I wrote my post and realised that Nineswords hadn't posted, went to bed, wake up and my computer had restarted and lost everything. Oh well! The first post was actually worst for you guys, this one had almost all the servitors missing almost all their shots!

Pfff, if this divine intervention, we should quite obviously be thanking the Omnissiah for delivering us into an alternate virtuality ;)

But is the Emperor not the living embodiment of the Omnissiah?

So, do you thank the Hand catching you or the Person that Hand belongs to? :p

And I believe the Emperors0mnissiah thingy is not totally settled - at least among certain Mechanicus factions? That might be topic for another thread and day though...

It's interesting to hear Steel Company saying that close combat is devastating in Deathwatch, but both squads seem to be holding their own!

I  also enjoy that if each turn is supposed to take about five seconds, the squads have absolutely decimated these rooms in about twenty seconds or so!

Something I've been thinking about is creating a document where I have each squad member and "things to remember" - so, for example the various characters with lightning reflexes, Tyber's quirky armour, etc. I also was thinking about the Chapter-specific abilities. You guys would tell me the things you want me to remember, and then I can create it.

I can help you there CM.. as to quirky armour, well everyone's armour has quirks to it... 'cept for Mk. VII, that's stuff is just plane Jane....

When I say that CQB is devastating, once power weapons are introduced to us, you start to see powerful combinations such as lighting strikes (three melee attacks), combined with dual weapon wielder will lend a character 4 attacks in CQB...

Just as an example:

Tyber with a Power Fist and Power sword (one in each hand, with the Power Fist being in his off hand) would have the following attacks:

3 x 1d10+16 Pen 6 Damage type E

1 x 2d10+14 Pen 9 Damage type E

That damage out put is using Tyber's current strength calculation, by the time he's up to getting those weapons it wouldn't be unreasonable to think that those numbers could be higher.

By the same token, most errata ranged weapons (that are not heavy bolters) have a hard time matching up to that kind of damage, their advantage being that they can do it out side of CQB... Hell things like a Carnifex are down right frighting to see in CQB...

A return to narrative for now! Both kill-teams are leaving their cargo holds through the other door than you arrived. You have an opportunity to talk to one another. Remember that you have been training for two solid days in various configurations - the idea is that you are starting to gain an understanding of one anothers' skills in combat - whereas before you had only talked.

Awesome posts as we have come to expect -  just to clarify, both teams are exiting from the "top" of the map - there is a door that has thus far been sealed.

I will hold off from updating as I am looking forward to your amazing narrative posts. Plus, I have plenty to prepare....

I've been following the first episode since you guys started this. It's awesome and I'd like to do it if there was one that started up again sometime. Awesome work guys.

Thanks Jagus! It's gratifying to hear that we have spectators, and I hope you're enjoying it.

The best thing for you to do is to be involved in the OOC thread, as I know the players would enjoy an outside perspective - and if a player drops out or I have an opportunity to include another player, then I will try to do so!

I was writing SMITING HERETICS WITH a post detailing what AWESOME STUFF Vaidan was up to... and it got wiped after I hit the wrong key on my keyboard. AND WAS TAKEN BY SURPRISE Absolutely livid.

Intelligence 70+10(Life Skills)+10(Espresso Coffee) = Target 90.

D100 Roll: 99, Crit Fail.

FTFY.

@ Jagus, glad you're enjoying it - I hope we provide you with inspiration and entertainment :)

MR.

SC, I wonder if Tyber would truly possess the technical knowledge to ask that question - if you're asking based on 21st century scientific knowledge rather than 41st millennium suspicion. Even if you envisage a Dark Angels successor that clings to Great Crusade rationality, I think we do need to think about some of the limitations of the Astartes mindset!

CM, okay.... I'll make some changes tonight after my kids are in bed... I'll try to dumb it down for the Astartes mindset.... though who is to say that they cannot be scholars and warriors?

Revised version up

Edited by Steel Company

Man, trying to in-universe explain the way Tyranids, Genestealers and Genestealer cults function/startup/communicate/etc. from an Apothecaries perspective was not easy and I seriously doubt I even managed to do that :P

Enjoyable, though!

Two things, though: you are not in the lift, you are walking to exit the room via a door, and Syndalla is an agri-world.

(Have you considered the enhanced senses of the Space Wolf?)

I feel for you. The "science" of 40K is so messed up, it is hard enough to grasp an idea of it from the outside. Which makes sense in a way, I guess, in conveying the loss of knowledge in the setting, I guess. From an in character view, it is just ...daunting. Especially in a case like this, where an Apothecary could be assumed to have at least a chance of enhanced understanding, even if most it is probably hypno conditioning and rote learning. The biologis component is even less defined and worse than the technical aspects fluffwise. For all the genenhanced and transhuman Blabla in the newer Lore (or the novels mostly) there is very little to work from.

When I was designing my Biologis Explorator for the RT game some time back, I found little more than footnotes. Which makes it pretty tough to project how Imperial Biology would describe Genestealer to Tyranids, who are in the end not only extraterrestrial but extragalactic. It's why I quite like when people like Abnett or ADB go out of their way to add some flavor words or fluff to such things.

Which is quite hard work, so I think you did pretty well for a PBP post on a Friday night ;)

Also, Mol might be on to something there, the SW senses might smell there is " something" wrong with a Hybrid in the way animals can smell if the prey is ill or the like and thus unsafe to eat.
