little hope in CA for GK's

Is there a way to access past episodes of Warhammer TV? It would be good to be able to link to the episode where Robin Cruddace said GKs would get a good bit of attention in Chapter Approved if it comes out and we’ve been ignored again.

I'm expecting point reductions. Doesn't fix the lack of fluff to rules or make the army feel unique, but might make them playable. Still, the army is boring. It didn't have much flavour to begin with, but just lost what it had via indirect nerfs. Point reductions further increase this.

For example, what are the key things GK should be designed around? For me, there are five key points: Mid to Close ranged focus/All psykers/Anti-demon/Elite army/Alpha strike, and GW failed to deliver on every single one or nerfed them.

I predict "CT works on everything", minor rule changes for most useless units and massive point drops for SM in general. SM and CSM will get some love, probably, at least the posterboys. I don't belive that subfactions will get anything good. They put the whole SoB codex in there, a bunch of narrative rules, and, of course, there will be new missions for narrative/matched play.

It will be a miracle, if GK will become playable after CA.

My second army is FSE...preferably with The Eight...so Im already cautiously optimistic that I can actually PLAY The Eight, in a normal 2k matched play game.

That along with possible improvements to my main GKs army....it could be a happy year ending for my two favourite armies!

Bah. This video highlights topics that are 'new' to the game, in order to build demand. This does not discuss improvements to the existing game at all.

Just because the focus is on something else, that doesn't mean anything about GK / SM / CSM, good or bad. Was anyone expecting GW to advertise the fact the early Codexes are obsolete?

I'm still expecting PAGK to get T6 / 2+++ save, S8 12 shot stormbolters and nega-smite (which automatically does d6 MW to all enemy models in 172 inches.) Everything is happening according to plan...

Exactly. Last CA had open play Land Raider rules, which were like 8 pages. I imagine the new looted vehicles will be the same. Then there was 12 pages of faction rules, and considering the sisters index was only 9 pages, that'll be a pretty decent equivalent. I doubt we'll see quite as much narrative and open play components as last year, and I don't think we'll see the objective marker hobby section again. There's still plenty of room in a 130 page book to do a lot, and nothing says it needs to stay at that page count either.

Not sure if this has been posted somewhere already, or whether it is proper information or not, but from dakka dakka:

First leaks from French Wargame Studio, the guy is pretty much always spot on when he reveals things (since he gets it directly from GW) so you can probably take the following for granted:

- Land Speeder to 50 points.
- Chapter Approved for the 15 of December (approximately)
-Crisis suits a little over 30 pts
- Not much nerfs and mostly ups.
- Named characters cost a lot less, to the point that they may become auto-includes. Castellan Crow is now 80 points and Trajann droped by 75 pts for example.
- Codex SoB release for oct/nov 2019
- Farsight to 125pts
- Eldrad is 15 points cheaper
- +3pts on shining spears
- +60/70 pts for the Necron super heavy (more than likely the Tesseract Vault)
- No change for Abaddon
- Chos cultists to 5pts
- Deathwatch (and more generally all space marines) droped by 5-10%
- Draigo << 200pts
- Intercessor had a very small points drop.
-Warden Custodes' cost is now closer to their troops, the terminators also got a reduction.
- Almost no nerfs for the IK (nothing on the small ones, a bit on the big ones).

As always, first section to check is the News&Rumours section. ;)

so it's about as much as I expected points drop and that's about it. so far of course and salt with rumors as always

going by this rumor Draigo going down in points is kind of big and the generally pt reduction for all power armor will have minimal effect on us really. Crow is still not worth it even at the massive points drop. Also depending on the cost of terminators that about where we could possibly close the gap between taking terminators over strike squads. But that comes down to points efficiency. Otherwise the only other thing that can help us is reduction of pt cost of our special weapons.

If we go max 10% based on this rumor and rounding up always

Interceptor 3 ppm saved 15 pts on a 5 man squad

Purgation 2 ppm saved 10 pts on a 5 man squad

Purifier 3 ppm saved 15 pts on a 5 man squad

Strike 2 ppm saved 10 pts on a 5 man squad

so say in a battalion of GK's with 3 units of strikes that's 30 pts saved on strikes alone.

Below was what was pinging around in a grey knight fb group, link included but is in French so I've no idea what it's saying;

Chapter approved 2018 rumors (http://www.warhammer-forum.com/index.php?/topic/264558-chapter-approved-2018/& - its in french, cant find the english translation)

- Draigo down to 200 pts

- Crowe down to 80 pts

- Rites of Banishment is getting removed or changed, seems GK are getting the regular Smite power

- generally all of the space marine range is down by 5-10%

- not GK but armies with -1 to hit are getting changed to +1 cover save

If GK's get regular smite that's going to be a huge buff! that could be a game changer however I would expect us to follow the repeat smite nerf (IE mult smite increase in difficulty)

This is sure. We'll have a new chapter tactics. I'm curious about it.

If it is accurate and Draigo is going to less than 200 points, that would HAVE to filter down through the Codex. If he is, let's say, 190 then Grand Masters can't still be 160. If Grand Masters go down, Brother Captains must go down, and so on. I don't think Strikes will drop but surely Terminators, Paladins, Land Raiders must also be in line for some drops (BIG drop in the case of the Land Raiders)?

I'll believe it when I see it but here's hoping.

Copied my post from the N&R topic.

If they don't, then why would anyone choose a standard Grand Master over Draigo? He hits better (assuming the GM has taken a hammer, because why wouldn't he?), has better AP, has a better invulnerable save, a better aura, another aura on top of that, knows more powers, can deny more and has an extra wound. If he is 190, like I suggested, why would you take a standard GM with hammer for only 15 points less?

Crowe will still never be used loool

Eh... At 80pts he's not bad. He's a cheap character who has 5 attacks hitting on 2's, wounding Gaurds on 3s, rerolling everything, and all successful wounds proc another attack... With morale losses, stormbolter and psychic, it wouldn't be unheard of him to kill a guard squad (40+ pts) in one turn.

He might not be the best choice, but it's free you up points from elsewhere, and is now cheap enough to hunt the loyal 32 or other backfield objective holders.

The problem Crowe has is that literally every other unit in the GK Codex already does his job thanks to Stormbolter. And more reliable due being ranged instead of having to get into melee as well even.

The job crowe will do, is fill up the HQ slot cheap and easily, while still being able to contribute to crowd control, and having a d6 smite.

I don't think there's anyone else who would do as well there for as cheap.
