Dumb question. Where are all the characters at?

Hey all. I'm returning to the hobby after a few years off, and I feel like I don't know anything at all anymore.  I just picked up the latest Space Marine codex today so I can start planning my first few model purchases.   Are named characters not a thing anymore or are they released in the chapter specific supplements? Thanks for taking the time to answer what I'm sure is a dumb question.

Named characters are in the chapter specific supplements, yeah.

 

If you're looking for Black Templars though, they're in Psychic Awakening: Faith & Fury.
