Japan Space Marine Heroes Series 1

Some information that might be useful for potential buyers :

The drop chance listed on the display box definitely needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

Example of box split : 3x Titus, 3x Castor, 2x Gaiun, 2x Garus, 1x Vanial, 1x Remus.

Multiple boxes yielded no Promethor, Sevastus or Thassarius.

Furthermore, there is a way of determining the contents of each individual box. Please note

however that this works both ways : as it allows a buyer to cherry-pick, it also allows (Internet)

sellers to do the same.

Each box has an identification code on the right hand side just above the Series 1 logo.

NG1 - 18256 : Brother Titus

NG1 - 18261 : Brother Castor

NG1 - 18254 : Brother Vanial

NG1 - 18257 : Brother Gaiun

NG1 - 18260 : Brother Garus

NG1 - 18255 : Brother Remus

Extrapolating from above, the remaining models (Promethor, Sevastus & Thassarius) would have

codes 258, 259 and either 253 or 262.

Happy hunting,

Old-Four-Arms

I'm not sure about the numbers

Just came back from the store after buying 10

1 Sergeant Sevastus

1 Remus (missile)

1 Vanial (grenade)

1 Garus (bolt+bolter)

2x Castor

2x Gaiun

2x Titus

So,as you can see i don't have anything more than twice. But the codes on my boxes are (sadly can't say which is which because after opening them all at the store i placed them back in at random)

3x 18248

2x 18249

1x 18250

3x 18253

1x 18254

so things don't really match up (btw,it was a GW store and the GW-guy opened the big box of weekly deliveries right in front of me,so nothing shady should have happened)

Edit:oh wait,i had left the build instruction in their original boxes thinking it was the same for all,but instead they are model specific,so i can go back and link codes to model

I had:

Vanial on code 18254

Both Gaiun on 18249

Sevastus on 18253

Both Castor on 18253 too

Remus on 18250

Garus on 18248

Both Titus on 18248 too

This here in Italy, might be that they change the codes based on regions...Strange as it seems

Greetings frater,

My initial findings were based on three full boxes where the codes matched with the contents.

Today, I bought a single Hero in another shop and ended up with Brother Garus, NG1 - 18248.

That led me to think that there are at least two sets of codes out there.

Your findings however seem to indicate that the same code is used for different models (Sevastus/Castor

& Garus/Titus).

Can any other frater check if the code theory still holds up or not ?

EDIT : from similar thread on DakkaDakka :

"However, I have 2 boxes with 18256 and they contained different marines."

I recognize my failing and will be sure to correct it,

Old-Four-Arms

So I got a compete box of 12 from Element game and picked up 2 more from my local GW before the complete box was delivered.

The numbers on the side don't have an obvious correlation with content.

All the duplicates in the compete box had the same number, but this was different to the same model from my local GW.

Also there were only 5 different numbers in the entire complete box, but this contained all 9 different minis so some numbers can indicate different models.

The number might be linked to the production run?

GW store box

18250 Brother Promethor (plasma guy)

18253 Brother Castor (generic bolter guy)

Element games box

18255 Brother Vanial (Grenade guy)

18255 Brother Remus (Missile Launcher guy)

18256 Brother Titus (reloading guy)

18256 Brother Titus (reloading guy)

18256 Brother Promethor (plasma guy)

18256 Brother-Captain Thassarius (jackpot guy)

18257 Brother Gaiun (running bolter guy)

18257 Brother Gaiun (running bolter guy)

18260 Brother Garus (aiming bolt pistol guy)

18260 Brother Garus (aiming bolt pistol guy)

18261 Brother Castor (generic bolter guy)

18261 Brother-sergeant Sevastus

This seems to point to the codes actually being different at least by region + them masking at least some of the 4 "uncommon" ones under the common ones' codes

(Unless you live next door from EG,then everything blows up :tongue.: )

I'm about 40 miles from Element games, and still in the NW of the UK so close enough to count as the same region by UK standards.

Unless they are dividing GW stores up by region and then treating major 3rd party retailers like Element and Wayland as a different region to local GW stores to muddy the waters.

Well, I wasn't gonna get any, but I was in my FLGS and saw them there and thought "Well, that captain and sergeant are pretty cool.  And another plasma gun is always nice.  I'll just grab a couple."

Next thing I know I spent $20 on three bolter bros.

