Ok, I just finished the template/test build for my next set of buildings. These are thick. 6 layers of 1/4" foam. so 1.5" thick before textures and paint. I've done the minimal basing idea. 
This has come together fairly well. Had just looked at gothic structures and had to jump on it. these will take more material but should pop really well on the table. It is evident that I will need to plan each of these out a lot more before cutting foam. It will be for the best and make mass-producing them easier, I plan to build 3 to 5 more. Once I have the template figured out the sky is the limit. (Not really but things will go smoothly for sure. I like the new basing idea nd may well go back to my other buildings and re-do their basing the same way. 
And I also plan a picture tutorial when I get this rolling, as much for myself as anyone else.

The days have been short and the evenings too long, it's been murder staying up to a reasonable hour... Thank goodness for some productivity!

The latest industrial terrain. 
I touched up the commissar uniform and put a gloss black on his boots. I have thought about putting some green stuf on him but would rather find a different model or bitz and just bash up a new one, or two..

Good eye. lol.

The large container is a baby powder bottle the smaller two are an allergy pills and a pain reliever bottles. With part of a paint cap, bottle cap and part of a glue cap on top. these are stacked on top of their own lids and the baby powder bottle is on top of a lid to some other container.  Just junk from my junk box. Mounted to some MDF board, textured and painted. 

super easy space junk. lots of room to add more bits later.

Nothing going on at the moment. feels like a month of the same. Terrain has come a long way from last March. Waiting on more paint to dry on the Gothic style ruin. 
These are a bit ugly but as they were a test build I think they are good enough. The big thing seems to be that I have to plan in layers. I also need to be far more exact in my window and door placement as these are layered up to 5 times each larger than the first. well, more like 3 times but I still have to account for other exterior details in my planning. 
I'm excited to get this second half of the ruin painted for pictures. Just need something to go with it. I'll try to get anther infantry squad built and painted by the end of this coming week. No idea if it will happen faster than that. It's possible. 

Oh, and I have managed to cut my objective markers down to 7.5" circles, we got a new drawing compass last week! so they are very close to a proper circle now, so much better now. 

Nearly forgot, my good friend and long time opponent is offering to trade me a bunch of tanks and artillery for my Harlequins, which I've never d one anything productive with, they are just too small to paint in the motley I had hoped to do and anything less just feels less cool. So I am likely to make the trade. He's itching to slaughter my Freedonians. What a foolish, foolish man!  I have plans to turn his sisters into a fine red mist.

I've drawn up two list to choose from. Posted both to my blog for easy reading. I just don't know if they will stand up as well s I would like but I remain optimistic. 

 

My change the second list again, dropping the Malcador Defender. It's far too many points, but so are LRBT's. Had thought at one point to stick in a tank commander but decided against it. 

Lots of nasty surprises in my lists. It's all dice dependent. Haven't  give any thought to orders or strats thought both are available. 

I'm tempted to draw up another list to field all of my conscripts.  Maybe next time. 

 

Both list should play more or less the same. drop indirect fire and direct fire move units hope for the best shoot again and charge. a few units outflank, to keep them from being killed too early. I think my opponent is playing a new SoB build and maybe more of a mix of units than last time. He's asked me to play my Guard and that's all he knows about what i am up to for tomorrow. I have to say that this army is just weird after not having pushed any IG armies in say, 6 years now. Minimal upgrades, everything has their task to do and I just have to rely on the dice to get me through. No squad weapons upgrades either, all of 3 or 4 power swords in the list. 

I play to cover the table in terrain as well. 

 

I'll have a picture update tomorrow and a battle report in a day or two after.

Some MDF vehicles were mentioned in a thread today which directed me to this site. 
The link is to a blimp that is roughly 6" X4". It may be a good base to use to build some neat proxy Valkyries. It will need a few more parts and some time.
They have another flyer that could work well to represent a couple of different flyers. With the new flyer limits I'm in no ruse to get more than two of either of these but will probably buy a bit more to get them in, in a timely manner. (When I get around to ordering them.)

It was wonderful to finally get this army on the table and I did have a good time. 

The Eversor assassin had a Frank Reynolds moment with his pistol, which was funny but also really disappointing. 
Lots of pictures to go through for the post. 

My trade happened. I got 5 lrbt's and a bag full of magnitized weapons options, 3 Ogryn(the metal ones) 3 thudd guns and 3 heavy mortars and another tank that could be used an an Armageddon pattern Medusa or Basilisk.  Or maybe I can build out a bigger, fatter cannon and use it for a Bombard... Maybe, we'll see.

Update.
Two more terrain sections for the ruined temple built and textured yesterday! 
With some luck they will be ready for primer and paint later today. It's been cold and the glue has difficulty drying in these temperatures. Same with the black paint I use for primer. 
Fingers crossed. 

