Greetings brethren,

I return to these hallowed halls once more, this time with painted models and the intention to paint many more.

Here's a picture of the first three completed (i.e. assembled, painted, based, and varnished) models to start things off, with more to come soon:

Thank you for looking!

Greetings Chaplain! It's nice of you to start your WIP/Crusade thread. You have some neat Marines - I commend your precision. The highlights look very crisp and overall, the colour scheme is in to eyes extremely well-executed. I like the tabard with the small free-hand cross on it.

  • 4 weeks later...

I've had to deal with some hobby burnout these past few weeks. To try and remedy this, I'll be taking this project nice and slow: one unit per month, and I can only paint a second unit once the first is table-ready (i.e. assembled, painted, based, and varnished).

For August I'll be starting with the first model of my Anara Crusade: Honoured Brother Hafdan Ilikov, entombed within a Dreadnought chassis. In game/model terms, this will be a Venerable Dreadnought with assault cannon and Dreadnought close-combat weapon with underslung storm bolter. Pics up as soon as I have something to show other than a black undercoat. ;)

Thanks for looking! :tu:

Bjorn: Good question. I hadn't really thought of where it came from/what its previous use was but I like your idea so I'll roll with that. :)

Honoured Brother Hafdan Ilikov is now finished! Just need to wait for the humidity levels to go down before I spray varnish him.

Thanks for having a look.

I've had quite a few people comment on the pose. I'm glad it's as evocative as I wanted it to be.

Chaplain Euthymios Wragge is now fully painted and based, and waiting for the final coat of varnish.

I was worried about how the bone would turn out but I'm happy with the result. :) Now to decide what to do next...

Thanks for having a look. :tu:

Cheers, Bjorn!

I'm in Nottingham/at Warhammer World for the next three days so I'll be looking at getting as many games in as I can with my Black Templars. Here's the list I'll be using:

+++ 40k: Black Templars (Warhammer 40,000 8th Edition) [37 PL, 499pts] +++

++ Patrol Detachment (Imperium - Space Marines) ++

+ HQ +

Chaplain: Bolt pistol

+ Troops +

Crusader Squad: 7x Initiate w/Chainsword

+ Elites +

Venerable Dreadnought: Assault cannon

. . Dreadnought combat weapon w/Storm Bolter: Storm bolter

+ Fast Attack +

Assault Squad: Jump Pack

. . 3x Space Marine

. . Space Marine Sergeant: 2x Chainsword

. . Space Marine w/Special Weapon

. . . . Plasma Pistol & Chainsword: Plasma pistol

. . Space Marine w/Special Weapon

. . . . Plasma Pistol & Chainsword: Plasma pistol

+ Dedicated Transport +

Rhino: Storm bolter

Created with BattleScribe

I've gone with a mostly choppy list to see how well I can do with it at this level of points. I'll be up against other power armour armies, both traitor and loyalist.

With some decent tactics and good luck with dice rolls, I should be fine. ;)

Thank you for having a look! :tu:
