The whites actually bone, a combination of lighting and potato-cam bleaches it in most pics I take.

 

As for the stencils, they're pretty cool but I prefer freehand because then if the shape on the stencil isn't right it's not a problem. My brain fixates on always using a tool sometimes, so I try and avoid using tools that will inherently limit me. Also doodling knotwork is fun.

Gold knot work would look cool, purple can also pop off green but I’m not sure if that’s the color you want to add. You could also use a gold Sharpie or paint pen to lay out the lines before adding paint.
