What are Thousand Sons hoping for from Chapter Approved?

I wouldnt necessarily think these are fake, its just enough of not actually doing something or rather doing in a way that doesnt make sense that is the hallmark of GW we all know and love.

Like cultists with a worse save, worse equipment options, a lack of orders etc are more pts than guardsman.

That primaris got a price drop but space marines didnt. Sounds like classic GW.

My spawn list just got a little bit juicier!

I have been using a minimum of 4 every game. That may go up, but for tonight's game I've calculated that I can take out a Sicaran Tank, and put in a Landraider without altering the rest of the list.

I will be gaining most of the points from a Maulerfiend, and the stuff I blow points on that most people don't take too often. A little sad about Tzaangors going to 8 points, but I have more than enough points to play with.

I'm curious if my own perception of Landraiders will change at the point change.

From the sheets I saw, the tzaangors did NOT go up in points. In fact no goat units at all were mentioned in CA unless I missed something.

My list freed up around 200 points, the drops for all the engines and walkers added up and I have 200 extra points to play with in my 2k list. Debating what to add.

Im definitely getting MVB to buff SOT and/ or Tzangoors. Running 2 offers good flexibility to buff both or toss out MW.

My fluffy or preferred list, outside a core of two 5-10 man rubrics and a 5-8 SOT w/ the standard HQs, include spawn, helbrutes and las preds and i plan on calculating my savings here shortly.

I am also heavily considering demon forges now with these reductions, the associated strats and what i hear from regular posters on this forum. Plus i really want to paint one.

Oh and I dont mind a free inferno bolt pistol for my exalted sorcerers if you know what I mean.

I was a bit surprised to see how much Spawn went down, I was planning on some at some point anyway but this might move them up the list... Daemon engines are a lot nicer now so this will really help a lot of people out which is great (plus they're a lot of fun to paint, so I can recommend them!) but I'm still a bit miffed about Scarab Occult not going down more

Back from a break, hey my duuuudes.

Love the changes in points.

I might run a 2nd unit of flamers in a rhino. Very happy to have been using 3 units of rubrics.

Bordering on withlisting here but it still silly to me that only termie sorcerers get familiar access. I know a familiar mini came with the termie lord pack though i dont really see the model used as a prerequisite.

The entire thing is stupid considering HQs can take warpflamer pistols and Aspiring Sorcerers can take Plasma Pistols, which are both minor conversions for those units.

You don't think 211 is fair? I think from my perspective (and in my Meta... TBF...) that 211 for the squad (full weapons with reaper/hellfyre) is a solid price point. Sold unit overall though the paying 7 points more for a terminator than the loyalist variant is.....questionable.  Though we have an inbuilt psyker with an actual spell the "all is dust" tax while great on Rubrics, is a total waste on Scarab Occult.

How is "all is dust" a waste on the scarab occult? +1 to invulnerable saves is nothing to sneeze at really.

It's a waste because you can't increase past a 2+ armor save and anything that will force an invulnerable save on a terminator is more than D1 and so "All is Dust" doesn't come into effect.

Not quite. Bolt rifle shot and regular strength plasma shots would be affected by all is dust, just to name a few. Whether your opponent will use those weapons on the SOT is a different question.

Additionally the rule allows the SOT to fire the Hellfyre Missile Launcher and the SRC without penalty after moving.

It's my opinion for all Terminators technically - they're not in the best of places especially for a supposed "elite of the elite" so as I didn't expect any rule changes I was hoping for more points "compensation". I was hoping for a couple more shaved off maybe (and the apparent difference between loyalist and Chaos is odd). I'm still going to use them, and would have done without any changes at all

If your opponent decides to use non-overcharged plasma on your SoT, you don't need the save bonus from dust to beat him, as he is obviously clueless.

If I bring SOT its usually in a 10 man squad and I protect that investment with things like glamour so I have to disagree on that.

Hey welcome back Arch...

I put together a standard 2000 pt and 1500 pt list last night and really did have a lot more flexibility with points.

I see the issue with All Is Dust being a partial benefit for SOTs allowing the carrying of heavy weapons with minimal effectiveness on saves. Cheaper costs all around allow me to add a couple more sots to beef this unit up. I usually have them escorting a warp timing Termie Sorcerer. Having them deploy or coordinate a deep strike within range to a MVB is something I am looking forward to playing with.

Well excepting the recent upcoming changes i have yet to face off against primaris. In fact im the only person i know that play them. And plasma i have never not been overcharged so the D2 negates the "All is Dust".

When i run or rather when i ran them as there just so many better units in the codex i did x5 with a term sorcerer and they were better than a distraction carnifex that couldnt hurt armor, and i just dont think distracion carnifexes are solid tactics. With the point changes im willing to try them again, but they just arent great being their main issue being terminators. An expensive MSU unit in an edition where hordes are king.

From a pragmatic perspective "All is Dust" is wonderful on Rubricae, and is a great rule IMHO

From the perspective of a Scarab Occult Terminator? It's *almost* useless on the table. The big benefit ignoring movement penalties for heavy weapons which is good.

A d2 weapon firing at a 1 wound model is a win as its usually ignoring something it can deal more damage to, but D2 weapons are fired at Terminators anyway so it is usually a wasted rule. I can count on 1 hand in 8th edition how many times I can remember a D1 weapon with actual AP values being fired into Terminators.... very rarely.

I will always prefer Rubrics to Scarab Occult because I love spamming them in my lists, but Scarabs may find a place soon given their substantial drop in points, but then we run smack into the issue of variety..... Scarabs and Rubrics fall into very similar battlefield rolls having almost identical guns, load outs, and now even costs (194 = 10 rubrics with reaper, 5 man Scarab Occult with hellfire is 204) fall into a very similar range.

I really see their tactics play out differently. Unless your going webway portal my rubric deployment will be straightforward where as SOTs can DS. Also utilizing them in cc where appropriate against specific units sets them apart.

I dont have a diverse meta and play Eldar quite a bit so my sample size research is not great though a unit of SOTs provides a great bully to apsects and other Eldar units with a warptiming Termie Sorcerer. They are situational and there is a need for them to be flexible like a cataphract, though with with DS, WT, even DMC can offer that.

I also play against DA and GK so a MVB to have str5 vs T4 buff I am hoping can do similar work.
