Zephaniah Adriyen
So, I'm picking up a Primaris Shrike within the next month or two. I want to convert him to wear his helmet. Has anyone done this? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/359350-kayvaan-shrike-helmet-conversion-with-no-kitbash/ Share on other sites
Fajita Fan
I'm looking at the sprue breakdown and it looks like a piece of cake if you have another beaky helment. Saving his beaky helmet looks hard because of the contact point but you just cut that off and glue a grenade or auspex bit to his belt to cover it up. Swapping molded on shoulders is much more difficult than swapping heads. Jukkiz
It´s not that hard conversion to do, BUT, if you want him looking other ways, you might need to resculpt the back of the helmet where it was connected to the belt. Also you need the collar/neck piece form somewhere to get helmet seated. Tyberos the Red Wake
The helmet is very easy to cut off, especially if you don't mind hacking up the grenades or pouches or whatever they're attached to. The problem is the helmet is flat on the bottom, and transplanting a rounded neck nub onto it is a huge pain in the ass. I think if you could reliably sand the needed additional neck length flat and used plastic glue or green stuff to join the two together, it'll be fine, but I personally was too lazy/didn't have the tools to add a proper neck to the helmet. After hacking off a random helmet and being left with just the neck, it was extremely hard to both grip in my fingers and sand perfectly flat, as well as seamlessly attach it to the bottom of Shrike's helmet. You can get around this by diligently sanding the neck level on a table, and holding it with pliers or a drilled wire. I just used my fingers and started sawing away on a flat sanding stick and file, which wasn't the greatest. Gederas
duz_ did it, using Shrike's helmet: So it doesn't seem too hard. The most difficult part would be building a new neck for the helmet. Zephaniah Adriyen
I've done necks before, so... thank you, this is exactly what I needed. Jolemai
Don't be like Duz and trim the base though  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/359350-kayvaan-shrike-helmet-conversion-with-no-kitbash/#findComment-5414102 Share on other sites
duz_
Plenty of Frater in the Ravenspire have gone this route It's fairly straight forward just need a sharp hobby knife blade and steady hand you can even save the pouches and use them after. As for the neck I just trimmed the section from the regular head and glued that in the socket and placed the helmet on top :tu: Ignore Jol he's being a tease although I have had some TOs claim that having modified his base is modelling for advantage  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/359350-kayvaan-shrike-helmet-conversion-with-no-kitbash/#findComment-5414198 Share on other sites

Wakkomaster
I was thinking, I know it's not really Raven Guard-ish, but what about using one of the new Phobos helmets? They should fit just right with no need to trim anything, no? It could be an even easier solution, if you like the look.
