Micah's Dark Eldar

I will confess that I don't know how to switch the title.

I liked the metallic blue color, but I didn't like that it was metallic. The dark blue is easier due to having 4 or 5 blue colors that all kind of blend into each other. With the exception of the blood streaks, everything used is Vallejo. I like Vallejo mostly because I can get some of it locally. I use a combination of Vallejo Model Air, Vallejo Game Air, and Vallejo Model paints. The blues from dark to light are Vallejo Model Dark Prussian Blue, Vallejo Model Dark Blue, Vallejo Game Air Magic Blue, and Vallejo Game Air Electric Blue.

White is Vallejo Model Ivory. All the skin is Ivory mixed with a Vallejo light purple color I forget the name of.

All the metallics are Vallejo Liquid Gold/Silver alcohol based paints. I highly recommend them, they give great coverage in one pass.

The blood streaks are a combination of Vallejo black and brown mixed with Tamiya clear red. The mixture is allowed to dry partially on the pallet and is then applied to the model after it thickens up some. There is a tutorial for this on the Massive Voodoo sight.

I realized last night that just about all my brushes suck, so I ordered my first series 7, hopefully my accuracy will improve a bit with a brush that doesn't have a curved tip.

Did some more work tonight on my start collecting set. Everything in the box is now assembled and base coated.

Finished my Archon except for the base.

Worked some more on the jet bike as I wasn't satisfied with it, I'm much more satisfied now:

And finally the warrior squad. I preprinted these the first two base colors with my airbrush before removing everything from the sprue. They were washed with black and blue wash and are currently drying:

As of today I am officially getting a Christmas bonus for last Christmas, so I will be able to complete my army purchases in the near future. Any recommendations on how to expand from what I have? I figure I need at least 2 more raiders and units to put in them. I'd like to be able to field at least a battalion and spearhead/vanguard/outrider detachment.

Scourges and Mandrakes are your friends. Both are good deepstrikers though Mandrakes tend to survive a little longer thanks to their rules slapping a -1 to hit them.

If you run scourge heavy what HQ do you pair them with? I was looking into a brigade using mostly wracks for troops buffed by a duo of haemonculai and some Chronos all on foot, and then filling out the FA section with scourges after my reavers and hellions.

I figured a bunch of +1 toughness wracks on foot could make it to the enemy lines. Thoughts?

Considering all our characters can only footslog, and you probably want to be deep striking scourges, I wouldn't run them with any characters. Plus we just don't really have any auras that help them out all that much. Fingers crossed that will change though in the new dex.

I like the blue, but that is a ton of blu on that model, keeping the gun and phantasm grenade launcher the same color as the armor seems like a bit much.

Agreed could do with another color on the mid section and feet like black/purple.

Other than that I like how it looks.

Yeah, I'm going to do the guns in the dark purple, I just haven't done it yet.

As an aside I found some old modified Wyches I had originally bought to kit bash into death cult assassins, and as I was assembling my hellions today I used some extra parts to kitbach a pair of succubai

They need paint still

I lost horribly by not playing to my strengths, my warriors did the most damage. Bikes killed some nurglings for first blood, then died. Hellions got charged and lost more in morale than they did from the charge. Succubus was flattened by a great unclean one. I was tabled after not utilizing my mobility to my advantage.

I bought a box of scourges and another box of warriors while I was there.

I was playing against an army whose longest ranged attack was 7", I should have just kited all game while staying 18" away; flying out of the rare time he made it into combat.

I discovered that we should really only engage in decisive close combat, preferably where you know you can wipe the opposing unit in one turn. Sticking in is not our strength. Hit and run is.
