Does anyone recognise the art at the top of the article? Thats a Phobos Pattern Bolter with a Chainblade attachment. Is this a new art piece or did anyone encounter it before? Kinda weird seeing such an old pattern in new art (if it is one).

I couldn't tell you what the original source is but it certainly isn't new. It was featured in a Warhammer Community article over two years ago.

Awww, thats a shame. I'd love to see some Chainblade upgrades.

 

Edit: Although I assume that will resemble Gears of War too much then.

Back in ye olde days when FW made a load more heresy stuff than they do now they sold bolter sets that included those chainblade attachments.

If I remember right they were in both the Phobos and umbra pattern boltgun packs.

That chainblade is a throw back to the original RTB01 marines. You can still pick the blades up on ebay from time to time, I use them quite a bit.

 

 

They work well on marines even now.

Forget the chain bayonet, the hell is up with this scale.

 

 

Either that's an incredibly short guardsmen or GW snorted another line of nine foot tall space marines. Or the Servitor for that matter.
