Deathwatch By A Different Color

Starting a deathwatch army, and wanted to go about it the different way ( mainly cause i dont like the concept of black armor and highlights and i havent gotten the technique of the bluish / black armor that i see good painters achieve .) So with some fluff to back it up I created another color scheme. Havent painted miniatures in years (i was 14 when i started this, 14 years away from it)  but figured i'll give it a go, after discovering a few interesting techniques.

So basically this Deathwatch company serves under a specific Inquisitor, whom's inquisition is based on the possibility of Chaos infecting xeno races, the intel they might have on chaos, and further investigation of the potential threat they might cause on the Imperium. More fluff to come. Due to these expeditions, the Inquisitor needed a dedicated company to serve under him. So the inquisitor was granted a company of black shields with no ties to any chapter. Their sole purpose is to serve under him through their watch master.

Thats the gist of it, more detailed fluff to come later.

I like your out of box ideas there. I might have to steal that and build a “Greyshields” Deathwatch Kill Team to work with Inquisitor Dracos.

*thumbs up*

Working on my librarian, wanted to go against the grain on the blue. Wanted to go silver, but I didn't have a decent metallic that would go on properly. So went with a sky grey. I have about a couple hrs to go working on him, smoothing out, working on his face and such. Hope you enjoy.

Having a hard time painting the face with the acrylics i had, bought some more paint, hopefully it goes on smoothly. Smoothed out the armor, highlighted the cape and cloth areas. brushed up on the metals. but have to check in the daylight (that ambient light deceives all ). Also attempting glowing eyes, wish me luck tonight. :)

Librarian almost done, just a few more hrs left to do the flames, blade, and cleanup things I missed etc. Had the hardest time on the face. For my first face with glowing eyes, I need more practice, but I'm satisfied tabletop wise. Hope you enjoy.

Finally finished my Librarian, with the flames, blade and edge highlighting (that you really can't see due to this desk lamp) wanted to do more with the blade, but figured to keep it basic.

After a night of kitbashin I've come to a stopping point with the close combat squad.

And I don't know what to do with this guy yet. Maybe a storm shield and boltgun, or keep it power axe and bolted. Btw somehow I'm gonna try to fit a combat shield on the sergeant's left arm.

Looking great! Where did your get those braziers bits from? They look awesome on your librarian.

*cough* Thousand Son Sorcerer *cough* :happy.:

I wonder, why shave breather thing from Chaos Champion plate? It's not like loyalists don't have these too?

bits for my watch captain came in for smaller games. My first magnetized work and I realized I love kitbashin more than painting. Currently working on my vet squad as well but I took a break to work on this guy.
