From Advanced Tau Tactica. Some Insider tester unofficial leaks. Stated he can't reveal more until GW official announces it through warhammer-community. But he did state the following.

First THE BAD : SALT TIME

"If people are already complaining about T’au, here a few negative things haha.

1 commander per detachment No changes to the markerlight table No improvement to BS (across the board) Railguns are the same no changes "

The OK : Savior protocols are changing AGAIN

"Old version Hit roll wound roll select-saviour

New version Hit roll wound roll armor/invuln roll roll >2+saviour FNP 5+ shield drone"

The GOOD : From RIPtide to REAPtide

"Ion hammerhead, Burst/IonTIDE firepower has skyrocketed while the point cost dropped hard. Plus there's two insane stratagems for them."

Closer

"All I can tell is that I have a massive tournament coming in two months and I'm dropping my Custodes and Thousand Sons list to play T'au instead. Also buy Riptides and a couple Hammerheads (with Ion Cannons) if you don't have them. You'll thank me later."

"The upsides will come from massive point drops on base costs and weaponry, and massive buff to weapons characteristics. Sometimes both, which can make for some crazy stuff. Like a Heavy 18 S6 -1 2dmg gun for 35 points ;)"

=/

not liking the sounds of it if true for commanders

The 1 Commander per Detachment isn't too bad imo, however the rest of that sounds absolutely terrible!

If that's the case my T'au might be shelved for a while longer considering that my army consists of mainly Stealth Suits, Ghostkeels and Pathfinder and the only thing that puts me off is that I can't hit crap while having expensive units. I'm not using any Hammerheads except for the Railgun one and I don't plan to add any Riptides to my army so the buffs to those don't matter at all to me.

*Sadface*

Sadly, none of this surprises me. Commander Spam was kind of a problem, we've seen how much GW wants to change Tau BS, and I'm not really surprised that they didn't want to dive into how the markerlight system works. Hopefully the point drops are across the board, the fire power upgrades are for more than just Riptide and hammerheads, and we get a few surprises (maybe seekers become d3 MW).

Edit: Maybe Stealths will get full access to Crisis weapons :D

Yeah a nerf to the Commander spam was to be expected and I don't think anything except such a hard cap would've worked without ruining the Commander itself since he's basically just a better Crisis Suit anyway.

A BS change wasn't something I expected either, however I hoped for a better Markerlight table. So many ways to improve it as the community has shown plenty of times in several forums. Haechi said there are a LOT of point drops all across the Codex which is kinda 'meh' since it doesn't make T'au units better, just cheaper so we can take more. Not really what I wanted for Battlesuits to be honest.

Honestly, without a way to apply Markerlights without having to hit with BS4+ units reliably we're pretty much screwed against all those negative to-hit modifier. I've seen some T'au armies doing okay by using multiple Firesight Marksman units since it's protected by the Character rule and has BS3+ but what about our other units? Pathfinder suffer a lot with their BS4+ and Markerlight Drones are simply unplayable against negative to-hit modificators without some buff.

And we're "just" talking about Markerlights here. That's not even our real shooting. It's just what we need to do before we can shoot as well as other armies.

To compare with just Marines who aren't even a top tier army currently:

Space Marines have BS3+ across their army and can apply re-rolls of 1s simply by having a captain nearby. That buff is applied with 100% certainty every round and hard to remove due the Character rule. To get the same thing we have to hit with 5(!) Markerlights which becomes increasingly harder to do the more negative to-hit modificators there are and are comparably easy to remove unless it's something like the Firesight Marksman. Plus the Marine firebase could freely select targets and split fire without loosing anything while we have to focus on a single unit or go back to BS4+ without re-rolls.

That's just sad and really not the army I liked to play in 7th where my shooting felt a lot more reliable.

Basically, if not a BS increase, the way Markerlights get applied has to change and/or the +1 to-hit modificator has to move further down the table. It doesn't seem like anything like that happens tho.

Anyway, I don't want to cry too much since we don't have the Codex in our hands yet and it's only a rumour (tho I believe most if not all is true knowing Haechi from ATT and seeing his reaction after it got posted everyhwere). However if they don't surprise us with the support systems, breathtaking relics and/or better character auras than the ones we have from the Index I don't foresee us a great future. The Markerlight Stratagem is nice but not enough and relying on CP to be able to do the only thing we actually can do would be just bad.

Trust me, I feel your pain, I've been regularly disappointed with how GW treats the Tau. I'm willing to bet that they're not changing markerlights right now because that would require more playtesting, since it is a wide reaching mechanic, and they're dealing with other things.

