Inquisition Models for Acolytes Idea

Recommended Posts

So how fluffy would it be to have a group of Inquisition Acolyte models from all the various Imperial Guard regiments, and Necromunda model ranges, etc? So for example a 6 man group of Acolyte models includes: 1 Cadian, 1 Catachan, 1 Van Saar, 1 Escher, 1 Tallaran, and 1 Steel legion. I like the idea just not sure how fluffy it would be if Inquisitors let their Acolytes wear their old gear or not.

It is not beyond impossible. Every inquisitor is unique, and if you want yours to have a bodyguard of ex Guardsmen that he's .... acquired, it's well within an Inquisitors remit to claim any asset he see's fit.

The word of the day for that kind of mix would be "personality". It's totally something that could happen, but you'll want each model to look like a unique person rather than just mixed guardsmen (really easy to accomplish with that many plastic kits in play!). Make it really look like a grouping of specialists:)

I second what Kinstryfe said.

I think it’s fluffy for an inquisitor who has made use of the services of a wide variety of guard regiments and taken into his retinue the best from each. But the more personalized the better.

There are plenty of examples of ex-Guard entering the employ of Inquisitors. In the original Inquisitor game rulebook (the 54 mm game), there was, from memory, an ex-Catachan called Sgt Stone who was recognisably still in Catachan uniform but who’d picked up a variety of non-standard equipment (including a halberd). So, I second the advice to try to personalise the models: they may well still be wearing their Guard uniforms, but shouldn’t look like they’ve just come from their regiment’s founding parade. That should help create the feel of an Inquisitor’s Warband rather than a random selection of models. The other thing to consider is the paint scheme. While I think you’d want to individualise the models for the different uniforms, it’d help the appearance of cohesion if there is a way to tie them together. A common basing scheme might do it, but employing, e.g., the main uniform colour on one model as a spot colour on another could work. Similarly, using a limited number of neutral colours across the squad (i.e. if you’re painting parts brown on different models, use the same brown) could be effective.
