Codex: Space Marines 2.0 speculation & discussion

They certainly appear to have been left out, as have models like Calgar in Terminator armour and Tigurius.

GW has once said that counts as is okay with older models as long as it's clear what they are... I wonder if that applies to Calgar and Tigurius?

I failt to see how it wouldn't.

Does anyone know how to contact 40K rules team or FAQ team?  Need to know if Index units will get the Angels of Death special rules now that FW units also get it.

Don't expect Index units to get updates. They got left in the Index because GW doesn't plan to keep supporting them after all, otherwise they would've been in the Codex too.

Which is a massive shame as I JUST converted a biker Ancient which I was really proud of.

It's more of a problem for White Scars thematically but they can at least use Rhinos, Impulsors and the like.

Ah well, having a great Codex softens the blow a little.

You're telling me, I have a chaplain biker I put hours into converting and painting that I can't use anymore

Have the dex in my hands.

My only real gripe. Reiver's carbines are still Assault 2, while the auto-bolt rifle is now Assault 3

Whomp whomp....

Was excited to use my space wolves kill teams lads (played as star phantoms successor tactics, just wolf paint scheme) as a fluffy-lookswise outflanking team with that Assault3 making them 15 shots, as a good rear-grabber unit.

Still only 10 though. :/

My complaint is this: angelos needs a faq to have combat doctrines and shock assault, because it's not in the white dwarf article from less than a month ago and it wasn't in their faq today. That release just feels increasingly low effort on every revisit.

Edit: of course purgatorus is actually just a generic relic. Like same name and everything so you couldn't even double up. No effort in the white dwarf article whatsoever.

WD article always appeared to me as an indication of what's to come. Like a preview.

The real unfortunate piece is that they didn't use that as an example to show off the new chapter tactics rather than a backdoor pilot.

I agree up to a point; my expectations are based on previous, similar releases. So all the other Index articles, Crimson Fists foremost.

My biggest current gripe isn't even about the relic or the tactic. It's that if you take angelos, you lose on the entire combat doctrine mechanic...

If that isn't an argument to cease these index articles, I don't know what is.

There's clearly no safe way to maintain continuity in the rules between these two setups.

Thanks - just reread the Strategic Discipline rule on page 215 of the BRB. Derp.

Pretty sure that doesn't apply to before game strats still, right? I'm so rusty on those things what with having done the same things for the past two years. Now that there's choices I'm forgetting the limitations lol

Ya, im honestly surprised by reivers getting almost no changes. I REALLY want to like them, I really do. but :/

Yeah exactly. Couldn't find it before I posted and asked (searching my BRB pdf gave 173 instances of "stratagem" and I couldn't remember where it was located).

Finding the source of the rules answer on my own is better anyways so I can actually show my opponent or TO if it comes up and I need to argue it.

STRATEGIC DISCIPLINE The same Stratagem cannot be used by the same player more than once during any single phase. This does not affect Stratagems that are not used during a phase, such as those used ‘before the battle begins’ or ‘at the end of a battle round’

Reivers are much better.

-Cheaper, only 16 points!

-Terror Troops now stacks. Two squads and a Lt have a -3 Ld debuff to enemy units.

-Doctrines benefit Carbines and Knives

wolves only get 2 of those three.
