Here you must also post your “before” and “after” pics of your vows as well as any WIP you may want to share. You may also use this thread to discuss the progress of the event with your fellow participants, exchange ideas, offer and receive modelling/painting advice and generally have some ETL–related fun!

You can vow any Units from all official Black and Red books – provided the points are taken from the latest version.

IMPORTANT NOTE: THE COLOURS OR LOYALTY AND TREACHERY
The only limitation is that participants of the AoD-T Outpost cannot choose units explicitly labelled “Loyalist”. Other than that, there is no restriction. You can paint whatever Legion or other HH sub-faction you like provided you respect the condition above.

IMPORTANT NOTE: TITANS ARE TITANS
It is a fact that the AoD Faction will suffer from a discount in points vs. 40k for similar units. This is not viewed as an overwhelming handicap in general, but we believe it is especially unfair for Titans. As such, for Titans and Titans only, the AoD faction will be using the 40k points, i.e.

The bridge of the Judicator sleeps in a quiet deathly haze as its master peers at the slowly pirouetting grey green marble looming large through the armourglas panels. Specks of light traverse the void between the distant world and the judicature, swimming like dust motes caught in rays of sunlight.

An astartes rests an open palm against the thin sheet separating him and the vacuous wilds beyond. “Another year in the Warmaster's service, another year of bloodshed.” he whispers to none but himself. Fine lines trace his gaunt features as the twang of pain from resting too heavily on his wrist. The thin adamantium pins that held his still recovering limb together stabbed into the marrow, dragging an uneasy sigh from his lips. “I'm starting to envy the dead.”

Battlezones from Anzus to Strathconis had left hundreds of his legionnaires strewn across the blood slicked fields and shattered cities, yet the warmaster had seen fit to grant him yet more reserves, more corpses in waiting.

A quiet hiss of pneumatic doors and the patter of booted feet registersin the back of the astartes genhanced mind, but he does not stir. “M-marshal,” a young deck officer's voice hitches, “most of the menials and provisions have been loaded. The heavy equipment and newest selection of legionnaires are ready to be brought on board at your word, Lord Ahazaar. I have your requisition papers and orders.”

Marshal Ahazaar turns to see the grey-clad officer. The junior fleet officer holds a dataslate out while keeping his head bowed in deference. The Astartes commander waits and watches. The man's hands shake at the delay, it was subtle but detectable to his genhanced senses.

'Too many cowed dogs and lamed lions. Maybe I should get Daich to just take over this ship, she can't be any more incompetent.'

“That will be fine, lieutenant.” An outstretched hand plucks the grey slate from near-nerveless fingers. There was merely a bob of acknowledgement. The junior officer practically scurries out the door, the echoed command catching him at the last moment, “Send Akisen in.”

He would need a logician for this, but with every passing day, the marshal was growing more certain even her erudite talents weren't enough to save them from the spiral. He glances down at the orders as soft and far more certain footsteps subsume the hastily beaten retreat of the fleet officer. With a sigh, the marshal directs his focus to the dataslate.

It has been deemed appropriate that more resources are directed to fight the Imperialist forces. I Vykes, marshal of recruitment for the Warmaster's 33rd battalion, rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX on the side of the Age of Darkness to support the Warmaster. For the glory of Lord Lupercal, regent of Mankind and Emperor in all but name, it has been decreed that the 65^th company, 33^rd bt, will raise a force of astartes no less than one score and fifteen as well as two armoured vehicles.

• Breacher Squad Bastion has been raised. Sergeant Kazorrus reports a single melta gun specialist and seventeen legionnaires, and an honoured legionnaire bearing the squads vexillia for a total strength of one score. (20 Breachers + meltagun + Vexilia + Sgt [artificer armour, thunderhammer+melta bombs] =415)
• Veteran legionnaires under Sergeant Lekassik are already assembled. His squad of sappers numbers nine other troopers of exceptional abilities, additional melta charges and fuel cells have been allocated for his use. (10 Veterans + 10 combi melta + melta bombs +sgt [artificer armour] = 295)
• Veteran Legionnaires under Sergeant Tazel have been called from other duties. His squad are to work as a protection detail, and to this end have a variety of specialists including a nuncio-vox operator, two close combat soldiers, and another trooper (5 Veterans +1 combi plas + Vox= 120)
• Predator Charger Lead is also undergoing maintenance. Its las cannon sponsons have their armoured plating removed in accordance with the other two vehicles in its squadron. (Predator tank + Las Sponsons =115)
• Vindicator Cadence is beng refitted with a laser destroyer array. It will be renamed Shrike when alterations are completed (Vindicator tank + Mine plough+ Laser Destroyer Array =140)

Alright, so I decided on a smaller initial vow because it'll likely be all my Sons of Horus (unless I decide to add more outriders. And no, this is separate from the upcoming Luna Wolf vow), aaaand because I'm kinda gonna try to do something insane and get that predator done for a 5K match against a custodes player tomorrow. That last predator makes a full squadron I can toss around and tank hunter versus armour 13 isn't bad.

No worries, I'm stripping some mk. IV from someone who sold off an army, the perfidious 20th legion shall make an appearance here, as well.

Thanks Eidolon the III Legion is Always glorious its just in there genes, also the plan is to have every dude pimped out with the EC heads and torsos and custom legion transfers.

I'm not aiming for martyr this year Vykes, my Primary goals are to 1) paint more models and 2) paint more in terms of points, that being said If I end up as the martyr it's not like I'll decline the award. that being said there maybe some stiff compatition this year, 1 bloke over in the BA forum is doing a full company of space marines which is only slightly more bonkers than my first vow, that and quite a few warhounds have been pledged this year already so who knows? Also loved the fluff and sense of narrative from reading your vow, not only that but massive props on almost finishing that predator in no time flat!

@Eternal Despair; no idea tbh, I've got a penchant for grey since I airbrushed all my Gryphonicus AT stuff, and there is a nice illustration of a Castellax in Gryphonicus heraldry, but that wouldn't be very traitorous, would it?!

 

So just grey and white markings, very neutral so they can be loyalist or traitor as and when needed. Unless anyone can recommend any grey forgeworlds?

But it's fun, the spectacle keeps me on my toes.

Hah, you got it in one, Lamebeard, my dude.  That is absolutely Azrael's sweet sweet bullpup combi bolter. A friend gave me the old metal a while back and I stashed him away in my bits box, so when I needed some fun standout vet/vet sergeant, I just had to steal that bolter.

 

Post Scriptum: 

Aaaand there we go, airbrushed the basic greens on the rest of the vow, just gotta wait for it to dry, then glosscoat, prep for inks and washes.  I guess I should take the time to make a list of how I do weathering for vehicles.  Heard a few people ask me about that one for a little while now.
