Genestealer cults in Necromunda?

This has probably been talked about somewhere else in the forums but I just saw this in the WC:



I nearly lost it, I've been eyeing the GSC models for a week wondering whether to buy some or not to either use as Chaos Cultists or even start my own GSC force, although I've heard they're not very good in 8th right now. But this just made me even more curious since I was also wondering if I should get into Necromunda.

I'm still not familiar with the model range, though, so which ones do you think would be the most likely to be compatible with Necromunda?

I have a bunch of GSC stuff. I love the idea, hell I even have some of the original models.

 

That being said, whenever I see some love come via WD I have to say it concerns me. Why not inclusion in a gang war book? I'm always concerned they're going to kill support for an army when they only appear in WD!

 

The only thing that makes me feel a little more confident is the fact that gangs are being released soooo slowly that maybe they just wanted to give players some options. I'm ok with that.

 

I'll be picking up the WD anyway, so this is a bonus.

So, the rules to play GSC in Necromunda would then be laid out in the upcoming issue of WD? I guess I'll have to pick it up then.

 

Hopefully this is just a quick way to let GSC into Necromunda and they'll get a proper book in the future. Maybe when the Codex for 40k comes out?

I would not be surprised to see them added in an upcoming Gang War supplement, or barring that in an Almanac next year - if Blood Bowl is anything to go on.
As for support?  I don't know how much more support they need - all the models are already available (but it would be nice if they'd sell Aberrants outside of Overkill!) so it's not like you're missing anything needed to play them, or that somehow they'd be ruled out later. (Though tactics cards would be welcome, and dice wouldn't be too bad either)

 

GSC is perfect for Underhive games like this and SWA.  My Cult is probably going to have as much mining equipment as possible - it may not be as effective as heavy stubbers, shotguns and flamers but I like the idea of a bunch of infiltrators who stole their gear from work before the uprising.

Really great idea, thanks for posting. I always thought the genestealers had some neat looking models, this may be an excuse to pick up a box. Lots of good conversion opportunities too, extra pieces could probably go towards a "mutant" gang too.

Back when Necromunda was just a rumor and people were bandying about the idea of Necromunda gangs in Shadow War, I nearly bought myself a box each of Neophytes and Acolytes.  I was thinking of using the mining gear with something like Catachan command squads to make some Goliaths.  I'd imagine it would have been a challenge... but part of me still wants to use some of this gear with the new Goliaths.  I'd imagine rock cutters and picks and mining lasers would go well with the other repurposed industrial tools they already use.
