Discussion on the new C:SM & Possible BT supplement

Recommended Posts

I love that steel rain is back.  Like really LOVE this.

The tourney players in my area say that's a bad idea, as it gives mid-range units a way to insulate themselves from fire by locking a pod into CC (no danger since the pod can't strike back).

That is just correct if you want to shoot them. If you Play full hardcore melee...  it could be a Thing - in Addition because so they wont give overwatch.

With Chaplain Grimaldus getting the new Chaplain rules...

The Chaplain, if you assume its worth a command point reroll, will convert his Litany 8 out 9 times, so the Canticle of Hate is within reach fairly reliably for +2" charge and +3" consolidate and pile in, applying to units w/n 6" of the Chaplain.

Larger units, like Crusaders, could accomplish some crazy feats with that, tagging deep into enemy gunlines, locking up potentially many enemy units.

Furthermore, 2 + 2d6 averages 9", so any Black Templar charges will succeed more than 75% of the time. I could work out the math but I'm being a bit lazy. My guestimate is that combining the Canticle of Hate with a 9" charge with 1 CP spent on the Canticle if it fails, will succeed 66% of the time. And balls to the walls, you can have more than 1 unit within 6" of the Chaplain, and the Chaplain can charge too, moving himself into aura range of still more Black Templar units. There's some potential here for some Sean Nayden, high skill type of movement plays.

Our company veterans got another buff with our chapter tactics.

If he intercepted the wound a character in 3'' gets, he would get mortal wounds in the same amount.

We now have a 5+ FnP against mortal wounds.

Am i reading this correctly?

That's correct!

Speaking of the new chapter tactic, I am considering sticking melee weapons on every sarge. I have been doing some testing, its so easy for us to get into combat, and we get so many attacks now.

We may as well consider everything a melee unit and have them put in work every phase.

The way i understand it:

Make the saves for the character. (you can take the wounds one after a time)

If you fail it, throw a w6 on a 2+ the company veterans takes the mortal wounds on the same amount.

Throw w6 on a 5+ FnP for mortal wounds.

This sounds especially good for bikers against 2D weapony.

Proceed with the next saving throw for the character.

forget about the current problem not speaking french^^

Whats the exact wording - would be pleased sooooo much.

No, the unit only suffers a single mortal wound regardless of what the damage number is. It's based on a per attack basis, not a per wound basis.

like the Tau drones... (which I hate sooo much)
