Washes really dull the metallics. Give the edges a very gentle highlight with runefang or stormhost silver. I you have a really steady hand also line where the axe headchanges angle to become the blade with a very thin line of the same silver maybe?

Either that or a coat f satin varnish to give it some shine.

I particularly like the shading around his eyes.

I'm thinking that I might paint the axe to look like a woodcutting hatchet, so the flat area greyish black metallic and then brighter silver on the angled down part with a bluish hue maybe. I'm not too sure how it would look but I'll give it a go.

Erik looks great!

Thanks dude!

I really like that Erik. What strikes me most though is how well the white combines with space wolves grey!!

thanks man! I agree, the white really pops with the dark grey

Well done TrawlingCleaner you’ve made a great start to your Sons of Morkai.

Your Erik is great. I particularly like the weathered face.

Cheers Kraken, I figured even super soldiers get tired after weeks of fighting.

I've gotten most of The Bear done, some highlighting, tidyups and some more runes to do and I think I'm nearly there. C&C always welcome

The Bear looks promising. Will you add streaks of blood to that eviscerator? Will you decorate his base with a brutally bisected Ork Nob's remains?

Thanks dude! I think I'll be staying away from blood etc, I can never get it right and I tend to prefer clean models as if he's just teleported in and is running towards the enemy

This guy is looking really great. Such a good pick of model to use as a base. He's got a great pose. The massive chainsword looks brutal.

Thank you dude! I'm nearly there on painting him, I'm very slow at painting unfortunately.

Just a general question, I don't like TWC. They're way too wolfy so I'm thinking about converting something. I'm thinking of maybe using scimitar jetbikes with dark eldar venom/raider bits (bladevanes and hooked chains) with the TWC wolf head coming out of where the heavy weapons would be. I'd paint the heads brass or bronze to make them look like figureheads of a ship or something similar. C&C on that would be great

I don't like TW either so my solution is using three wolf kin of Russ to represent they are unleashed thunderwolves since they're bulkier than the normal plastic ones.

I think that would be a really interesting take on it. I would love to see how that comes out if you do

The Bear is done! Which finishes my 2nd vow, really like how he came out. C&C very welcome.

For my next vow I will be doing a count as Njal Stormcaller and an axe and shield Dread:

Love the use of the FW dread for this. It has so much character

Mark 2 Njal looks great too :tu:

Thanks man! It helps that the two headed wolf is on the sarcophagus, helps keep the morkai theme running.

I'm not too sure on the Njal head. I feel like his hair should be wild like a weird forest hermit guy, almost like Radaghast the brown. I'm also think of swapping out the backpack from Erik with the two headed wolf one. And then giving the two headed Raven one to Njal and maybe putting on the Cyber Raven from the White Scars deathwatch guy. Not too sure how that would look

Changed the head on Njal and added a Raven to him, I think he's looking a lot better now I think

I also started in the Dreadnought and made a lot of progress on him,a suprise to be sure but a welcome one. C&C welcome

Your rune Priest is looking great. Lovely pose and the cyber raven works a charm.

Thanks man! I thought it would make him too busy but thankfully it didn't

I love the wolves flanking the Dreadnought sarcophagus. The Venerable brother looks great!

Thank you my guy!

Ohhhh i really like that Njal!!!

Thanks dude, I think changing the head to one from the greyslayers, he kinda looks like he's mumbling under his breath

what is that spear from??

Looks Age of Sigmarry edit: i mean, the spear blade, looks stormcasty

I woud say the blade on the staff belonged to a chaos marine champion model (the one with the axe and knife)

It's actually from the spike racks on the back of a DE Talos. DE are really good for weird obscure parts

Just a quick bit of advice needed, for Long Fangs what should I be equiping them with? I feel like plasma cannons aren't particularly great whereas lascanons are way better. Am I missing something?

Made some progress with Njal, C&C very welcome

For long fangs I've been liking missiles and lascannons. I know they are the priciest option but the versatility of the missiles is hard for me to pass up and the lascannons are really killy.

Okay cool, I'll give that a go, I ordered most of  the options from forgeworld as I really like the underslung look

Yeah most of my recent lists have had one of each of those. Side bite I did outflank the plasma cannons once just to see. Turns out they were not half bad in the alpha strike role. Of course with the nerf to alpha strike that is less effective now but possibly still useful. Some here advocate mixed squads to spread the options and bubble wrap them a bit but that's never been my style personally.
