It's about damn time! Hopefully, someone COMPETENT will write the fluff; Games Workshop's own writers sometimes overemphasize the pain gloves' use, as if they think all Imperial Fists are hard core masochists just one whiplash away from turning to Slaanesh.

Ah this looks quite nice

And for those of a more crimson persuasion this also looks pretty sweet

So other than our brothers of Zeal we all get extra hits on 6's with bolt weapons which does make me wonder what - if anything - Bolter Drill will now do.

As for our more Zealous brethren

Seems like a decent improvement to me - but I'm no expert on how they play.

Big key thing is the vehicles get CT too now so maximum bolters on the vehicles brothers.

Must show... restraint....

Brothers, this looks pretty good, what foul heresy is this?

Brother you will laugh in the face of the sorceries of the foul heretics - about 1/3 of the time ;)

To be fair they all seem pretty solid upgrades to me. My Crimson Fists might lose a tiny bit of something on lone Characters but they hardly ever need the +1 anyway while exploding hits on any natural 6 is basically Heroes of Rynn's World on all bolters all the time which could really add up over a game with how many bolters I am planning on bringing.

Very encouraging so far.

Oh, seems you guys lost your'e wounding building thing and got a buff for bolters.... Well I like the wounding buildings part of the trait better anyway for IW's.*

*Sad iron noises. :sad.:

Poor little Iron Warrior, let me put you out of your misery.

BLAM

Traitor.

I have mixed feelings about the Crimson Fist change from double to 5. On the upside, taking a unit of 10 isn't completely stupid anymore but needing to pick larger targets in general means it'll come up a lot less often. It's very rare to see a unit of more than 5 anything in my meta.

Then again, I was always forgetting to use the rule anyway. So much so that I was considering dropping the White Dwarf rules and going back to ignoring cover like our brethren. That's no longer an option.

Yeah I don’t think that trait helps at all unless your shooting at conscripts, boyz, or gaunts.

Unrelated note, I hate how my phone doesn’t understand ork speak

The modified Crimson Fists CT is a bit more situational than the old one but it still has value. In my local store tournaments the other player on an unbeaten run plays GSC with lots of infantry squads and a huge blob of genestealers. Getting +1 to hit those is really nice, getting +1 to Auspex Scan shoot the genestealers is a significant boost especially combined with the extra 20% bolter hits we get from the other part of the CT.

Crimson Fists might be a little over specialised but they are the OG marines so I don't care. What will make or break them as a competitive army will be the combos of relics/strats etc when we get them - not the chapter tactic.

I'm hopeful for a book devoted to the Imperial Fists without too much mention of successors. The Crimson Fists got the index treatment not too long ago and frankly the Black Templars deserve their own supplement and upgrade sprue.

I also feel there is enough to fill out a book. Apart from the traditional siege stuff, there is the feast of blades swordsmanship aspect, the huscarls, the follow up to Lysander leading a force into the eye just before the rift happened and IIRC on the original IA for the predator it said IF techmarines had come up with a way to target csm vehicles to sever the symbiosis between machine and pilot. Plenty to fill a book with without zweihanders and witch hating!

But Zweihanders and witch hating are the fun bits!

You might be in luck. After checking the UM supplement, it barely mentions successors, so I don't expect IF to be treated differently.

And if SpanishInquisitor rumour pans out, about BT rules coming out on a Vigilus like campaign book, GW just needs to sort out CF doctrines really, unless they use the same as IF.

Due to the fact that the supplements are not coming out in quick succession, It lends me to believe that there might be some truth about that rumour, and this is my assumption, BT rules will come with the psychic awakening campaign around October/November.
