Apocalypse Deathwatch

I got to use my killteam a couple of times.

Imperium Patrol: Karamazov, small unit of Sisters of Silence.

Astartes Vanguard: Lib Dread, Wulfen Dread, Ironclad, Contemptor

Astartes Vanguard: Venerable (TLLC), 2*Normal (TLLC [Proxy Salamanders), 1* Redemptor

The downside was, for the size of Apocalypse, my many dreadnoughts isn't actually very timesaving.

I'd be quicker rolling my smaller killteams into Battalions! - Deathwatch w/Bolters x3, a vets w/Heavy to go with the shooting dreads, and a vets w/DWMelee to go with the assaulty!

I get the impression with Apocalypse that having bigger units is better, and having more unified detachments is ideal.

So all combat or all shooting. Little point in having lots of mixed forces.

(Which, again, means DW are a bit out of place.)

However, if you love kitbashing (I do) and hate faffing about to get the optimum build (storm bolter/shield

Theory crafting a bit but I dont see why a battalion of intercessors (apothecary), an outrider with a jump captain and bikes, and a spearhead of repulsor execs wouldn't pull their weight.

Maybe small vet units with heavy bolters and missiles to camp the back if your hold a battalion in the rear for support? Mixing beyond that seems weird... and I love my standard 40k games with mixed weapons.
