Burni
Here's a Warhound carapace using 6mm tape: Looking at your reference images, 6mm might indeed be too thick. I will also say that it takes quite a while to mask them up to meet at a point in the centre. Not sure if anyone else can suggest any tricks or tips on that. I used a very sharp scalpel and a strip of masking up the middle and then gently cut through the angled tape along the centre line. Was afraid of marking the plastic though. Its not been an issue on the Warlord or Reaver as the lines didn't meet at a point - there was also something in the way, so didn't need to. Looking forward to seeing how you do it as if it's anything like your Warlord, it's going to be stunning. Bryan Blaire
The 6mm does look like it's going to be too thick for the Warhound armor pieces, but Tamiya does make some good 2mm and 3mm masking tapes, if you can get your hands on them. I got them in a three pack with some 5mm tape for racing stripes and curves on vehicle models. Captain Semper
Bryan has a valid point - the stripes on the thigh and leg armour are considerably narrower. This definitely calls for narrower masking tape. Interestingly, and upon closer inspection of Oedium Aeternium, the stripes on its carapace do not seem be of equal width - with the green ones considerably wider than the white ones. This could be possibly achieved with the 6mm tape, although having narrower tape would make me sleep better at night (again, don’t ask). Achinadav
I got 2mm, 3mm, and 5mm tape to try uneven stripes. Plan is one half of the carapace the usual armour colour and the other half striped. Thin white ones and wider blue/green ones. I think it'll look pretty neat. With tape and carapace in hand, 2mm/5mm looks like it'll work OK. I haven't used masking like this before, so I'm a bit nervous...Lining up the tape to leave 2mm of white is probably going to give me nightmares. Or at least cold sweats. Looks like you've sorted the mega bolter, but if something goes awry I'm only planning on using 3. You're welcome to the other. Looking forward to seeing how your 'hounds come out. Captain Semper
Thx mate! I’m really hyped now, can’t wait for those Warhounds to arrive! Achinadav
The 'hounds are lovely. I can see where the love of the warlord and reaver kits is coming from. Watch out for the void shield nodes; they're tiny! The legs look very skinny without armour panels, like they've been in the bath. Its kind of adorable. For a robot killing machine. Yeah, the nodes are tricky to clean the sprue connection points on as they are so small. In fact I noticed on some reference images of Warhounds shown at WarFest Europe that they hadn't been put on! I guess someone had missed them on the sprue due to size. Funny though as they were GW's own example models... Grimoire
Since you asked :) Concerning diagonal striping. I'd look into decals for those first because frankly taping that would be onerous at best. So 6mm = .23 inches Plenty of decal stripes are available from Microscale and you could even use certain decals meant for the noses of certain locomotives. If however I were forced to tape the masking I'd spray gloss coat over the masking before applying the color to prevent paint creep at the edges. Parweke, Burni, Cpt. Captain Idaho
Hmm you've done better with the legs than me. I'll have to see if I can safely remove one of the Warhounds legs and repose them. I genuinely didn't even think I could just swap the feet around as they're not specially left and right. Duh. Ah fudge. I just remembered I already stuck them to bases too. Captain Semper
Hahaha, it happens. It lets you hold things in place to dry fit and I use it to mask contact points on my titans for painting before assembly. It's also good to test poses and can even help hold a fiddly sword straight while gluing a small contact point. Captain Semper
As a matter of fact, I'm trying to reconstruct the Maniple in the main Rule Book (p.61). Brother Dallo
Looking good Semper. I've currently got a warlord and two hounds in the post. I'm also planning to paint them as Krytos, though am planning on doing tan instead of pure white. Is here much in the main book for Krytos apart from the images you've shared? I'm trying to paint at least one Titan before I spend more money on AT. I haven't got the book yet and was wondering if it's worth the money for the painting elements alone? Keep up the good work. Captain Semper
Hey, another Krytos Princeps! Welcome to the God Breakers man, I sure look forward for your work. :) As regards background for the Legio, well that’s scarce. In the main book it only has a small paragraph and the pictures I attached as an example of a Venator Light Maniple. I don’t have the book with me right now (am at work) but I can give you a bit more colour later today. Suffice to say, they are Traitors! Edit: also when it comes to decals, you must leave some space for the Krytos-specific ones as they are not yet available (and there is no promise they will ever be - but we can always hope). :) Brother Dallo 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/350330-captain-sempers-adeptus-titanicus-project/page/5/#findComment-5177713 Share on other sites

Captain Semper
Here it is: Legio Krytos, or to use the common name, the God Breakers, are an Order of brutal and taciturn killers. Throughout the later Great Crusade, the Legio distinguished itself in a hundred and more campaigns of total destruction, their dictum being that when assaulting the works of the enemy, no stone should be left standing upon another. The God Breakers specialise in in heavy assault missions, utilising a mixture of devastating ranged weaponry which they use to shatter enemy defences, and melee weapons which they use to crush what little remains in brutal close-in combat. And there you have it!
