Hi all,

Just an FYI that Aeronautica is apparently getting a monthly feature on Warhammer Community, called Flight Plan, bringing "new rules, previews, tactics, and design insights for Aeronautica Imperialis".

Episode 1 is up: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/02/18/flight-plan-keep-your-eyes-on-the-skiesgw-homepage-post-2fw-homepage-post-3/

There's a bit on the Vulture Gunships (apparently they will be resin), including a tease of the Punisher Cannon, and the Barracuda (apparently this will be plastic), as well as a bonus scenario (Ambush in the Clouds).

Nice to see some more AI support. Looks like all the SG will get a monthly WC article format of their own.

Yup, a commitment to an on-going support schedule is always a good thing ... especially as I'm only really interested in the Specialist Games games these days!

Gutted that the Vulture will be resin.

Yeah, I found that disappointing, as it leaves the possibility of more resin the in future (and I don't like resin) :(

I'm leaning towards the Avenger being the other "confirmed" resin airframe.

That may be a good call - it's referenced in the "Panoply of War" article (specifically, mixed wings of Avengers and Thunderbolts "being a thing") ...

That punisher cannon looks interesting :)

Now the Vulture being resin raises some questions about weapons.

The punisher cannon is just one option from the way the article is written, and if the options are consistent with 40k there will be a lot of flexibility in this airframe.

So is FW going to release different packs with different loadouts, bundle in a bunch of different options or release the airframes unarmed and then sell a separate pack or packs with a bunch of different weapons and missiles in each?

With the size of AI missiles and guns a separate weapons pack seems less likely in my opinion.

I hope the vulture will just be bundled with a load of options, but expect to be disappointed and see packs with set weapons instead.

I would guess that the Vulture comes with some unique options, and you have to mix and match with the Valkyrie for others like the rocket pod or lascannons. If the Valk is like the Thunderbolt you'll get more options than you can use.

I wouldn't want to see weapons packs as they can go oop, especially as the base aircraft are so cheap, it would almost be cheaper to buy a whole aircraft set for the weapons rather than a £15.00 resin pack.

If the Avenger is the next resin aircraft I'm very much intrigued to know when we will get scouts!

I'd have preferred to see additional ordnance handled like the variant Titan weapons for AT. As a separate plastic sprue that can either be a drop-in or sold separately.

Of course, if we're getting them resin from FW, we could hope they'd throw in a couple mini-Trojans and loading carts to move those extra missiles around the apron.

I just hope that i can get the Vulture from my FLGS or GW itself... i don't want to order FW resin to come all the way to Australia...  "Resin"...it has such a dirty sound to it :dry.:

anyways I'm super stoked that T'au are coming....the big question is do i go Vio'rla? or traditional T'au? paint scheme's :happy.:

Aeldari (Eldar) is next on my "pretty aircraft i want" wish list :biggrin.:

Disappointed that the Vulture is resin, especially as the Valkyrie is presumably plastic. That said, it wasn't high on my list of planes I wanted to see, so I'll be able to live without it. But I'd rather not see too many 'core' aircraft going over to FW; I will be very, very sad if things like Orcas and Remoras are cast in resin. Most factions don't even have that many aircraft in their respective rosters; I don't see why they can't get these done in plastic, then let FW go to town designing new stuff or niche variants, which is what they've always been best at. Fingers crossed this won't set a precedent!

It’ll be Forge World only, being resin.

:sad.: ... perhaps i might be able to live without the Vulture...

An aircraft that's a bastard child of a Stuka, A-10 and Shturmovik was never going to be pretty. Not a big fan of the jet but glad to see more support for the game.

And actively worked to remove some of the positive features of those aircraft. A close-air-support plane with exposed, low, forward mounted engines? Gull-wings to *reduce* the available space for stores? A tail-gunner?! (With a slow-firing precision weapon!)

The Avenger seems to be designed to be intentionally bad at it's role.

It's in plastic though, and I kinda like the darn thing anyway. (I'm 1 outta 3 on these so far.)

Episode 2 is up: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/03/17/flight-plan-imperial-transports-air-caste-bombers-and-moregw-homepage-post-2fw-homepage-post-4/

The short version is that it confirms/sneak peek's a resin Arvus Lighter, and (I assume plastic) Tau Tiger Shark.  There's also a new mission, "Escape Velocity"
