Montford
You may remember I picked up Craftworld many months ago as a new army (I primarily play Sisters of Battle). Last Saturday I had a truly astonishing experience which has left me profoundly impressed with the Eldar; it was only my fourth (I think) game with this army. I went to my FLGS Saturday morning with my Craftworld and took my painting gear as I was just planning on a day of painting and hanging out. Jason, one of our Ork players, arrived but his scheduled opponent had called and was going to be 4 hours late. He asked if I could give him a game, and I told him I didn't have a list ready. He said he didn't mind so he waited as I put together a 1750 point list using everything I had with me. The list in no way seemed competitive, but I have fun just playing games with good opponents, and Jason is a good fellow to game with. We played just a straight up match with no objectives. I had no tanks as I wasn't going to work on them that day and had left them at home. I put together a Battalion with what I had with me: 20 basic Dire Avengers, the Avatar, Autarch on Jetbike, 5 Wraithguard, 2 Wraithlords, a War walker squadron of 3 walkers, a Windrider squadron of 3 jetbikes, a pair of Bonesingers and a Hemlock Wraithfighter. That was everything I had on hand except for a farseer. I lost my Autarch, a Wraithlord, one War Walker, three Dire Avengers, three Wraithguard, and one Windrider. He lost 80 basic orks, a rokkit squad, two big cannons, a Weird Boy, something else I can't remember what he called it, his Trukk and its squad of burly orks with chain axes, a flyer, a banner and a pain boy. All he had left were his boss, another leader/ elite type, and about 10 orks. I was surprised by how well this ad-hoc army performed. Yes I did get to go first, and that is a definite advantage, but I put nothing in the webway as I was just keeping it simple. I don't yet own any dark reapers, my Rangers are still on order, and as I said my tanks were not present. Oh, and my Wraithguard, with one admittedly lucky volley, are the ones that shot down his flyer! To have kind of a result with an ad-hoc list was a little astonishing. I really, really like the Craftworlds. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346975-craftworlds-are-truly-astonishing/ Share on other sites
