Hello,

I've been thinking about buying some single sprues of frostgrave and/or kings of war miniatures (particularily barabarian types) for the heads. I always like to have a variety of bare heads (especially bearded ones, because Space Wolves) to give my guys some character.
Thinking about these ones:

-> https://www.manticgames.com/games/kings-of-war/northern-alliance-kings-of-war/northern-alliance-clansman-regiment/

So I wondering about the scale obviously. I had a look at some of the minis (not completely sure which of the two they were) at a display case next to marines and the scale seemed to be alright, but I'm not 100% sure. Maybe someone around here has first hand experience :)?

Thanks in advance, Ranulf

I think they might be a tad bit small looking, if combined with primaris body, it could look funny. Don't own them, but seen on table. Also worth noting that fitting them into marine body might be difficult, and requires some work for you to have the head at correct height.

Anyways, I think you can make it look great if you just put the effort in.

Frostgrave and kings of war are both similar to lord of the rings scale, i.e. similar height but non heroic proportions. I believe this is closest to 'pulp' scale. The hands, feet and heads for both are noticeable smaller than GW standard heroic; plus they're scaled for human models rather than marines. That said, hairy ones do take up more room, and GW heads can get rather silly sized.

But if you have the two scales mixed in close proximity it may be a bit obvious, though you can probably hide it better by greenstuffing neck length to about the same. I did try kitbashing some mantic zombies into GW kits, and it was too far apart for my comfort.

From google examples:

GW models are the painted ones in this one.

Just had a thought; the fireforge 'forgotten world' range should be on general availability now post-kickstarter, and that range is fairly specifically aimed at GW equivalence. Most the heads are helmeted, but there are some proper bare ones in the rabble and archer kits.

@illgoth: Well, improvising a "neck" shouldn't be too hard. Some marine-torsos have quite high err... collars(?), so it won't be that visible...

@arkhanist: Thanks a lot for your answer, and thanks again for the suggestion. I'll look into it
