TIKT...

I cracked open my fractal blades box. Added 5 scarab occult terminators to my army and used the box and tokens to store all my KT related paraphernalia minus minies.

Really happy with this afternoon!

how are you going to build the scarab occult terminator team?
They will be integrated into my SoT unit for 40k. 4 storm bolters and 1 canon/missile rack.

Had a match of AdMech against Thousand Sons last night with a really trash opponent (myself).  Things started rather poorly for the AdMech after the Thousand Sons Warpflamer got a 6 for shots and roasted a vanguard and omnispex Ranger.  Psybolt then ate another vanguard.

The AdMech had a couple chances at a comeback, and blasted apart a Rubric Marine with overcharged Plasma.  They also got lucky turn 2 and wasted a charging Twistbray with a triple-damage radium carbine overwatch shot (6 into 6!).  The Infiltrator Princeps combat specialist dropped in turn 2 and charged turn 3, but All is Dust saved the Rubric Marine he charged.

Admech took a couple more casualties from a psybolt and warpfire bolter and broke Turn 4, ending the game with a pretty convincing victory for the Thousand Sons.

Moral of the story:  The Thousand Sons were painted, which I think led to their having much hotter dice than the AdMech.

i am so itching for a kill team game that i am thinking about doing this. However, I would like to know how you did the AI movement for the other side? did you play the thousand sons as always choose the closest target?

No AI.  I just played both teams as best as I could.

Today in Kill Team I...

Saw my wife of over 12 years (the woman who has, for over a decade, managed to lend a loving ear to my endless talking about all manner of things related to gaming, including —of course—, the Warhammer universe; despite having absolutely no personal interest in any of it whatsoever), approach me unprompted and with no forewarning of any kind, in asking me to teach her how to play Kill Team.

I just finished teaching her the most basic of the basics (models, how their profiles work, moving, and the sequence for attacking a target), and we will be having our first match later today (basic rules, meaning no specialists, and no stratagems, just basic models and some terrain).

Finally had that tutorial match with my wife. We had to postpone it again and again due to work.

We played 53 points per side, Astra Militarum vs Dark Angels Successors. No specialists, no stratagems, 4 rounds with no extensions, at Kill Points, on a very simple board with some terrain.

She actually enjoyed the game. Took less than 20 minutes, and so, she was thrilled, as she dislikes games that drag on for too long, whatever the game may be about. I hope next match will be just as fun.

Great to see you finally managed to play with your wife and that she had a good time.

Today in Kill Team I finished painting my back to Badab heretic astartes kill team:

Don't know if I'll ever get a chance to play it, but painting it was fun.

Thanks - it does lead to as coherent a looking group, but given that my marines don't match either, and kill teams are pretty small (at 13 models, this one is on the large side) it should be okay.

For the marines I used a mix of chaos and imperial marine parts, painted in different schemes (astral claws for the imperial parts, red corsairs (mostly) for the chaos ones, to represent a unit that was already opperating out of the maelstrom near the end of the war.

TIKTI...will be hosting our LGS first KT night in 2020!

Make sure to take pics and report back here!!!
No pics but we had 1 player!

He brought his GK and i decided to play my TS. It was his first game ever so i made sure he had a good time and i ended up enjoying myself tremendously.

I forget how easy to play and intuitive the game is. Its amazing.

Really looking forward to our next game night probably in 3 or 4 weeks time.

TIKT

I introduced the kill team game to a 8th edition 40k player. The player had fun and was interested in being able to play with his space wolf models.

Game

Blood Angel vs Space Wolves 100 pts. Sweep and clear mission.

I had to cut out the scout phase, random terrain effect, and pyshic phase (like marines ever had one before commanders. :p). In order for the player to get the hang of the rules and phases.

Key points why he liked it

* shorter game play less than an hour

* easy to comprehend coming from 8th ed. 40k

* flesh wounds adds chance for a model to survive

I had a play with some terrain for a wasteland style board. Just got the mat on ebay and got an amazing pressie from the missus of the Necromunda Dark Uprising set, just finished assembling all the sprues and its incredible, the modularity is brilliant!!

Amazing looking setup! Where did you get that ship from or what is it made of if I may ask?

Nice, I like the idea of a KT formed from individuals drawn from Chapters fighting together as part of a Crusade army! Which Chapters are they? (Looks like a Doom Eagle on the back row, and is it Sallie and BA in front?)

the chapters from left to right

sallies

doom legion

blood angel

legio b&c

white scar

minatours chpater. I was think of doing the minatour logo, but I couldnt figure out a way to create it. I went with a transfer instead. So i guess it would count as a successor chapter instead.

TIKT...

I played a game in local game shop against a new player. Tau vs Deathwatch. 100 pts each.

The tau player had 1 single pathfinder with rail rifle and 4 kroots.

The deathwatch player was playing mostly intercessory deathwatch kill team.

We played mind shackle mission. Tau was defender and Deathwatch was attacker.

The deathwatch player was new to kill team, but was able to grasp the rules easily after being given a kill team summary rules. It was good that he understood certain basic from WH40K 8th edition. The game was done in a hour which was good.

The highlight of the game was seeing a single kroot fight a deathwatch intercessor with power maul for 2 fight phase before being taken out of action by 4th flesh wound. :D
