I received 3 outriders Yesterday and decided to work on them. I already bought 3 from eBay who were built as is. I didn't want any duplicates so I altered them a little.

For the first one I only replaced his arm with one from an assault intercessor.

large.IMG_20250913_160954.jpg.a2bcfe6c1c89d9266cca502cb93e7f24.jpg

The second one is going to be the sergeant for the squad and got magnetized weapons in the eventuality of outriders getting a multipart kit

large.IMG_20250913_161017.jpg.37cd8d310cb4da941e0e245bc2795eb3.jpglarge.IMG_20250913_161003.jpg.1aacdd4fffa49670271693bbdd0f0262.jpg

And the last one was turned into an attack bike/count as invader atv. Made from the firtsborn attack bike side car. I just greenstuffed some larger legs for the Passenger because the original ones were a bit puny. I didn't touch the torso and upper legs because they will be mostly covered by the multi melta. I dis have to use primaris arms with the original weapons handle as i had to glue the seat a little farther back because of the extended legs.

The greenstuff work is a bit ugly as it was my first time trying to sculpt legs, but again it will mostly be covered so it's not a big deal.

The driver also got a head and pistol swap to avoid a duplicate pose

I just finished my september vow for @Grotsmasha's 12 month of hobby challenge.

large.IMG_7059.JPG.0e1b9749889488eec9ede5b765c47e1e.JPG

The vow consisted of 10 intercessors to fill out two half squads I had already completed. So here are Intercessor squad 3 and 4 in all their glory :

large.IMG_7060.JPG.310255c53b7a0209867a89b24ad24284.JPG

large.IMG_7061.JPG.2665efe4a7d382f1702297e29751f8a6.JPG

And with those two squads finished, I've got a full contingent of intercessors for my Void Cuirassiers 2nd company.

large.IMG_7062.JPG.512c4d9f8e3d52f316abb577b63575cb.JPG

On the work bench are all the remaining missing elements to complete my company, 5 assault intercessors, 3 eradicators (who will complete the "devastator" squad that was started with 2 3 men aggressor squads), 5 outriders and an attack bike that will complete the "assault" squad of 3 inceptors.

I also have a 10 man infiltrator squad that will be the 5th batteline squad.

I just need to source 10 heavy intercessors to fill the company out entirely

As always, I should be painting my vow for the 12 months of hobby challenge. But building minis is my favorite part of the hobby so....

I ordered some already built minis on vinted as donor bodies to complete my sternguard veteran squad, and also to have the option to use company heroes.

today I worked on the regular veteran for the company heroes, and decide to pay homage to a mini I used to own, the veteran sergeant from the metal space marine command squad

large.Capture.PNG.87e51da827ab04552f03657755b8518f.PNG

And  now remade as a primaris marine.

large.IMG_20251004_170332.jpg.9ff4310806e4540e6c751704b65c6c1f.jpg

I used a regular boltgun on him as the bolt rifle was a bit too long and didn't fit the inspiration

Last night I kept on grinding on the vinted rescues... Even blistered my finger with drill bits as my hand drill is definitely broken, so all the holes needed for magnets were done by rolling thé drill bits between my fingers...

I used an ETB assault intercessor body as the base of a jump captain. With the release of the thunder hammer and shield version I decided to magnetize him to have the choice between options.

large.IMG_20251004_233642.jpg.f81eb18671bcf9efa7a068e9b53b2d97.jpglarge.IMG_20251004_233652.jpg.32a2b7326bba1fb8fe8ee373c769fee7.jpglarge.IMG_20251004_233701.jpg.155b82df1b50425cbf519ef3e1b7ea22.jpglarge.IMG_20251004_233733.jpg.3d8dc0d5a772ac0d8ab02addaef21c55.jpg

The base was built in anticipation and by sheer luck, the position of the sprue girders matches the position of the feet absolutely perfectly, giving me 2 contact points instead of one as I had expected initially.

He also has a regular backpack and can be used as a proxy for lieutenant Titus !

Thanks a lot for your comments guys. I know I'm the first to blame when it comes to actually commenting on someone's work instead of just leaving a like or any other reaction, but I guarantee you it is much appreciated !

On the painting front I finally started on my vow, the assault intercessors are about a third done (need a second coat on the gold parts, the wash, touch ups, details and highlights...)

On the building side of things however... I have put the last intercessor bodies I received to good use !

first is the last bladeguard veteran :

Then an ancient, made with a rescue firstborn banner and an ETB intercessor :

And finally the sternguard squad is finished :

I tried to recreate one of the original tyrannic war veterans

large.tyranicwarvet.PNG.b79bf31380701a76fc05685ff128c26d.PNG

the original doesn't have a bionic arm, but as almost all the other tyrannic war vets have at least one bionic limb, I gave him one too as a sort of global hommage in a single miniature

The last marine was given an old terminator heavy flamer to represent whatever the name of the new heavy flamer is for the sternguard

And here with the first part of the squadlarge.IMG_20251011_163800.jpg.0916aabf4afa03b94b4f63e655ff13c2.jpg

Yesterday I received the combat patrol infernus sgt I ordered to turn into a captain for kill team. The other bits were already chosen/converted in advance so I just built him quickly :

large.IMG_20251017_201543.jpg.936fb017b85c856dafad2ee474d916e0.jpg

He will be the 7th company captain, detached to the 2nd company to lead kill team operations

I guess I had the 2nd ed picture subconciously in mind when I imagined the kitbash!

I managed to take better pics of my completed eliminators

I finished the infiltrators for my 2nd company.

I definitely don't like painting phobos armor...

These ones were bought second hand and had already been primed white (rather heavily). I had to brush on the black base coat in two coats (god only knows why my abaddon black doesn't cover well...).

In the process, some of the minis lost quite a bit of details. Coupling that with the fact I really don't like painting phobos armor (even though I quite like the style), they were definitely not a joy to paint and were a bit rushed.

Glad they are done though

large.IMG_20251024_190113.jpg.0817a4f0b186fb342a0d7a802014f6a9.jpg

They look fine in the images. Quite often, small defects you'd see on individual models don't show up when viewed in groups or on the tabletop, so I wouldn't worry about it.

With you saying you bought them second-hand and pre-primed, did you try something like BioStrip 20 or isopropyl alcohol on them? Those normally do a good job of removing paint, unless someone's used an "odd" paint on them.

I did'nt try anything. Bio strip doesn't seem to exist in France (at least I don't know what's its commercial name around here if it does) and I don't have isopropyl alcohol.

It only had a coat of primer that seemed fine as it was, but I may have gone a bit heavy on the black coat because it really didn't cover much at first... I guess I should have sprayed them lightly and I would have had a better result. But as you say, they're fine as is, viewed in group, as not all models were impacted

Edited by Heraclite

If there are flaws... I can't see them in the photos. They look really good! I have a soft spot for Phobos armour and will have a fair bit in my DW force :D

I have found that if you're going over white and need a decent black, then Black Legion contrast is actually really good. It's not like the typical contrast paints that give you shading... it's just a really nice thin black paint that is way easier to block in blacks without filling in small details

The squad looks awesome! If you didn't mention it I wouldn't have known there was any loss of detail. I like using simple green to paint strip but I'm not sure if it's available in Europe.
