New Codex - Math for Thought; Bad, Good or In-Between?

The new codex has 76 datasheets included. Noted to be universal for all chapters, there are 85 datasheets in current codex space marines. That means 9 datasheets are NOT INCLUDED in the book that are in the current one.

For sake of example there are;

5 Templar Unique Datasheets (Grim, Helbrecht, EChampion, Cenos and Crusader Squads)

5 Non-Ultra non-Templar Characters/Units (Vulkan, Pedro, Lysander, Shrike, And Khan)

9 Ultra Special Characters (Gulliman, Marneus, Crassus, Tigurius, Telion, Sicarus, and Chronus)

Additionally new units not included in the current codex;

6 Shadowspear/Phobos Units (Cpt, Liu, Librarian, Suppressor, Eliminator, And infilitrator))

3 Vehicles (Repulsor Destroyer, NotRhino, and NotDread)

5 Ultra Unique Non-FW (Tyrannic War*, LRVariant*, Primaris HG, Primaris Marneus & Tigurius)

2 Scars Unique Non-FW (Khan on Bike*, And Primaris Khan)

1 Iron Hand Unique non-FW (New Guy)

6 Index Bike Units* (Chappy, Tech, Apothecary, Ancient, Champion And Company Veterans)

1 Non-FW Index Other* (Legion, And Anniversary Marine)

Even if all chapter only x units are removed from we are at 75 not 76 datasheets. Which means either an index unit is non-Index, we have two Phobos liutanent datasheets. Or there is one more unit not announced yet. And finally; there is highly/very likely there WILL not be any unique/chapter specific units in here.

Another possibility to bump the count up and allow more units is that certain units (Telion And Chronus) MIGHT become Generic or otherwise. So yeah. There is that

*Index 1: Astartes only units

Don't know why the count would be worrying - lends more credence to the fact that each First Founding, and hopefully several Secound Founding, Chapters will all get their own supplements with unique data sheets to them. The lower count should actually give everyone more hope that we may get some unique things.

Fair response; I should change the title (how do I on that note?) I just kinda freaked because last edition how GW just kinda screwed me with the battle company and how it didn’t include/let me use my chapters thing.

It also worries because as a Non-Big Name my chapter UU might be “squatted”. If I am not able to retain a prized position in the codex ESPACIALLY sense I do not have a kit associated with said unit

The danger of playing a GW created Chapter is always that GW will choose to do something with said Chapter that you don't like - that way lies tears, anger, resentment, the dark side, but sometimes cookies and fuzzy rainbows when you agree with what they do.

That's why I don't bother. My only real current "canon" Chapter is the Space Wolves, and I technically play an off-color Great Company so I can just ignore their story for the associated Great Company if I want to.

You can edit the name of the thread by editing your first post. Also, in the spirit of friendly advice: ESPACIALLY sense = especially since.

On the topic. I think your maths increases my optimism. We are not getting squatted, but our 5 data sheets won't fit in the main codex of 76, we have to go somewhere...

As long as I know my Crusader Squads are safe from being Bretonnia’d I wouldn’t be worried. And I for once actually was in a very happy place sense 5th regarding my chapter. While not perfect, it’s best place my boys in black had been sense mid-5th. But with very likely potential loss of my chapter and my chapter iconic unit going index then Bretonnia. And the fact we were like only chapter in codex space marine not given a tease or something recently*.

1) Ultras are Ultras

2) Iron Hand New Character

3) Crimson Fists Index Article

4) Scars announced Supplement

5) IF Upgrade Sprew

Like if that happens, fine. But atleast would appreciate a line of recgonization or something you know like “well not for those chapters who might distaste the witch”. I dunno just worried

*admittedly Ravengaurd and Salies are in my situation too. But as first founding, they have a stronger hold than a second founding chapter does. Salies also have an upgrade sprew coming likely given hand flamer on birthday Sgt. Admittedly all 3 in Vigilus.

I'm hoping GW took this opportunity to consolidate some datasheets.

All PA veteran units could be one, same with Terminators, Landraiders and a few others.

I'd love that, but unless there's hidden units we've not been shown included, the numbers don't suggest that :(

But also...with this supplement concept, they also don't really need to either. Not yet, anyway...

I just reread the article on wahammer community, and if I’m not mistaken we’re going to have acces to 13 generic spacemarine spells and then some (6?) chapter specific ones as well. Looks like librarians might make a strong comeback for the spacemarines

I believe that the Ultramarines and White Scars both have unique disciplines?

I just don't see why a Primaris Champion would need a different datasheet than a non-primaris, the current EC is still way better than a standard initiate or intercessor, which is what they really are, just with better gear and enthused with the spirit of the Emperor.

I suppose. I kinda wish that rule would die out though.

As for the model, I never liked the 4th edition champion, I always preferred the 3rd edition 25th anniversary model. (The first ever Templar special character model.)

Admittedly I glossed over the math on the number of data sheets, but it sounds like your count of 75 is NOT including Guiliman?

If that's the case then I suspect that he would be your missing datasheet; because while he may be an ultramarine, he is also Lord Commander of the IMPERIUM, not just Ultramar.  Guardsmen, knights, mechancius and indeed ALL who fight for the imperium benefit from his glorious presence and inspiring command, so why would he not be in the main codex?

just my two cents.