Well played, GW.  Well played.

I can't complain about that,i ended up having an almost functional tac squad, just missing the special weapon (that obviously was in one of the 2 i didnt buy from my box and ended up in the hands of the guy right after me),but i hope to be able to fix it with some work and one of my double "plain-guys"

For 33% more € than a normal tac (give or take) but...Details...:teehee:

So I just bought 6 packs at one store and 4 at another. They both had different but seemingly joining spreads of numbers, and I got the same mini in each box of the same number. The only constant was that different numbers from the same box always yeilded different minis. On the upside I netted 2 sgts and 2 plasma guns, but on the down I'm still missing the missile launcher and the grenade thrower. The Captain is a Chase, so I'm not counting on getting him at all :-D

18227 Brother Gaiun

18228 Brother Garus Bolter and Pistol x2

18220 18232 Brother Castor

18218 18233 Brother-Sergeant Sevastus

18219 18235 Brother Promethor Plasmagun

18225 Brother Titus Bolter

Edit: went back to test duplicate numbers. Got a 18227 from the second box, which was also Brother Gaiun, meaning his overlapped number was in both boxes. Hmm. Got goaded into testing it on the plasma number and got both the missile launcher and grenade thrower. So, that was weird. Got the full set minus the Captain though, so that's cool.

Edit edit: I've now assembled all 8, plus kitbashed 2 more together, and I have to say that these are the best push fit models I've ever seen. The molds are great, with only a couple pieces in the whole lot needing any mold cleaning beyond lightly running an exacto over it. They also take other Marine parts perfectly, with my Sgt getting a bolt pistol arm from the blood angels upgrade sprue and some of the Mk6 wearing models gaining proper beakie helmets. They look great and really show how dynamic monopose models can look compared to the old customizable method, with things like cables stretching along with the models' poses. They're really great looking and I'll definitely be looking at picking up series 2 and onward if they make their way stateside. The only downside imho is that they missed their chance to showcase some different armour marks, though part of that may be that the Mk4 flamer was moved to a different project. Overall 9/10, maybe more if they paint up as nicely as they look.

I picked up 4 boxes today. All different numbers and all different minis. But my numbers weren't any of the ones you guys have listed. They must be different by regions or something. I'm in Georgia, USA. I got them from the local GW store.

18194 - Titus

18197 - Garus

18200 - Castor

18206 - Vanial

Unfortunately, just bolter guys from em. I at least need the Sgt so I can have an extra tac squad, even if it doesn't have a special/heavy weapon.

Bluejay, as your in the USA you might want to get the Labyrinth of the Necrons box from Barnes and Noble.

It includes the sgt from this set plus 4 marines not in this release. Including a hvy bolter and flamer.

Then one or two ore of these boxes to complete the squad.

That's where you get that thing? How much is it?

$40, if they shipped to the UK I'd grab it.

It's also available from Mueller in Germany for €35, but they don't ship to the UK ether (at least i don't think they do, their website is in German which i have a less than basic command of)

For those in the US, I just ordered Labyrinth of the Necrons from the Barnes and Noble website and it offered me a code, STACKED for 10% off, bringing it to $36, or $1 more than buying 5 blind boxes, which seemed pretty reasonable, plus I get a new game out of it. Score.

I got the Space Marine Adventures - Labyrinth of the Necron box game today from the local(ish) Barnes & Noble.

It contains the Sergeant Sevastus (named Sergeant Cassius in here) kit from the Space Marine Heroes boxes, along with 4 other marines not in the Heroes boxes, a flamer (in MARK IV ARMOUR), a running marine (slightly different from the one in the Heroes boxes), a marine with an auspex and a heavy bolter marine.

Additionally, even if you don't use the promo code STACKED on the Barnes & Noble website, if you're a member (ie: have their card), you get 10% off in-store purchases. So also bringing it to $36, or $1 more than buying 5 blind boxes.

I'm going to be fiddling with my five to make them into Deathwatch marines, and definitely swapping the Space Wolves' head out for something more.... Wolfy.

Edit:

Finished the conversions. My fingers hurt from having to use the xacto blade so much

Since it's what the thread is about, I really want to just say how awesome and dynamic these sculpts are. I got my first set painted with just a couple alterations, and picked up some extras to combine with LotN to make a second squad. The kitbash potential is amazing, and even the basic Bolter dudes are great sculpts.
