Word Count for "The Emperor's Gift" by ADB

Hello everyone,

 

Bit of a weird one, but my search-fu has failed me.

 

As per topic title, does anyone happen to know the word count on "The Emperor's Gift"?

 

Or have a list of word counts for any other BL books?  I reckoned these hallowed halls would have some idea.

Interesting question Brother Mazer. I gave it a whirl, but I had to stop when I ran out of fingers and toes.

 

I couldn't find an exact number for you, but you can make an estimate with word count per page (I'm sure you figured that out..... doh!). All references I see refer to 250-300 words per page, but that's based on manuscript pages and not published novel pages. That also is going to vary based on type of book ( mmpb, tpb, hardcover).

 

I'm also curious as to why you want to know.... just interested, wager, key to a cypher code? It's the last one, isn't it

Thank you for your counsel, Brother Lunkhead :) I had a crack at the guesstimate using the expedient of allowing 300 words a page, but that didn't seem quite right and wondered if anyone knew, as it's difficult to get a good gauge based on print size (in this case a 5 x 8) and font setting.

 

I know Dune was about 188,000, Ender's Game was 103,000 and Starship Troopers was 84,000 (IIRC), was just wondering what the ranges were for BL...so, no reason at all.  Whatsoever.

 

Psst - do not tell anyone about the secret codes to the gate of infinity, which will take me to the wellspring of eternal wisdom and youth!
