmen and conscripted civilians bunkered down inside, the events of that day would bring Victorak recognition within his regiment.

Valion Campaign

With the threat of Tau in the eastern fringe growing a small Imperium backed rebellion on the Planet Valion was struck to overthrow and bring the planet back under the fold of the greater Imperium of man, once the main force of the Invasion was put into effect full command of the 4th company was handed over to Victorak. Using the full might of the 4th company to entrench the eastern continent was able to use Infantry squads supported by Lascannons to create pocket zones where the Tau wouldn’t be able to use Battlesuits without taking massive casualties for little to no tactical gain, using the technique Victorak was able to create a several hundred kilometre long series of connected trench lines blocking major supply chains for the Tau, what little heavy fighting the 4th company saw was split into attempts to line break or major pushes to blast a hole inside the trenches but despite the Taus technological advantage Victorak faith, the Imperial guards numbers and control of the terrain meant that the continual reinforcement and bolstering of the trench line turned any advantage of the Tau back onto themselves by the time the trench finally broke so much time and resources had been spent the sector of the planet has fully been taken by the Imperium.

The Loebos Campaign

With the Cadian 583rd disbanded to rejuvenate the local population Commander Victorak was assigned Company commanded of the 1st Valion regiment 1st company while the offer for full command of the Regiment was offered to him, Victorak turned down the offer to remain in the field alongside most of other veterans of Cadian 583rd who didn’t themselves retire or receive promotions. Deciding late into his 100s to forgo constant rejuvenation treatments to appear older and wiser the respect his solders gave did increases. The first major conflict Victorak was assigned to deploying to the planet Loebos the 1st company saw heavy fighting with many traitors, [Redacted] and a [Redacted] before being redeployed to the Valion subsector to help with the continual push to remove the Tau from the sector

On the day of our Emperor, M3.018.0118 Task Force Anglia took part in a Major Action against the might of the Grey Knights in a case of mistaken identity. The Grey Knights offered No Mercy to the task force detachment, believing us to be heretics when in fact we are not. The Grey Knight force contained Kaldor Draigo, Grand Master Voldus, a Grand Master in what appeared to be a device for carrying infants, several strike squads and a 2 Paladin squads.

They came at us with psychic might, causing several brave troopers to perish, but we held firm as our own Psykers did all they could to protect our valiant souls. Then they fired upon us, causing yet more death and wiping out First squad, whilst causing losses in second and third squads. Then came the charge. Our Hellhammer, the Emperor's Hammer, slew a Paladin as they charged whilst injuring another, their physical forms protected by Psychic power. Our Hellhound, Dragon's Breath, bathed the attacking strike squad in blessed Promethium, but again only 1 lay slain. The paladin squad was unable to destroy the Emperor's Hammer, although caused a lot of damage. In return, the blessed armour of 2 Paladins was breached by the Adamantium Tracks and will forever be embedded in them.

After the Grey Knights initial strike had landed, we reacted. The Emperor's Hammer disengaged the remaining Paladins and the Brotherhood Ancient, Dragon's Breath disengaged his foe after suffering minimal damage to protect our Psykers. The rest of the line held, ready to defend ourselves against our attackers, ensuring that they would not succeed in their attempts to purge us. Our Psykers struck back, manifesting a shroud of night onto the Hammer and a Psychic Maelstrom that killed another Paladin. Our guns began to speak. Our basilisk slew a couple of strike team members, mortars accounted for 3 more. The untouched Paladin unit lost 1 of their number to the Lascannon team. The remainder of 3rd squad failed to do anything, whilst their Missile Launcher accounted for another Paladin. 2nd squad failed in their attempts to breach the armour of the remaining Paladins, whilst thier heavy bolter slew a member of a strike team. The scout sentinel and Chimera did no damage. Knight Commander Pask slew a Paladin, whilst his 2 Leman Russ Charges finished off the squad and killed another strike team member. Then the Hammer spoke, damaged but defiant, it finished off the unit of Paladins that caused it offense then slightly damaged the Dreadknight.

In a death or glory attempt, the driver crushed the Brotherhood Ancient under his Adamantium Tracks.

The Grey Knights, incensed by their losses, came again. Draigo, Voldus, the Dreadknight attacked along with what remained of the strike squads. Psychic energy rippled through, crippling but not destroying the Hammer and slaying another couple of members of 3rd Squad. Their firepower accounted for our anti infantry heavy weapon unit, more damage on 3rd squad, who were left with their Sergeant and Missile team, and the command squad. Then came the charge. Dragon's Breath incinerated another strike squad member, his heavy bolter accounting for another. Draigo and Voldus charged the Hammer. The Dreadknight charged our Leman Russ. Draigo suffered multiple wounds to Overwatch but would not be slain. The Hammer was then critically damaged, but in a last ditch effort, the driver attempted to run over Draigo, but only succeeded in clipping him, leaving him on a vulnerable state before finally being destroyed.

At the loss of the Hammer, one of our Psykers was so distressed, his rage caused a maelstrom that melted Draigo's mind. Our guns spoke again, Pask and the Demolisher caused severe damage to the Dreadknight our infantry wiped out the remnants of 2 strike squads and almost finished off another, the Basilisk almost finished off the Dreadknight but didn't quite succeed.

A lone strike team member caused a vortex that finished off 3rd squad, caused heavy casualties in 2nd squad and killed our company commander, but his efforts burnt his mind and he was dragged into the warp. The Dreadknight failed to do any damage. Voldus and the strike team engaged with the Dragon's Breath destroyed it, causing a cataclysmic explosion that killed my 2 remaining psykers, the remnants of the strike team and took 3 wounds off of Voldus. The Dreadknight made use of all his luck to reach Pask without further harm, but failed to cause significant damage.

One last time, my guns turned on the remnants of this force of Grey Knights, finally destroying the Dreadknight, all remaining strike teams and leaving voldus critically injured, who then retreated to his battle Barge, the sole Grey Knight survivor of the conflict, to lick his wounds and contemplate defeat like the coward he is.

Hail the Emperor. The Emperor Protects

The Commissariat have reviewed the current progress of the event so far.

We are indeed pleased to see the vigour in which the commanders of the Imperial Guard have answered the call of Terra.

To reward such enthusiasm, we are changing slightly the requirements of the event!

Each commander shall now receive a promotion for each unit they vow!

As opposed to currently, where you are required to complete a minimum number of units (generally 2) to receive a promotion.

There will however be a limit on how many units per FoC slot you can complete to receive a promotion.

Generally speaking the limit on each FoC slot will be 3, while troops will be 6.

3 units maximum

  • HQ
  • Elites
  • Fast Attack
  • Heavy Support
  • Lords of War
  • Flyers
  • Dedicated transports

6 units maximum

  • Troops

For the bonus promotions you will eligible for a promotion of each piece submitted to the maximum of

  • 1 Regimental lore piece
  • 2 Character background pieces
  • 2 Batreps

With this new system there is the potential to outstrip the number of ranks available for the budding commander. However all units completed will be noted on your Campaign Badge and will count towards the overall total when deciding the new Castellan.

I will update the OP to reflect this.

Chris521, I hope this answers your question previously ;)

Keep it up guardsmen! Lets see some WiP pic's come through too! :tu:
