Mandragola
Just had a look at the sprue and yes, the terminators come with a spare pair of shoulder pads. The guards don't, so one of my guys will be shoulderpad-less... if I ever get round to building them. To be honest the point I began cannibalising these guys for bits is kind of an acknowledgement that I'm unlikely to finish them. Got the sprues pretty cheap when the Heresy box set was out and they've been in a box since then. schoon
Inspired bitz use Bjorn! Another idea I'm going to have to "lift" for my own use... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/362819-ordo-sinister/page/2/#findComment-5498978 Share on other sites
Rejects of Anvilus
Here's my far more low tech, and less skillful bodge job at adding a lion to the shoulders. Again using Scibor bits. Mandragola
That works well. The twiddly stuff around the head looks a bit like what you get on some Custodes bits. Sherrypie
It fits well, looks a bit more restrained and elegant in that classical antique sculpture fashion. Dark Bjoern
And i´ve another idea for some more decorative additions for my psi-warlord. http://hosting.photobucket.com/images/x120/DarkBjoern/4/Ordo%20Sinister%20WIP%2015.JPG I think that should be enought bling bling. Fajita Fan
Photobucket seems to be becoming more restrictive. I've switched to Flickr. It it quick? I take pictures with my phone, airdrop them to my iPad, and upload them to the gallery using my iPad's new image reduction option. Sherrypie
I like that, floating bits and bobs fit the odd nature of the thing just right. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/362819-ordo-sinister/page/2/#findComment-5500884 Share on other sites

Bjorn Firewalker
The floating rocks on the base looks most promising and imaginative. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/362819-ordo-sinister/page/2/#findComment-5501047 Share on other sites

schoon
I'll be shaving the "wings" off the shoulders of mine, and 3D printing something very close to this as a replacement. Will hollow some of the center, add some detail... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/362819-ordo-sinister/page/2/#findComment-5501676 Share on other sites

General Zodd
I totally freaked out with the base. What do you guys think? Too much? This looks brilliant! I had half a mind to do something similar but couldn’t for the life of me think how to achieve it! I think it makes absolute sense that this thing is so unnatural even the ground wants to get away from it. Amazing! Dark Bjoern
I was inspired by a pic in HH7: Inferno. But i think i will redo it and replace the wire with clear 1mm acryl rods. Mandragola
I think the wire might be fine if painted dark. If doing acrylic you might want to do individual stalks for each one because you'll get reflections off laterals. The boater
From the artwork, looks like the new model for the dark angels primarch will have a lion shoulder plate... might be some good conversion potential for making sinister emblems Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/362819-ordo-sinister/page/2/#findComment-5502756 Share on other sites
schoon
Concerning the base, if you can connect the rocks in such a way that they still give the impression of floating, I think it would end up better that the wires. You could use ghosts trails from AOS or some of the endless spell packs to get the "whispy immaterium" effect you're looking for while still giving you something mechanically solid and aesthetically pleasing. In my experience, wires are tough to hide, and the paint tends to flake off them over time since they flex slightly every time the miniature is moved. Dark Bjoern
The Titan is done. Next will be the base.