I'm looking at the metal Ogryn I got in trade and trying to figure out how to give them long coats, hats and gas masks. Or maybe I can trade them off. Not sure yet. 

I'm spending most of this week working on First Legion army for AoD/30K. I've put a massive dent in the number of less than finished models I have , 44 special weapons painted and 20+ power weapons now have a little more Zazz than they had before. I'm pressing on for as long as I can, working on helmet eye lenses. It's tedious but I need to do it. 


I forgot to mention how well those RDL's did in that game. My opponent was shocked and worried about them. I would recommend putting 9 in a list.

Figured I'd put a question here because I've not had an update in a little bit.

My friend called and we were talking about the new changed to objectives and secondary objectives and this lead me to thinking about objective secured units and after having another look, it doesn't look like the AM have any. weird, I thought it was a blanket rule for troop choices but I think that's old hammer stuff now. 

I did see that Bikers could now score some secondary objectives that had needed Infantry to score so I plan to "insist" my horse cavalry can do those as well. Fair is fair and I feel it's fine. 
I seriously need to start putting more score on the board! 

I've just got  a bit of work around the house taking my unusually large amount of other wise free time up right now. Update to come when I have them.

Hello yet again. 
Just ordered some green stuff and found another box of Prussian infantry that were left in their box. I figured I should get back into the hobby a little this year after taking some time away.  Not a lot of big hobby goals right now. Skimming the new rules over the Waaapedia page. Not super excited about what I am seeing but I am not going to let that stop me from building a few models. Super sad at the loss of conscripts.  No plans to play any competitive games or attend any events because I'm not about that life.
I've book marked a few more cool proxies via 3rd party venders and makes I may try to add to my collection. Honestly not a huge amount of units I still wish to add over all. More artillery as I find it for sure and hopefully some killer Ogryn and with luck some 3rd party sentinel walkers. I did find a clever proxy Chimera and hopefully I can afford 2 or 3 of them in a month or so.  My shopping list is small but everything cost just enough. This is likely a list to work on acquiring over the whole year unless I end up with an unexpected windfall. 

I'll end there for not. Pictures and stuff in a week or two once things start happening.

The 36" of green stuff has arrived. Have not located any of my remaining 25 mm bases yet and I am not sure if I even have any super glue currently or not. Feel a little silly to have forgotten glue. Hopefully if I still have any it will be useable and not have turned into a solid chunk. 

Edit. I think this thread is done. This project is not longer compatible with modern warhammer 40,000. There will be no future updates.

I've just updated the first post. Changing direction. 

Welcome again. This thread is now just my IG hobby thread. I'm just building my IG and what have you but rules, editions and games are for the most part locked in the trunk.
So if models are something you like to look at then lucky you! 
And with out further ah doo ...

Update. 
About 3 weeks ago I started rounding up hobby supplies. I bought 3 feet of green stuff and some glue. I've cracked open my last box of Prussians and dug up my sprues. 
I thought I was going to build 40 more Infantry but discovered another 26 infantry still on the sprue. And a full box of French Middle infantry, 60 more models in that box. 
This got out of hand quickly. As of now I have 20 infantry half way built and and getting ready to start the next 10. My collections is massive now if I build all of these models I'll be up to about 130 infantry and maybe another 60 conscripts. I'm happy to just build 30 more and stop.  Still, that's almost 100 more warm bodies. (Or something like that. ) 

I plan to build and build till I can't build any more before I start to paint these up.  
Updates to follow when there more progress.

Thank you. Hopefully I'll have something to show in a week or two.
I hit a bit of a small problem. I lost my left over 25mm bases. And I need about 30 or so of those. 
My counting seem to have been off, maybe. It's possible I'll have as many as 140 infantry when this is done but I really need to do some more planning with a few of the models and set them aside for heavy weapons crews.  
It's been nearly a year so I don't remember much of anything I was doing or where I put my stuff when I cleaned it up. It's going to be ok I'll figure it out. 
Also I may have found a proxy for the new AM MML artillery. Maybe.

Update. Not exactly an update. 
I seem to have stalled out again. I hope to complete at least one Sgt. and maybe 2 troopers but at this point I am just not interested in this . ...  again. 
I'll likely bag it all up and try again at a later date. I have made a fair amount of progress maybe 25% of the green stuff to a 3rd is done. It's just not enough to even bother showing. 
I'm thinking of bouncing to another project for a while and hopefully find the energy to actually hobby again.  Not playing any games in about 2 years had had a noticeable impact on my excitement for the hobby in general. it just isn't there. 

I have some other stuff I could paint. we'll see. 
If and when I get something done for this project I will post it.
