ETL VII Vow 3 WIP

Progress has been slower than I would like (story of my life at this point, I feel), but I should be on track to finish my third vow before the weekend.  It's not much for a 4th vow, but I plan to paint Ahriman before the contest ends.

I love the work coming out of here though.  Keep up the great work, let's finish strong!

I, Arakos The Corruptor, hereby report the successful completion of one Knight Desecrator pledged to the service of Lord Abaddon. Let the Galaxy tremble in its passing, and the servants of the Corpse-Emperor fall to ruin in its wake.

May further reinforcements rise from the endless tides of the Warp for this Black Crusade to grant us glorious Victory!

Death to the False Emperor!

Dark Apostle, are you sure this will work? The Rot is hard to work with at the best of times, and can we trust the others to work with us?

It does seem like a delicate balance doesn't it Apollus? But I can feel it. The Imperium, our cousins who follow the corpse Emperor, the atrocious Xenos and even echoes of the past are starting to stir. This requires specialists, not an army. As for the others... I trust you will be able to handle it.

-By the Dark Gods, your will be done Dark Apostle Pollux

That had been but a solar cycle ago, and only his faith in the Apostle's beliefs prevented Apollus from seeking out alternatives. But his Apostle had insisted that five champions were to be gathered. Four for the Gods, and one for Undivided. On occasion it was better to strike fear into the Corpse Emperor's forces through strength of unity.

But some would be less easy to convince than others. Which was why he was in the depths of the planet's hives, a maze of metal and steam, revving engines of those below blaring as the sound of endless slaughter filled his ears. The Brass Enclave, a splinter group within the host who exalted Khorne. In the eyes of many, even harboring a group such as this would be Heresy against the Primarch's word, but Apollus believed in his Apostle's creed, that some can find themselves drawn towards one part of the Pantheon above others, even among the most righteous.

His pack flared as twin bursts of fire trailed him, like some twisted meteor travelling further and further down. To a place where neither the cultists nor the Riders dare to venture. Even those who barter for the services of Juggernauts seem to fear this place... and for good reason.

Millennia of experience and foreknowledge are all that allow Apollus to stop in time , another Word Bearer missing him by inchest. While he was clad in the more twisted and chaotic armor of the riders, complete with a helmet that denoted his cult, his pack blazed the same unholy fire that Apollus had. The only remnants of the armor of a once proud member of the Ashen Circle squad Ignis. As he raised his hammer to strike the berserk Marine let out a growl and rushed at him... only for him to stop as the visor of Apollus armor reflected him.

"You're getting... sloppy brrrrother." Angrath, Brass-Lord of the Enclave, growled.

Apollus snorted as they landed on the ground below, a dusty white from discarded and powdered bone... before he looked at his former squadmate. "How are the nails treating you?"

Angrath let out a semi-feral roar at that, almost seeming ready to launch himself at Apollus again... before pulling himself into a more neutral stance. "Like the endless cry of war sings in my very veins." Angrath insisted. Personally Apollus was amazed he could even do that, that the Butchers Nails hadn't left Angrath entirely without his senses. "And I sense... you're hear for me because of that."

Apollus simply smiled.

The outskirts of the hives. Where mutants, spawn, Daemon Engines and those who either sought glory or challenge went. The fact that there was such a chaotic place outside of the hives was no surprise to Apollus. Simply known as the Pit, it was a massive Daemon World that was once home to a minor sect of the Dark Mechanicus. Now it belonged to the Four Fold Path, an alliance of four warbands from four legions. Each called a different hive or area of the planet their home, an uneasy peace at the best of times but one that, bar some hiccups, had managed to last.

And while some champions would be just as easy to track down as going to their respective hives, there was one who could take weeks to find... unless lured. Which was why Apollus simply sat in the wastes and waited. Unmoving, as he had for the last few hours. He would wait days if he had to, he'd rather die than disobey the Dark Apostle's orders, even with a member as dangerous as thi-

It was an instant. A blink. Suddenly above him clad in contrasting pink and black armor with a coat of many victims billowing, light blue optics glowing with a spectral power to them, axe raised and ready to take Apollus head.

Another Instant and the world tumbles around him. Angrath has forced him out of the way with a snarl, Lightning Claws alight with power and clashing with the massive axe, the sound of wailing souls echoing around the pair.

"Mmm... and here I thought you were just trying to make it easy for me Apollus." The Master of Executioners of the Emperor's Children Legion purred. The skulls on his trophy rack and heads in his hand had their eyes glow with the same power as his optics. "But if you've brought the beast with you, you're not asking for our rematch just yet, are you?"

