Transport up for pre-order Saturday 29th

Recommended Posts

The apocalypse data sheet has neither the fly or open topped keywords whereas other units in other armies do (Drukari for example) so it seems like the Skorpius doesn’t have them sadly.

Which is again OK for me, keeps this thing on the cheaper side

Cheaper side of points  == expensive on the wallet.

Yep. If it ends up at around 80p, at least in my currency the termite would be less expensive per point. GW has been increasing the prices rather constantly, so I'll only buy this at an independent store with massive discount.

Just looked at the apocalypse datasheet - the content restrictions on the transport seem to be the same as on the Terrax - no Cawl, no kataphron, 10 skitarii/secutarii.

Our Forge world has cornered the market in Dragoons , and Ironstriders .... just don't tell my Magos Dominia  how much they cost each ... cough .. cough   9 o.O
she hates them enough from helping assemble them.  I will admit to scouring the market for every used and unloved / broken dragoon ... which has lead to some interesting kitbash's  including dark elf lances or vampire counts  plastic bits  with  fulgarite stave tips instead of  taser lances.

Its part of why there are no Fulgarites on Forge world  Synth VIII  .... well unless you count very cheap counts as blackstone fortress Dark mechanicum ones.

Yeah, dragoons...I've been playing skitarii since release, but until recently I haven't known you could field up to 6 in a squad - only rather recently I got up to 4, so it never occurred to me.

But the dunerider looks a lot better than the chicken. I'll definitely get quite a few of those...

I have 5 chicken walkers and the amount of times they have little bits broken is unreal. Sometimes just in foam.

Highlight was a friend getting excited with his tape measure and it flying out of his hand into said squad of 5.

The result was akin to a bowling ball unto skittles. Some broken bits yet to be recovered to this day

I only own 3 and I so despised putting them together. That said I find them so efficient I’m not pulling the trigger on the the transport until I know more. As it stands I won’t purchase any. I’d just get 2 more Dragoons instead.

Cheers for the points krakjen!

Am happy with the transports.

Pretty much same price as a rhino but swapping toughness for dakka and a leadership boost to nearby troops (+ access to the autoexplode strat). I can fully live with this playing stygies :smile.:

Looks good. Fly would have been unrealistic on top the Hover rule.

73p for a fast transport with a dozen shots that's not much slowed down in the first damage bracket is absolutely fine. Cheap enough to get skitarii/sicarians/priests down range.

116p for Ferrumite is good too - with missiles, it's slightly higher damage against all targets than our holy neutronager, trading the invul for speed and +1W.

This does fit our skitarii theme perfectly - competent yet still human units, tech guard rather than just steampunk marines.

I'm pleasantly surprised that my Hoplites can figure out how to get on board. This makes this abundantly clear that Secutarii are more intelligent than Primaris Marines. I am sad that the vehicle wasn't given the open-topped rule but I'm buying it for the collection rather than worrying about special rules. If my army ever makes it to the gaming table it's less special rules for me to try not to forget. :p

Open topped was unrealistic. Yeah sure, they could in theory fire at knights and flyers, but for everything else they would have to stand on each other's shoulders. Which could hurt, considering where the lower guy's antenna could end up.

Still, it will be hilarious flooding the board with 2+ armour transports. :happy.:

Open topped would be unreasonable at this points cost, but not unreasonable in itself.

While I think the transport itself is pretty reasonable, I still struggle what we would actually like to put in it with the current rules.

Meele units are probably still slightly better served by a drill and the ranged units we can put in are mostly too cheap and mobile to bother with a transport. We don’t have the elite ranged squads the rhino can be used to protect, so I fear it will end up like the guard chimera: a nice unit in theory, but not much reason to utilize it.

I would gladly pay a big points premium if it was open topped or at least had fly...

I'm just thinking: 3 transports full of plasma/cc/... + unit of 4 dragons+ 3 tanks+2 ironstriders laser for cover, everybody rushing on enemies. (stygie?)

It doesn't seem too week for me even without T1 and not that expensive. A new way of playing admech...that I'd love.
