So here's the deal. I've started work on a new Death Guard army - the rule is no model can be newer than Dark Vengeance. Forge World is allowed. I've got some old Plague Marines, a Finecast Typhus and an older metal Undivided Lord with power axe and plasma pistol, who looks right for the army because of his paint job. I'm looking for ideas for period-accurate Blightlords and Deathshroud. Like, for if someone wanted to build Deathshroud for 40k before the Death Guard update. I figure I can just pick up old Chaos Terminators and paint them to match for Blightlords, but I dunno about Deathshroud. Maybe ape some old Typhus models for bits? Any ideas?

Deathshroud have models from Forge World:

If the fact that they're in Tartaros is a problem, you could use the Death Guard Deathshroud Power Scythes on the Grave Warden Terminators:

Obviously, the Grave Wardens are perfect for Blightlords

You know what, those also generally seem about right for the aesthetic of the army - the idea is I can use unmarked/Undivided models if they're an option Death Guard can take, just because the rust effect makes them look right anyway. Thank you.

Blightlords and Deathshroud are both newer models than dark vengeance, so surely you shouldnt be using their rules? Same with pretty much 100% of the death guard, other than old school plague marines. You're going to have to convert the whole army.

Otherwise, DG cant take normal terms, so just use regular term bodies as blightlords. Give them scythes for deathshroud.

The idea is it's a bit of a modeling challenge, more than anything. No parts or models newer than Dark Vengeance, and everything has to fit in the army alright. I can use new datasheets if I can convert the models.

I have another related question. Where might I get power armor-sized Assault Grenade Launchers older than Dark Vengeance? Blight Launchers are good, but I don't know that I'm allowed to have them - I'm not cutting up Grave Wardens for Plague Marines, after all.

No idea if you are allowed to have them based on your restrictions, but take a look at the grenade launchers from Imperial Guard etc for the normal PMs. I reckon with an IG autocannon and its drum mag you could make a termie blight launcher too, flails could be done via fantasy kit spares.

I have a Death Guard 40k army made purely from 3rd ed chaos marines and terminators combined with the Forge World conversion kits they made, put it together around 5th ed. Not sure FW still sell the kits now though.

It's kinda funny you're building this army while I'm still wondering what to do with mine now I've replaced it all.

I'm more theorycrafting for future builds based on what I already have and its parameters - restrictions can be fun.