Apollus stood up and wiped the dust off of his armor. "Indeed Triviun. Dark Apostle Pollux has plans for us." Apollus insisted.

"This one?" Angrath snarled. "Too much obsession with form! With the kill!"

"As if you're any better beast." Triviun dismissed. "But as much as I'd love to take your head... if Pollux was willing to risk you, then it must be something special indeed."

The sigils shifted. Servants of the False Emperor gathering their armies en masse. The Sisters of Battle pooling together. Mighty titans being roused.

They changed again. Imperial Marines gathering chapter by chapter. Blood Angels and successors gathering in a red tide, the wolves akin to a savage horde, and the Dark Angels... dancing on the strings of fate as usual.

Again. Filthy xenos abominations charging across the galaxy. Aeldari, Ork, Tau, Necron... perhaps even the Tyranids.

Again. This time the past, echoes upon the warp resonating into the future.

Again. Three armored figures, outside his sanctum.

Hotep, Exalted Sorcerer of the Thousand Sons, simple smiled and grabbed his helmet even as the disk beneath him moved towards his guests.

Trees. Rotten, growing, foul trees. All around him, reaching for him, seeking him for his soul. The blacksmith raised his hammer in the air, surrounded by fire.

Why do you call for us?

The trees themselves seemed to echo with the words. The Blacksmith's eyes narrowed. "A holy mission has been called! A strike for the Dark Gods!"

You wouldn't need us if you accepted decay into your life, little smith.

The Blacksmith shook his head. "We've discussed this before. I am one of all four, you cannot sway me!"

But if our branches reached into your-

As the tree branches reached out to grasp at the smith, muticoloured fire in the shape of a raven grapsed at one, while a wolf like beast with great claws and a black clad executioner struck out at the others. A cry of pain sounded out at first... before a creaking, bubbling laughter sounded out.

And as the trees cleared, Apollus, Angrath, Triviun Hotep focused their gaze on a being that seemed a twisted blend of rotten flesh, bone, decaying armor and twisted trees. An embodiment of a piece of the Garden of Nurgle, the Rot, continued to let out a bubbling, roaring laughter.

"You have the others already? Well... this should be fun."

I, Leonite, being clearly mad enough to write all that blind and without a plan, do declare my vow to paint five Chaos HQ's, one of each of the gods plus Undivided, FINISHED! I have succeeded with my vow with but a week and a half to go until my trip.

Captain Semper, you may NOW put me down as complete.

Uh hey everyone. Long time no see. I took a hiatus from 40k after the rules took a nose dive and got into competitive MTG. Went to the pro tour in Japan, checked some boxes. Now I'm getting back into 40k as a chill hobby, still doing magic for the tournament thrill.

I missed the vow deadline and in fact just finished building all my stuff last night. I'll paint some of it for an unofficial vow and see what I can get done in a month. I'm still waiting on my codex to get here so I don't have a point total yet. I'll update this post later with pictures and points, but list what I bought to start with.

Tldr: it's good to be back I'm cheering on my chaos family from the sidelines.

Good to have you back. You'll find the rules have improved.

Decided to push through, here's my completed third vow!

ETL VII Vow 3 Finished #2

I have a smaller vow coming up, but it's what I can realistically get done in the last month with work picking back up for me.  So, here goes...

I, Dasanaman017, rise again to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX on the side of Chaos and vow to complete:

  • Ahriman on a Disc of Tzeentch for 166 points, and
  • 3 Flamers of Tzeentch for 25 points each,

of total value 241 points on or before September 1st, 2019. Success will bring eternal glory to the Sons of Magnus and failure will doom me to wear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end.

UPDATED TO THIS POINT!

Think I might... but I'm gonna take it into Word first to edit it. All that writing was what happens when inspiration strikes me and I spend an hour putting thoughts to screen. And as for the bases, well, I've stopped seeing a model as finished without them personally. Changing personal standards means a higher value product

Great to see a load more completions. I'm plugging away at the Heldrake at the moment it's quite a big model so I'm just crunching one bit at a time.

Going to take a little box of paints and model on holiday and hopefully sit in the evenings and paint mostly depends on getting the kids to bed at a sane time.

Typical, I get my hobby mojo back and start flying through my vow and some of my paints have dried up. I may not be able to finish to the standard I want but at least everything will be tabletop standard, best I can do with so little cash .

Good news is Ill be re vowing next week, Spawn time!!!

Hah, in preparing my stuff to go on display after my vow... I found the parts of an old conversion. Think I might clean him off and see what I can touch up as an unofficial cherry on top. A Dark Mechanicus Warpsmith, A Heretekmarine on a bike. Ivo, Traitor of Ferrus Geneseed who claims to be a former Iron Hand.
