after finishing my attack bike, I rewarded myself with some building time.

 

Here's my take on a Lieutenant with combi weapon

 

 

I didn't have a combi flamer, so he got a hand flamer and a regular boltgun. The tyranid carapace on his shoulder comes from the burning tyranid base decoration that comes with the Combat Patrol Infernus sergeant. What was left (the head) was used on the base as intended

It's a spare from the eliminators kit.

There's like 9 different heads for just 3 bodies. It's a great kit for kitbashes

I guess it's starting to become customary... I should definitely be painting, but I can't help but build stuff...

 

The plan for my chapter is to have a full company, but I quite like the idea of having a mini for every captain for the other companies. I already have the captains for the 2nd and 3rd companies that came with hachette conquest and have already built the terminator captain from combat patrol for the first, converted a jump pack captain for the 8th, a "kill team" captain for the 7th and almost finished building a phobos captain for the 10th (some green stuff work is still needed)

 

This weekend I built my 4th company captain using a spare assault intercessor body and the cape from a second terminator captain that will be, in time, converted into a Terminator chaplain.

He also needs some greenstuff work to adjust the cape around the shoulders.

 

Tonight I made a rough mock up for a 5th company captain, using an ETB intercessor and a lot of spare parts.

 

He is going to need a few more décorations like rope and other details, but I quite like his overall planned appearance.

 

Only the 6th company captain and the 9th are missing now.  I already have the parts for a bike captain for the 6th, just waiting on the bike chaplain that will come with combat patrol to build him. For the 9th I think I would like to use the gravis captain with heavy bolt rifle to keep the devastator theme of his company, but he might also be a future conversion.

Love the variation in your captains! Agreed that building is too much fun and gets in the way of painting

For the 5th Co. Captain, I'd try rotating the hand holding the chainsword so the fingers are pointing more toward the ground, somewhere between 45° and straight down.

I finally comitted to gluing the captains

 

I had a banner in mind for my 5th company captain but eventually decided against it as all the other captains didn't have one. He also got some fur to blend in with his cape

 

The 4th company captain got some greenstuff work to better incorporate his cape as well as some added skulls to his helmet and kneepad coming from various sources.

 

I also built a phobos lieutenant. I still need to build his base and was thinking about hiding him behind a wall of some sort.

Today I worked on the first steps for my plodding along vow for 2026 and repurposed some already finished scouts and based some old metal scouts.

First are the sergeant and two regular scouts

 

Then those 2 painted ones that will remain as is

Then the sergeant of my original squad was turned into a tracker operative

This one got his arms ripped off and replaced with a boltguns for ranged firepower

 

This metal scout was the only one that could accomodate the grapnel launcher holster and is now a hunter operative

The plan for the team is to use the combat blade equipment, so this regular metal scout was turned into a sniper with the spare rifle from the plastic scout kit

The magnetized pair of legs on the left was already built. I just did a second set and both got a sheathed combat blade

And the whole team assembled

 

I also based my phobos librarian 

 

And worked on a base for my phobos lieutenant 

 

 

The finished product should look like this (you have to imagine him without the feet tab that is still on for ease of painting)

I've decided that 2026 will be kill team focused on top of finishing (can we ever finish?) painting my void cuirassiers.

 

The plan is to use the minis from hachette combat patrol to build as many kill teams as possible.

 

This lad doesn't come from combat patrol but I bought a grot squad in advance to build the Kommando grot with his grapling hook. 

 

The base mini is a grot wearing nothing but a fur skirt. I tried to sculpt him some boots and a uniform as well as a beanie.

There's never enough captains. Nice work! Love inscription on the sword.  Do you use brush or micropen?

I recently bought a micro pen. Specifically for writing intelligible words. I still prefer a brush for the scribbling on the purity seals though.

 

The pen is also quite helpful for outlining the cuirass on the chapter icon

Great colours and style on the Marines. I love the use of old bits - a proper, 'regular', oldschool bolter, jump pack, combat shield and - what I belive to be - an old terminator power fist. Also, despite being out of focus in the last photo, the face is stunning. Great brushwork.

You've got a good eye. It is indeed an old Terminator powerfist. I already used some on  previous minis. I think their size fits nicely with the primaris scale. Also they come in many different poses compared to the assault intercessor powerfist.

 

For the sergeant I had tried to fit a regular bolt rifle but it really messed with the look I was trying to achieve of the 3d ed command squad sergeant.
