Sherrypie
Got some gaming in again, 4000 points of Epic Armageddon as my XIV butted heads against an armoured Ork force. Due to unexpectedly light aircover, my two Thunderhawks full of terminators smacked right against the Orks' artillery positions and proceeded to absolutely wreck hordes of buggies and bikers sent against them in countercharge. While this crumbling of their right flank was happening, their gunwagons pushed too eagerly forwards and met a line bristling with lascannons. After even the warlord in his mighty gargant fell down in flames, it was clear this day would go the XIV. Sherrypie
Painting carries on with the Fellblades, but first more gaming against a fellow club member and their beautiful Krieg army :)Things got bloody fast on this pretty dense table, as we both garrisoned the craters in the middle, his aircover was stuffing their faces with doughnuts at the aerodome while my terminators were dropping down fists first through his armoured units, titans struggled to find lines of fire and his line could not find the heart to regroup after first attrition started to rain in.As always, click the pictures to see more than potatoes. This game is damn good. I love it. Sherrypie
Thanks noigrim, they are cute but about to get replaced by proper Fellblades about... now. Some of the prints had rather visible defects, but I think they worked out pretty well as battle damage. Small things like hulls slashed open have never stopped XIV before either :D noigrim, ShotgunFacelift, The Ergonomic Enginseer and 4 others 7 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/357330-echoes-of-eisenstein-upscaling-madness-with-the-xiv/page/5/#findComment-5569049 Share on other sites
noigrim
Which rules do you use, netepic? These are the best epic fellblades since maybe ever Edited July 23, 2020 by noigrim Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/357330-echoes-of-eisenstein-upscaling-madness-with-the-xiv/page/5/#findComment-5569058 Share on other sites
Sherrypie
Thanks! It's all in the secret recipe... (just lathering Burnt Umber everywhere, basically) Ruleswise I'm running the XIV with EpicAU's Heresy list, I like its style. If it weren't the coolest, I'd probably figure something out from EpicUK's very polished lists. AU, UK, NetEA, they all run on the same core rules so casually playing with various lists is just dandy. noigrim 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/357330-echoes-of-eisenstein-upscaling-madness-with-the-xiv/page/5/#findComment-5569078 Share on other sites
noigrim
The new epic seems a bit cluttered with firing all weapons separatelly, do you find that's a problem? Sherrypie
Nah, Armageddon is an intuitive system where it's pretty clear what things do and the number of dice being rolled is pretty low. All similar guns fire at the same time so you just go "first these heavy bolters against infantry, okay, then one lascannon against the tanks" when activating a detachment, which can only fire at one enemy detachment at a time anyway. The assault rules are somewhat clunky oldschool stuff, but they're pretty easy too after a few takes. Sherrypie
Thanks Bjorn! This time it's time to say hello to my little friends at the Basilisk battery. Everything looks instantly much livelier when the crew is in place. Also a better look at the Sicarians.I'll need to play at least 6000 points to get all those Basilisks on the field, one day... :D Bjorn Firewalker, Givemead, Llagos_Tyrant and 1 other 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/357330-echoes-of-eisenstein-upscaling-madness-with-the-xiv/page/5/#findComment-5588864 Share on other sites

Sherrypie
Are these 3d prints? Yes, resin printed 6 mm models from Thingiverse. One bonus over metal third party models is the ease of converting, I'd lose my mind wondering how to remove the bases from metal troopers to get them how I want them :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/357330-echoes-of-eisenstein-upscaling-madness-with-the-xiv/page/5/#findComment-5589565 Share on other sites

Sherrypie
With Epic gaining ever more momentum in my repertoire, it seems fitting to have another army at the ready. Something that plays way differently from the XIV but plays nicely along with my existing titans and knights.Enter the Mechanicum.Cleaned a few engines today while waiting for the Vanguard Miniatures infantry to arrive along with the priests, should last me a minute to finish :DAlso bashed a fun little Ordinatus together for that sweet sillyness amidst all the boringly effective barrages.Quick backhand calculation says I've got maybe 11000 or so points of stuff here with the infantry, so in the same ballpark as the marines before their reinforcements get done. Sherrypie
On Epic ffront, I tried to rescue some slightly badly printed Thanatars by swapping in some Leviathan arms (they got robo fists and antipersonnel dakka with belt-feeds, why not). Breaks uniformity in the ranks nicely, too. noigrim 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/357330-echoes-of-eisenstein-upscaling-madness-with-the-xiv/page/5/#findComment-5596149 Share on other sites
Sherrypie
Trying out washer bases, the print supports can be handily used to cover the hole as well as provide a nice direction for the basing style :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/357330-echoes-of-eisenstein-upscaling-madness-with-the-xiv/page/5/#findComment-5599426 Share on other sites
