chosonofchaos
I'm just a bit confused on how space marine vehicles assigned to a battle company get numbered. Ive got Imperial fists and am going for complete codex compliance. My rhinos which are permanent within the company have their numbers, rhino 1, rhino 2 and so on but I'm not sure about vehicles from the armoury. I currently have 2 predators, a whirlwind and a vindicator so would these be numbered 1 - 4 or would it be predator 1, predator 2, whirlwind 1 and then vindicator 1? Also where would dreadnoughts come into this, would they be numbered in the company or out of all in the chapter? I have looked through a few codecies and the internet but cant seem to find any solid info about it. Any help or input would be appreciated. Grotsmasha
Typically, Predators and such are named, and numbered/marked according to which Company they are supporting. Okay but would they be numbered in groups according to which type of vehicle or out of all vehicles attached to the company. Grotsmasha
What I meant was, all Armory tanks attached to the second company would all bear the number 2, whilst they would be identifed with a unique name. Whereas Company Tanks, such as Rhino/Razors would bear their squad marking in addition to the company number and unique name. Cheers, Jono. What I was referring to was the vehicle identification number. From 8ed codex "Space marine battle tanks and dreadnoughts are assigned a unique identification number within the company" . So this would be additional to the squad and company numbers. Ipsen
Didn't think dreds had numbers. Just referred to by name unless the tech priest was itching to die for some reason or other Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346210-space-marine-vehicle-numbering/#findComment-5055487 Share on other sites
Beta galactosidase
Choson your first post is right. You get pred 1 pred 2 pred 3, whirlwind 1 etc. The unit number is on a circle in the company color. They don't have the company number anywhere, just a colored circle with the unit number on it. It seems a bit inadequate but that's how it is in the Ultras. Most squads and vehicles have at least one nickname but the unit number should always be there. Dreadnoughts are in specific companies and they have unit numbers too.
