I realise I'm a bit late to the party on this thread but here goes:

Location: Southern England

Age: 23

Years playing 40k: A full decade as of this year

Years playing B.A.: 9 years - I started out as a Space Marine player but when the 2010 Blood Angels codex came out I walked into the store to see it sitting on the 'new' shelf. I was blown away by the cover art and bought it on the spot. Never looked back since through the highs and lows.

Favourite BA Character: Lemartes, though Dante and Tycho run him close.

Chapter: Blood Angels, who else?!

Years on the B&C: 7 years

Real Name:  Eric

Avatar:  My Chapter Master model (built from Asteron Moloch FW model)

Location:  Canada

Age: 28

Years playing 40k:  Started with the 3rd edition Black templars VS dark eldar (what an imbalanced box lol) but didn't really play. Spent a few years of my childhood painting red marines without thinning the paint. Recently got back into the hobby with 8th edition right after Chapter approved 2017.

Years playing B.A.:  for however long I actually "played" this game. I mostly play space marine soup (DW/BA/x) nowadays but I can never give up my blood angels detachment no matter how hard I try.

Favourite BA Character:  Mephiston originally, but after reading Dante and Devestation I think it has to be Dante now.

Chapter:  Sanguine Brotherhood. Red Armour with black left arm.

Years on the B&C:  Been lurking forever but only actively posting recently.

Favourite BA Character:  Surprisingly enough, Dante.

Chapter:  Blood Angels

Years on the B&C:  I've only become a member within the last year, but I'd been reading for a few months before that.

Years playing 40k: Started as a teenager and then dropped out through university but picked up again over the past 5 years.

Years playing B.A.: Since I started, they where my first army and continue to be my biggest. (Also have Necrons, Orks, Harlequins and Craftworlds)

Favourite BA Character: Captain Tycho, I have always been drawn to heros with tragic stories. In recent games he has done me proud. Survived two turns of a stormraven unloading everything to try to get warlord kill (Hurricane bolters too)

Chapter: Blood Angels, 3rd Company

Years on the B&C: Joined this year but been reading alot longer.

Ahhh, the great heresy. Worse then horus. The feared pdf codex where we were not as epic as out lore did seem.

For someone who never played that edition, what made the Rhino rush so effective for BA?

Fast vehicles? No Hull Points? Charging after disembarking?

Reasons 1 and 3, respectively I think. Going 18 inches with rhinos and charging after disembarking with assault troops such as 4+++ FnP DC and Chaplains that generated extra DC was pretty rad.

The Rhino Rush was a solid tactic for marines in general, but much more deadly for BA as we had the death company. The whole 4th ed 'vehicle access points' rule and 'no charging after disembarking' was made to counter the power of the tactic.

Rhino moves 12". 2" disembark. 6" Charge. Your opponent basically couldnt move forward 1st turn.

BA instead got a 18" move on the rhino, guaranteeing turn 1 charges.