Stealth Suits are basically the main force of my army together with Pathfinder. Anything that makes them better is more than welcome. Tho I bet everything I have that Stealth Suits won't get any new weapon options since they don't come with the box. :P

I'm at a sort of crossroads of my life. Maybe it's a midlife crisis, but I'm looking at improving myself. I don't hang out with my friends who played 40k anymore, and I'm too lazy to go out to the clubs and play.

Now I could sell my stuff for some money. But I'm lazy, and my first step mom beat into me the need to "break away" from stuff, to not be "overly attached" (funny thing appearantly she's a hoarder now).

I also, obstinately, selfishly, or just meanness and pettiness, or spite, don't enjoy the idea of someone advancing on behalf of my mistakes.

Kinda thinking about burning my :cuss. All of it, paint, brushes, the terrain I've made, foam board, tackleboxs, everything.

Maybe chuck my Legos in there too. One thing I learned after my Mom died, was that you tend to collect a lot of unnecessary :cuss in your life, and somebody would have to go through it all.

I could get rid of 3 nightstand type things too.

I've had some good times, and some bad times, but maybe it's time for me to move on and wash my hands of this. I cancelled my Xbox live subscription after Bungie kept :cussing up making the same mistakes and games kept putting the gambling boxes in them.

I haven't turned my Xbox on in a month, watching Netflix on my TV instead.

I just...have never had the connection with the hobby that any of you guys have had. I really never should have picked it up, I could be a couple thousand dollars nearer to being debt free.

My suggestion, dont destroy anything.

Put it aside in boxes for a bit, and think about it. come back to it in 2-3 months and decide. If you want to sell off your stuff and move on great, but dont destroy anything. You could always talk with your local FLG/GW manager and maybe set up a box of stuff for a less fortunate family that has a child that might want to join the hobby and bring joy to others.

I personally only play 40k once a year. even when I had/have time to play it I don't, I enjoy the modeling and painting more. and If I get to play great, but most of the clubs around me I've always disliked the atmosphere most of the players bring.

Also if you ever need to talk or vent about anything feel free to DM me and I'll talk with ya.

Hobbies and interests Eb and flow in all people. Take a break, pack the stuff up and relax.

Triszin speaks well. I'd heartily recommend against destruction of your property when someone else can use it whether donated or sold.

I gave up all my 40K Wolves during 5th Ed and I donated it all to some young bloods at the local store as I couldn't be bothered trying to sell it all off. So many infantry and Land Raiders haha.

It brought a smile to my soul that I've had ever since that those lads had some new toys to paint up and play with.

I'd also recommend not destroying your armies as well. I got rid of all of mine and still have regrets about it.

If you're looking to improve yourself, have you considered finding a therapist? I know the general perception of therapy is that it is for the weak and broken even though even though it's actually like getting maintenance for your mind. In my area people like doctors are required to see a therapist, for instance. It's a worthwhile thing to consider.

Maybe we need a reality check.

1. All this stuff is just rumor.

2. The guy who brought up the rumor, seems to be respected and he's excited enough about what he saw to change which army he's taking to a tournament.

3. You have absolutely no idea what GW has dune until you see the codex.

One of the great things about the Tau is that they can add a new piece of hardware and suddenly things that weren't doing so well can now be usable. Example, what if they allow the targeter or whatever it's called to bump BS by +1? Would that change anything? What if it could stack allowing you to trade firepower for accuracy.

GW has done a pretty good job of addressing issues and giving their customers things to look forward to. Why is it when <change> shows up, everybody freaks out and assumes the worst?

Probably in around two weeks we'll start hearing some decent leaks. In another week after that, the codex can be in your hands.

The world is not going to end.

The reason why I don't see something like a +1 to-hit support system coming is because it's basically a no-brain auto include unless it's heavily overcosted. I wouldn't complain tho. :P

I'm wondering what Septs we'll get.

T'au, Vior'la and FSE are save to say due existing characters keywords. Bor'kan got mentioned by Haechi iirc and I'd say Sa'Cea is a very save bet as well. Leaves one more (the GW article talks about FSE + 5 others).

I'd personally love to see N'Dras since it's the origin of the Ghostkeel and has pretty interesting fluff compared to the other Septs. However unlike others I can't seem to convince myself about any T'au Sept getting a -1 to-hit trait since that'd mean Stealth Suits are -2 to-hit, Stealth Drones as well -2 and the Ghostkeel if the Stealth Drones are nearby a -3 to-hit. That seems extremely broken against any kind of shooty army (which are most).

They did do a Targetting System support system at one point but then removed it. Apparently GW didn't like the boost to BS back then so I am not expecting it now.

Ninjaed, damn phone calls from parents.
