HH Series ending soon. Siege will be another series

i hope Aximand doesn't lower the shields. That's been a popular fan theory since the series started, but doesn't make much sense after the way Abnett skillfully developed his character in Little Horus.

I hope Aximand is not Drecarth the Sightless

Something tells me that Drecarth is a Horus Heresy veteran like Abaddon?

As discussed elsewhere, "Heresy vet" covers a range of statuses.

Re: the Scouring, I'd rather Tales From than a narrative of the conflict.

The gate between daemon-flooded webway and throne room is being kept shut by the Emp...so I don't think it would make sense to have Valdor and a bunch of custodes just standing around there while Traitor legions penetrate into the inner Palace

I think when Malcador and the Emp switch places, there would be a temporary breach and perhaps daemons get through and Vulkan handles them

The Custodians might be best conserved until the Traitors are piling into confined spaces beyond the Eternity Gate.

People fall prey to resulting here because everyone knows that Sanguinius holds the Gate. The Loyalists don't know that.

ADB is probably writing his Siege novel now because he doth write slowly. But it’s ok. He’s rather good in my opinion. I wonder how much of my £9.99 actually goes to him?! Probably bugger all knowing evil corporate machinations!

I'm not on my Siege novel for a while yet, nope.

But, but, rumours on social media are that you’re writing your next novel and I’m sure in the past it’s been said it takes you a year or two to put one together.

Plus you’ve already done your mandatory “post GS novel” that I imagine many authors have done/will be doing.

So by my humongous logic if you’re not doing that or Siege then you must be writing the next Abaddon novel

My current novel choice came down to the sequel to Spear of the Emperor or Nameless Black Legion Novel #3. I went with one of them to balance out the 50-50 Chaos/Loyalist ratio that I like to try and hold, with the factor that I know the next few years of my schedule, so I know what's coming down the pipe.

What would it take for you to reveal your schedule for the next few years?

Who needs to be offered, partially or whole?

Really interesting to hear a range of perspectives on the ‘end’ of the series and what then comes next. I’ve loved the Heresy as a sandbox, and would be more than happy to have it all continue under that banner for countless more novels and works (including the Siege potentially) - I would hope they’d keep coming back to it in some capacity, and to potentially round off at a juncture (say 100...). But, as others have said, it would work well in a Primarchs format too (or Beast Arises), so keen to see what happens!
I wonder if Guilliman and the XIII’ths early feats during the Heresy (it used to be stated that The Ultranarines’s only mentionable contribution was destroying a large chaos fleet goof to reenforce the Warmaster and that Guilliman had claimed the Gauntlets of Ultramar from a fell chaos champion) will ever be touched upon.
I hope so. I'd like it to be rather in-depth but then after his Primarch book I dunno. That book missed out on a lot of potential and the whole heresy series didn't even describe the reason he became the Avenging Son.

@ Scribe

The conflict at the Spaceport was between WS and a main force of DG with some other legion support, yes? I forget whether it was exclusively WS vs. DG. Either way, it'll be good.

"Emperor's Children vs Civ's"

Ouch

It was WS + Imperial Army 1st Tank Regiment vs. DG, I think.

The Custodians might be best conserved until the Traitors are piling into confined spaces beyond the Eternity Gate.

People fall prey to resulting here because everyone knows that Sanguinius holds the Gate. The Loyalists don't know that.

Valdor destroys a Traitor Emperor Titan only to be killed by the Dies Irae

Good idea?

Leman Russ and Valdor would make adorable life-partners.

"Leman, did you leave the toilet seat up again?"

"For the last time, you know damn well I pee on the tree in the back yard! It's that StarChild kid you keep having visit!"

Thinking about some other siege wishlist stuff...i hope we get a chaotically revived Ferrus head as an absurdist foil character for Horus to engage with in lengthy philosophical discussions about the nature of brotherhood, rebellion, chaos etc...

Faced with new and severe weaknesses of the flesh, Ferrus is forced to change the whole brute force approach he once thought inviolable as he seeks to find weakness within the Warmaster.:biggrin.:

Chris Wraight did an interview for WHC, which had some tidbits:

Q: Given everything you have done over Jaghatai Khan: Warhawk of Chogoris, Scars and The Path of Heaven, what are the chances that we’ll we see Jaghatai Khan take on the ascended Mortarion during the Siege of Terra?

A: Well, the narrative for the Siege of Terra is still very much in flux. We’ve had some meetings about what the key events will be, and we’re due to have some more, so nothing is set in stone yet. As you’d imagine, a lot of the hard work has been choreographing the many primarchs that will be present, and although we’ve had some awesome ideas for arcs involving both the Traitor and Loyalist guys, we’ve still got some work to do to get everything lined up. In short, don’t assume anything about anybody!

Q: What does the future hold for you and the White Scars and/or the Space Wolves in the Horus Heresy – and beyond it?

A: We’ll see the White Scars at the Siege, of course, which will be the conclusion of their long arc throughout the series.  I’m really looking forward to being around for their send-off. At present, the intention is that that will be the end for them and me – I don’t have any plans to continue their story beyond the climax at the Palace.

No doubt there will be many White Scars stories to come, both in the Scouring and beyond, but I do like the idea of writing a complete narrative, with a beginning, middle and end, before the baton is passed on to someone else. In Warhammer 40,000, of course, we already have Robbie MacNiven’s brilliant White Scars stories, so I don’t think fans will be short of material. In terms of the Space Wolves, given my schedule, I’m not sure that I’ll be doing any more with them either, although I do have the long-postponed third book in my Warhammer 40,000 trilogy to attend to. So basically, they're still planning the Siege in terms of arcs and have little set in stone. As a result, I think the thing really won't start before the holidays in 2019.

A thought just occurred to me.

What business likes to re-use concepts, models, themes, etc... across platforms (aka Chaos gods being similar in both AoS and 40k)?

GW.

What was just released by GW for a different platform?

Lord of the Rings: Battle of Pelannor Fields.

What if the HH follows a similar pattern, where Beta Gammon is being set up to be more Pelannor while the Siege itself ends up being more like the smaller, more desperate fight outside Mordor's black gates?

#wasupfor24hours  #haventhadmycoffeeyet #arethosespidersreal?

I suspect that Terra will only be smaller in terms of Titans and Ordinati Majoris. Maybe in manpower too, but people seem to forget that at least much of Sol will be fought over, and we'll have twelve Legions fighting on the surface. That concentration of power will be quite singular.

I'll go out on a limb DC and say that will prove to be too negative a prediction. I think we'll see 3 Siege novels next year.

We'll see. Hopefully info at the BL weekender.
